Before I begin, I would like to pay tribute to Sudan, the World’s Last Male Northern White Rhino. I read in disbelief as CNN reported this news. His departure has left 2 females to save these species from extinction. In the midst of unsettling emotions of this upsetting reality, my hubs expressed the pains that we felt through this #lowpolyart #vectorart RIP Sudan!

Day 6: Be Enchanted by The Last Word Long Beach
Moving on to the last 2 posts of my safarimoon( ya, it seems like a neverending story lol ), I have my selfish reasons to take my time and savour on these sweet memories.
When I first saw the itinerary, I felt uneasy to self-drive the rest of our 4 days in Cape Town. Afterall, what we see on social media and all that we have read, seems to always exaggerate all about the social unrests in Africa. Once again, the scepticism got the better of me and I must say I have wasted my brain juice being worried for nothing. On the contrary, I was totally blown away by the kindness we received in South Africa! Now with hindside, I can understand why it is HIGHLY recommended to do self-drive to CAPE Town. So we collected our car at Europcar rental office at the airport and head off to our accommodation: The Last Word Long Beach.
Yup the kinda things the girls do when the other half is driving lol
The Sky seems aways more blue on the other side… It is so captivating to be consumed by the vastness of the clear blue sky, I can never get bored staring at this! This will always be a reminder to me how Great is our God!
And how pretty in pink this is! Exactly why the self-drive from one location to another, brings such pleasing sights to our eyes.
Featuring THE ACCOMMODATION to wow for:
The Last Word Long Beach
1 Kirsten Ave, Kommetjie, Cape Town, 7976, South Africa
This most romantic hideaway is right on on the beach on the picturesque lobster fishing village of Kommetjie, a short 30-minute drive from Cape Town. An unspoilt paradise has a backdrop of most stunning sea views, allowing us to indulge in sinful pleasures being mesmerized by this beauty!
The Last Word Long Beach in Cape Town is a World Travel Award Winner: South Africa’s leading beach hotel 2009-2014.
Our Pictures does injustice to this place!
This is our view as we look across the balcony for breakfast! #gasp
I must say this elegant suite is a little too big for both of us? lol!! If I were to nitpick on this place, it would have to be the vintage-ness of the hotel. The furnitures are definitely not worn out but we can tell, this hotel probably has been around for a few years. However, this was quickly overlooked as we walked into what welcome us at the patio.
Our luxurious suite on the first floor opens up to the swimming pool of the accomodation, literally free for us to walk into it when we wake!
This is what welcomed us when we reached! Always works when you are on a honeymoon!! Haha
Desserts on the bed anyone!?
Next we headed up for dinner! Thank God that in this secluded part of the town there’s a Japanese restaurant ( Umami Restaurant )just 5 mins drive away from us. It did not occurred to us that we are able to find such authentic Japanese cuisine here in South Africa. While the food was good, I would highly recomend for anyone who visit Kommetjie, to arrange a lobster dinner and request to catch your own lobster if in the season.
Look at how distraught this hubs is!? hahaha KIKOMAN & Chinese teapot in South Africa!
Day 7 : Sandboarding Adventure ( Downhill Adventures) in Cape Town!
I had the least expectations when we arrived at Cape Town. After all it’s the last 4 days of our honeymoon and all I wanna do is to enjoy it to the Fullest! After a relatively boring(oops) time in Victoria Falls, I wasn’t expecting an adventure in Cape Town! All thanks to my beloved husband who suggested to do some exciting activities !! ( uh huh don’t think otherwise hahaah) Yes, that is Sandboarding in South Africa?!
We contacted Downhill Adventures (https://www.downhilladventures.com) and we truely enjoyed ourselves! They took on our last minute request, found a guide quickly and their office is easy to locate in Cape Town. We left our accomodation early next morning, parked our car near their office and our guide took about 20 minutes us to drive us to the sand dunes.
Look at our faces filled with anticipation and excitement!! lol
It was another 10 minutes walk from where we arrived to the sand dunes. Afterall, all my “training” in my past snowboarding trips helps in dragging the boards to the destination. We were too blessed when we realised we have our guide all to ourselves instead of a 5-6pax group!! Private tuition they say!!!
Yes its not funny cimbing up and down for sand boarding, super cardio workout hahah
Our guide doubled up as an awesome photographer!
Yup and he was the voice behind our candid videos with unscripted commentary! lol!! I must say although this sandboarding experience was the highlight of our day in Cape Town, I still prefer my powder snowboarding experiences. Oh well, we had fun!
Ended the adventure on high with a wefie! This free spirited nature of this guide is indeed commendable as he shared with us how he left his corporate job to travel around Europe 4 years ago, to seek the meaning in life. Are you able to let go like he did?
With too much adrenaline rush in our bodies, we decided to do the touristy thing and visit the famous Table Mountain, located in the National Park of Cape Town. We took the cable car up to reach this gift to the earth!
When we found some people who really live their lives to the fullest! Yes , they are going to be abseiling down!!!
So in the midst of admiring the beautiful Table Mountain we found a rockstar. #lol
This little fella is the Rock Hyrax, commonly referred to as dassie, with their closest living relatives as elephants! lol
Being really cautious of the screaming kids
Ending my post with an awesome picture of my hubs! Always pride myself for taking such great picture of him, even from the back view!!
Next post I will be writing more about my FAVOURITEST( if ever a word) accomodation : Grootbos Private Nature Reserve!!!
