They say beauty isn’t defined by how you look on the outside but who you are within. I believe that, but how often can one see another’s inner good if they can’t look pass the outer “ugly”? This is possibly one of those many sweeping statements I make, but the truth is, to certain extent, we are all J-types, judgmental in our own little ways. Superficial to the very least. I’m quite certain, we would have at least once in our life, judged a person based superficially on how he/she looks. And because of that, never really had the opportunity to discover the good within. I for one, am guilty.

So exactly how do you define beauty? I’m gonna take the superficial approach and answer this question.

According to Wikipedia, “outer beauty (i.e. physical attractiveness) includes physical attributes which are valued on aesthetic basis.”

1. Eyes

The eyes is the window to one’s soul, or so they say. I personal find large, watery eyes very captivating. It’s one of those features that attracts me to a person. That said, it’s really just towards women. Men’s eyes can be gorgeous, but the effect would not be as mind blowing. I don’t think I’ve dated any guy with beautiful eyes. Guys, correct me if I’m wrong?

Anyway, here are some ladies with drop dead gorgeous eyes! Evangeline Lilly, Cameron Diaz, Mila Kunis, Aishwarya Rai, Charlize Theron, Jessica Alba, Penelope Cruz, and possibly, Megan Fox?

2. Complexion

I find complexion one of the basis of aesthetic beauty. After all, skin basically covers the entire of your body and the face is the first you look at to judge how beautiful a person is, no?

A couple of celebrities comes to mind when we talk about complexion: Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry and probably, Catherine Zeta-Jones?

3. Lips

Need I say more?

Okay, so yes, we have eyes, complexion and lips. There’s cheekbones, jawline, etc too. Shamelessly, I’m gonna say that I love my eyes the most, which is why eyes are top of my list. That said, my eyes are pretty average, when not enhanced by contact lenses (although, Priss usually claims otherwise, which is why we’re in a relationship on Facebook ;P).

I’m pro reconstructive surgery or plastic surgery, but personally, I wouldn’t have anything enhanced surgically (I don’t consider fat reduction as a form of feature change) because… well… I prefer being accepted for how I look? And I really don’t want my future hubby to start questioning why our future kids are not so-and-so. Although, I would like my forehead to be a little smaller, or rather, I would like my entire head reduced. I’m like a pullip doll, my head is just enormous. That does sound a little wrong. Hurhur.

Okay, I don’t really sound very pro plastic surgery, eh? Guess it’s more acceptance to choice. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the procedure though. In fact, I have many friends that have undergo it and I love them just as much. I’m going to contradict myself and say, I might have a change of heart when I am put in a position that I really have the option of undergoing the procedure. So far, the option has not been made available, and I wouldn’t really put in the effort to do my research?

Anyway, there’s a easy way out right now, and it’s Aesthetics Hub (http://www.aestheticshub.com)! So yes, I’m starting to read? Damn, this is just making my last two paragraphs really redundant.

Just my two cents worth, do what you feel would make you happy. If you think enhancing your features surgically would make your life better and you happier, please DO GO AHEAD. If you think otherwise, so be it. We’re given the power of freedom and choice for a reason.

*Peace out*

Botox is a wrinkle reducer. A study confirms that facial muscles do not simply broadcast people’s emotions, but are important for identifying and experiencing emotions which, in turn, interrupts the development and maintenance of negative emotions.

A Houston doctor said that since Botox is zinc dependent – they need zinc to work, he wondered what would happen if he “gave people zinc before their Botox injections. So, he combined a high dose of zinc with a phytase enzyme and Zytase was born. The drug is taken four days before and on the day of the Botox injection.

I’m not familiar with Independent Women month, despite being one. Anyway, my idea of independence is being one’s self, loving one’s self and working hard to provide what one’s self needs. Let me elaborate.

“Independence is a condition of a nation, country, or state in which its residents and population, or some portion thereof, exercise self-government, and usually sovereignty, over the territory. The opposite of independence is a dependent territory.” – Wiki

If you check the definition of the word, independence would mean:

1. not influenced or controlled by others in matters of opinion, conduct, etc.; thinking or acting for oneself: an independent thinker.
2. not subject to another’s authority or jurisdiction; autonomous; free: an independent businessman.
3. not influenced by the thought or action of others: independent research.
4. not dependent; not depending or contingent upon something else for existence, operation, etc.
5. not relying on another or others for aid or support.

The question here shouldn’t be what I think independence is, but how independent I am.

To be honest, I was very much sheltered when I was much younger, and I’ve known that. My lack of independence is my weakness, one that I detested. I tend to hide behind my mum even in front of relatives, I get chauffeured to and back from school every single day, I even talk through the mouth of people that are closer to me (like my mum and maid) instead of voicing it out on my own. Can you imagine how ridiculous that is? But then again, I was a child, a timid and dependent child. Guess that’s why I was easy to push around in primary school, didn’t help that I was a chubby-nerdy kid. I know I wasn’t dumb, but by not voicing out, I was perceived to be retarded.

Things change as you grow older, especially if you have a relatively strong will. By secondary school, I conditioned myself to be more independent, which also reflected as a bit of being rebellious.

Before the end of my secondary life, I was as independent as I could be, then. I worked, I studied, I spoke for myself… basically, I was somewhat of a little adult. (People still do things for me, but I don’t consider that as lack of independence but more of laziness. Haha.)

So my idea of independence is being one’s self and being able to stand up for one’s self – help is great but it’s an value add, not a necessity.

They say that forums are passé, I disagree. I find that forums are a great place to exchange thoughts and ideas without having to actual reveal your identity (thought many actually do). The thing I don’t quite like about forums is the keyboard warriors that go in there and create havoc. But because the environment is a little bit more freestyle, it’s a little harder to control. That’s besides the point here.

I do like MFP forums, in fact, it’s one of those forums that I actually contribute to. (You don’t actually want to know what other forums I go to, it’s not exactly the place where you start typing away about some gossip matters, *ahem* HWZ is a bit no-no for me.) The people at MFP are friendly, sharing and respectable (so far). The topics of discussion are female oriented, diverse and read-worthy, to a certain extent.

If I had more time, I would possibly want to interact a little more with the MFP forum-ers and get to know them at a more personal level, simply because they are worth it?

So yes, if you have queries, doubts, or issues that you wish to share with others but don’t really want to reveal too much about yourself, I’d say, here’s one domain you can consider. It’s great to share thoughts, feelings and even problems with people, you never know what you can make out of just words.

Being the Ambassador of Fabulous Group, I’ve learned that beauty is an overall. It’s not just the way you look but the way you feel. When you’re able to achieve not just looking good but feeling Fabulous, you’re about there.

Now, this topic isn’t about being Fabulous per se, but about teeth whitening. I’ve been thinking about going through the process a dozen times. I know the steps and all, but I just haven’t quite managed to book my dentist appointment to get the scaling done. Unfortunately, my gums are a little weak, so it’s better to have the dentist do a check first before I head down to the outlet and get my teeth whitening done.

Anyway, for those who do not have sensitive gums like I do, and you’re looking to have a brighter smile, the process of teeth whitening can be easily administered.

Fyi, teeth whitening can reduce staining and discolouration and ultimately grant a patient a whiter and brighter set of teeth. I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve been drinking wayyy too much coffee. My white teeth are no longer as white.

That said, you can’t expect miracles. Really, you can’t. I’ve had this conversation with my bestie before. Apparently, her teeth are a little yellow by nature. So even if she does teeth whitening, she can possibly attain her original whiteness, but not as white as snow. It is important to note at this point that our teeth have no uniform whiteness.

Usually, the whitest teeth are the two front teeth while molars are generally two shades darker. A realistic goal for anyone wishing to have a whiter set of teeth is for the process to achieve its optimum level while retaining the natural look of white teeth. Besides, the whitening results vary from patient to patient depending on the teeth structure and procedure type.

Do not be deceived by anyone that tells you otherwise. The claims that your teeth can become nine shades whiter is an exaggeration. A whitening of two or three shades is somewhat possible and can already provide a significant change in a person’s smile. So yes, again, do not expect miracles. Let’s keep the expectations right, and we’ll all be pleased with the results.

Now, the big question, what causes tooth discolouration? Remember that aging, chemical damage and staining are factors that contribute to discolouration as are medications, tea, coffee, cola soft drinks and cigarette. As mentioned, I’m guessing my cause of discolouration is due to coffee. Just a wild guess, of course.

There are also other factors that affect the color of teeth like genetics and disease. Some people have naturally whiter teeth enamel and their children can acquire this gene trait. But if you suspect that there’s a physiological factor behind the color of your teeth, it is best to consult your physician too so you can better inform your dentist, or for this case, the therapist that’s conducting the “procedure” for you.

Okay, so basically teeth whitening corrects the discolouration in your teeth by removing the staining on your teeth. There are a number of methods or techniques that can be used to achieve this such as the following: mild acid whitening, chemical whitening, abrasive teeth whitening and the latest one: laser teeth whitening. If not mistaken, at Fabulous, it’s laser.

Now, the therapist first molds a custom mouth tray or mouth guard for the customer. Creating the mouth tray is critical because this controls the amount of whitening agent to be used and holds the entire teeth for even whitening. Other material requirements for the home procedure are fairly easy to handle. The therapist should make sure that the customer is well-instructed and well-equipped.

The session could also last for as short as an hour or two. This really depends in the product and your own whitening need.

Anyway, these are just the know-hows. Once I get my teeth whitened at the outlet, I’ll let you know my first hand experience!

Valentine’s Day is supposedly the “special day” for lovers. For me, it’s kinda one of those days that enterprises OVERPRICE their products and services to make the men spend on their supposed better halves, which sometimes may not be all that better to begin with. So yes, to a certain extent, I am not much of a V’Day kinda gal (every year I have a different concept of Valentine’s Day, so don’t take everything I’m saying now as the gospel truth, fyi).

That said, I fell into this conspiracy after I checked my Facebook relationship status, and noticed that my dear Priss (who is supposedly “in a relationship” with me in Facebook) dated February 14th as our anniversary. I swear, it had to be a hint. Just for the sake of not ending up being the “bad girlfriend/boyfriend” I decided, I should get her a gift. I never did in the past, not that I remember at least, so I guess I should this year.

So yes, thanks to my dear girlfriend Karen, who happens to own a flower shop, I managed to get roses delivered to Priss’s office. It was a lovely bouquet, truly. She (I meant Priss that is) seems relatively happy receiving it, so that made me rather pleased.

Anyway, the plan for the day was to spend it with Priss. Unfortunately or fortunately, two days before the “special day” I was asked to host a Singles V’Day Party, VALENTINE VENDETTA. I gladly accepted the task, of course. Think about it, instead of wasting money this year, I’m actually gonna make some. Makes a lot of sense, no?

Priss, a whole bunch (and I meant A WHOLE BUNCH) of friends, and countless complete strangers accompanied me this Valentine’s Day. Among the lot… well… there was someone a little more special than the rest. The same someone that I haven’t seen since Valentine’s Day itself.

Here are some love stories on MFP:
