Paranormal enthusiasts do not have to go to a real haunted mansion and fear for your life. And Star Wars fans needn’t head to that galaxy far far away to meet Darth Vader.
My experience at THE VOID at Genting Highlands was definitely one of my main highlights for the trip. THE VOID is a virtual reality (VR) gaming area that provides a hyper-reality experience, featuring cutting-edge technology and world-class content. It spans more than 7000 square feet and is the biggest centre out of North America and the first and biggest in Asia.
Attempting an “Infernal Affairs”.
The VOID includes titles from well-loved franchises such as Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, Ralph Breaks VR, Ghostbusters and their own original spooky experience: Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment.
We tried Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire and Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment when we were there and I have to say that Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment left an impression on me. If you really want a fantastic VR experience, go for it.
Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment
There were 4 of us in a team and but a minute or two after we entered, we were split up into two groups and I saw our two other friends dropped into a hole on the floor. We freaked out! (But when we ended the game, they told us they saw us dropped! How?! Lol) The whole experience felt so so real I really thought I was in a haunted house. Imagine walking through a real haunted house. That’s exactly how it felt although everything was in fact just virtual reality.
We had to complete some simple missions before doors will open up. Nothing difficult but the sound and the limited time made us very nervous. As we progressed through the doors, each section got scarier and scarier and there was even a witch that appeared so fast in front of us to jab us in our chest. There were vibrations and heat from the vest we were wearing to make the experience even more realistic. All the statues, ghosts, and monsters around weren’t helping. Words aren’t doing the game any justice so you will need to try it to believe it.
The game was so good to the point where… Eunice and I raised our hands to give up. IT WAS TOO REAL AND TOO SCARY. I even told Eunice that this was the first time we held onto each other so tightly!
I was just telling my family about Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment over the weekend since I wanted to plan a trip to bring them to the brand new Genting Highlands. If I really head back, I want to play Nicodemus: Demon of Evanishment all over again and make sure I clear the game this time around. No more scaredy cat!
Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire
This game is great if you are a Star Wars fan. You can take the role of a Stormtrooper and fight Darth Vader. It is pretty much a shooting game, and it also has got mini-missions to clear to open different doors to complete your mission.
I’m not exactly a Star Wars fan so I didn’t feel especially excited. But we had fun completing missions together as a 4-member team and everything felt so real that we were screaming and shouting throughout. It was great fun though!
