Aegyo Sal (애교살): Yay or Nay?

Let’s see,

other than being so ridiculously popular and having chart topping hits,
What particular feature do almost ALL kpop stars have in common?

No, not eyes genius, but this thing they call “Aegyo Sal” or Eye Pockets.

It is the layer of skin under the eyelids that gives your eyes more life and basically makes it look bigger.
If you still don’t understand what I mean,
check out this picture. *teacher mode*
Aegyo Sal is NOT eyebags, I repeat, it is NOT eyebags.
Eyebags are caused by lack of sleep or if you’re unlucky, caused by your genes and makes you look like a sleep deprived zombie or an unadorable panda, but aegyo sal is loosely translated as “cute/beautiful skin”.

I know, like how can skin be cute right? LOL.

Let me show you the difference between having Aegyo Sal and not having it.
(I’m photoshop stupid, so I used Picasa on this one)
Big difference, no?

Let me try again.

Here’s Jaejoong

STILL looks good but lesser appeal without the eye pockets, no?

Ms Lee Hyori

Definitely cuter and younger with the eye pockets, Miss Korea!

Saw this online, Ms Han Ga In.

More vavavoom with the cute skin under the eyes, don’t you agree?

Aegyo Sal just gives more life to the eyes or the face in general!
It makes you look younger, makes you stand out from the crowd (to be honest I would still look at Jaejoong with or without eye pockets, but you know what I mean right.) and just makes your eye pop without any use of makeup or surgery.

Sadly (like most people), I have both eye pockets AND dark circles and yes, there is a huge difference between the two.

Aegyo Sal – cute
Dark circles – can go to the pits of hell and I wouldn’t even care.

IF you want to know the difference between eyebags and aegyo sal,
Remember that eyebags are blue/green ish while aegyo sal should be the same color as your skin, which should be nudish or pinkish.

Don’t know if you have Aegyo Sal?
Grab a mirror, look in the mirror and simply….SMILE.
If there’s a little pouch or this layer of skin gathered below your eyelids, DAEBAK LAH YOU GOT AEGYO SAL YO.

If you don’t have one, fret not!
You can totally fake it up by using make up!
I suppose the easiest way to get Aegyo Sal is by using a shimmery eyeshadow and apply them in your lower lid, just below your lashline.

However, if you feel like having it permanently, head on to this LINK HERE YES CLICK HERE and there’s more information there on where you can get your eyes done.

If you’re not so keen on going under the knife or injection,
I suggest going over to youtube for aegyo sal tutorials!
Lots of videos there for you to experiement with!
