One of the highlights of any holiday has definitely got to be food. While this isn’t exactly a food-focused holiday, the restaurants we were brought to by the Resorts World Genting team were excellent, and the food variety range from international fare to local cuisines.
Here are the 4 places that deserve a mention because of the yummy-licious food that was served.
1. Wanhoi Yamcha
Address: Lot T2-7,8,&9, Level 1 Sky Avenue, 69000 Genting Highlands, Pahang, Malaysia
All the cute and yummy dimsum!
Wanhoi Yamcha serves Cantonese cuisines and their food don’t just taste good, they definitely look good too. Some of them were so cute that we almost couldn’t bear gobbling them up!
Let’s take a look at the menu. I’ve got a feeling I only took photos for the dimsum and drinks menu though. Apologies, you may need to google for the full menu with all the dishes avaialble.
Cute piggy baos. There were also Minions and even cute birdy pastries that were served in mini bird cages.
And here are the rest of the very delicious dishes that were served to us as our very first meal in Genting Highlands.
2. High Line Roof Top Market

High Line Roof Top Market is almost like Marche. There are many food stalls and you can just order from any of them to dine there. On top of the indoor sitting area, you can also choose to sit at the outdoor dining area to enjoy to cool Genting Highland weather. We tried to sit outside but the weather that evening was too cold so we shifted to the indoor dining area shortly after. Apparently, there are live bands performing there at night too but we didn’t stay till that late to catch them.
This was my dinner for the night. It’s prawn noodles, with the prawns replaced by a huge lobster. The lobster was fresh and there was so much meat I had to give half to my friend because I couldn’t finish it. The soup was rich and flavourful and the noodles were soft, but not gooey. It was a nice dish to enjoy after a long day.
A seafood bucket to share.
For the meat lover. And check out that lobster nasi lemak at the back.
3. Malaysian Food Street
Address: Level 4, SkyAvenue
Malaysian Food Street is food court that serves authentic Malaysian local favourites and this was my favourite place to eat during the trip. It is segregated into 4 different zones Kuching, Malacca, Ipoh &Penang and Petaling Street and offer signature dishes like Hokkien Mee, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fried Kway Teow, Porridge, Bak Kut Teh and Curry Fish Head, and these are just the tip of the iceberg.
There were many of us and so we ordered a lot of different dishes to share. What a spread!
I was feeling a little under the weather and the organizer ordered some porridge for me so it was placed right in front of me, haha. The liver and intestine porridge tasted really flavourful!
This Hokkien Mee was my favourite of the lot. Look at those crispy pork lard! I ordered it for lunch again on the third day before departing for Singapore!
Address: Level 1, SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting, 69000 Genting Highlands Resort, Pahang, Malaysia
I’ve already mentioned Motorino in my 2017 Genting Highlands post (read the post for more details) as one of the restaurants you shouldn’t miss when you are there. I went over to Motorino to eat again this time and the food is still as good as before. You can take a look at their full menu here.
My favourite pizza from Motorino. I love the sunny side ups on the pizza! Many apologies I was too busy eating I can’t remember the name of the pizza though. 🙁
Italian food lovers shouldn’t miss this. Motorino has got multiple outlets in New York, two in Hong Kong and Manila, one in Singapore, and now in Genting Highlands. It is owned and operated by Belgian-Italian born chef Mathieu Palombino who makes Neapolitan-style pizza in wood ovens imported from Italy.
Roasted chicken wings flavoured with lemon, mint and chilli flakes
Meatballs braised in tomato sauce, pecorino and basil
