(PRODUCT SHARING) Kameya Hon Wasabi from Shizuoka Prefecture at METRO IPPIN

I love wasabi so much that I wish to brush my teeth with it.
I’m just being expressive. But my love for wasabi is undeniable. I would go for anything wasabi. Whenever it is available as an option.
.

Kameya Hon Wasabi ($7) from Shizuoka Prefecture showcases the wonderful pungency and aroma that I love about wasabi. These wasabi from Mt. Amagi is known to be one of the best around.
.

The top three factors for wasabi production are rich water, healthy seedlings and good management. The water is highly suitable for wasabi production because Mt. Amagi has great precipitation, and rich in nutrients spring water at 12 to 13 degrees celsius all year round.
.

Kameya Hon Wasabi comes in a tube packed in a pretty box. The common way to have this, is to dap sashimi with it before eating. I like to mix this with mayonnaise to get my perfect wasabi mayonnaise for fried food. I also like to mix it with butter and topped it on grilled prawns. If you are feeling adventurous, try adding this into a cake batter. It works deliciously! Perhaps I should try making wasabi macaron or wasabi pudding next. 😋
.

Kameya Hon Wasabi can be purchased at Ippin Section of Metro Level 4.

(PRODUCT SHARING) Kameya Wasabi Furikake from Shizuoka Prefecture at METRO IPPIN

If the vibrant colors of Furikake resemble confetti, a Wasabi Furikake must be a party in the mouth, with confetti!

Kameya Wasabi Furikake ($8) from Shizuoka Prefecture uses wasabi grow on the edge of Mt. Amagi. The wasabi is one of the best around as Mt. Amagi is one of the five places with the greatest precipitation in Japan. The abundant rainwater permeates the pumice layer, producing springs of water rich in nutrients and oxygen.
.

This wasabi furikake is a long-selling product for over 30 years. Just sprinkle it on rice and you will feel the authenticity of Japanese food. The bonito, eggs, sesame seeds, rice crackers, etc gave this furikake many dimensions of taste and crunch. The addition of wasabi into this Japanese seasoning added heat and is my ultimate umami bomb!
.

I like to experiment with my food, especially when I’m doing my own cooking. While this wasabi furikake tasted good on rice, try sprinkling them on grilled fish. Try mixing them into beaten egg for some scrambled egg or omelette. My current craze is to sprinkle it over the lightly grilled avocado. So yummy!
.

Kameya Wasabi Furikake can be purchased at Ippin Section of Metro Centerpoint Level 4.

(PRODUCT SHARING) Kameya Wasabi Dressing from Shizuoka Prefecture at METRO IPPIN

How to make wasabi lovers eat more vegetables? Give them Kameya Wasabi Dressing!

Kameya Wasabi dressing ($10) is made using the best quality wasabi grow on Mt. Amagi in Shizuoka Prefecture, that is blessed with abundant water from Kakita River formed by the groundwater of Mt. Fuji.

This dressing is light in consistency and uses an aromatic brewed vinegar as its base. Along with the Japanese soy sauce and horse radish wasabi, this is an appetizing concoction with good sour tang, balanced saltiness and subtle spiciness.
.

I often use this with my salad greens, and boiled or grilled vegetables. Just a splash of it gives them extra tastiness without unnecessary calories. I also like to use this as a sashimi dip or drizzle it on cold tofu that is topped with lots of spring onions as a healthy appetizer.

Kameya Wasabi Dressing can be found at Ippin Section of Metro Centerpoint Level 4.

(PRODUCT SHARING) Oshi Mugi from Aichi Prefecture at METRO IPPIN

‘Mugi’ your way to upgrade your rice’s nutritional value, deliciously!

Oshi (brand) Mugi ($9) is a type of rolled / pressed barley from Japan’s Aichi that is regarded  as “super food” for its nutrients and high amount of fiber. Its fiber content is greater than the quinoa and brown rice I have, and 15 times more than white rice.

The Japanese like to add a small amount of mugi to their rice (Mugi Meshi) and have them cooked together. The rice mixture will become more nutritious, and have a new dimension in flavor that is particularly sweet and nutty to me. Mugi Meshi tasted really good and I enjoyed its overall chewy texture.

The recommended rice to barley ratio is 7 : 3 but after some experimenting, I like it at 1 : 1 because I love my food to have more bites and textures. You can cook the mugi with the rice at the same timing because the barley is pressed to increase surface area for shorter cooking time.
.

We should try to eat more mugi whenever possible. Try ways such as cooking them in a porridge or baking them in breads since its soluble fiber can reduce cholesterol intake and keep us feeling full for longer.

Oshi Mugi can be purchased at Ippin Section of Metro Centerpoint Level 4.

(PRODUCT SHARING) miu Tomato Juice (Gold) by Nagoya LIDA Farm at METRO IPPIN

This is a holy grail for someone starting on tomato juice!

I have been drinking tomato juice which I believe for its health benefits, so looking out for more varieties and taste testing become relatable to me.

How often do you see tomato juice being bottled up so beautifully? Only the Japanese would and this miu Tomato Juice Gold ($40) from Nagoya Lida Farm is absolutely stunning with its long flute-like bottle. It bottle contains 300ml of tomato juice that is translucent.

miu Tomato Juice Gold has got gold standard because it is made from cherry tomatoes harvested in Nagoya, which is famous for their high sugar content. The sugar is produced naturally with the help of organic fertilizer, bonito and kelp. This tomato juice has no additional sugar, salt, coloring or preservatives. It is also additive and chemical free.

miu Tomato Juice tasted light and refreshing, almost like a tomato drink instead of juice. This is a little different from Ajikoi Tomato Juice (that I reviewed previously) which is thicker in viscosity and heavier in taste. Best to serve this tomato juice chilled or you can use it as a cocktail ingredient.

miu Tomato Juice (Gold) can be purchased at Ippin Section of Metro Level 4.

Ajikoi Tomato Juice can also be used to make jelly and other healthy desserts. For me, I like to use this as tomato sauce for cooking in my dishes such as tomato chili chicken and tomato fried quinoa. This is definitely healthier than tomato sauce and the flavor is really good.

(PRODUCT SHARING) Instant Noodles in Seafood Dashi Soup at METRO IPPIN

Are you a Somen, Ramen or Udon kind of person?

I always have this question in mind whenever I’m at IPPIN to buy these instant noodles that come with seafood dashi stock.

With these noodles being ‘slurpplicious’, I have the tendency to buy all of them at once. The real headache is I’m always tied to choose my favorite or what to cook for the day; end up cooking all the 3 and overeating happily.

The one in black is Udon with Seafood Dashi Soup ($12). This thin udon has a chewy texture and the broth comes with it has a tinge of spice compared to the other 2.

Came delicately in white, this is Somen with Seafood Dashi Soup ($12). Somen is the softest of the 3, and goes really well with the instant soup provided. There are flavors of chicken and leek in the soup, giving this bowl of japanese somen a homely touch.

Bright in red but nothing spicy, this Ramen with Seafood Dashi Soup is the favorite of my family. It has good springy texture that most instant ramen lack. I love to add an egg, bean sprouts and plenty of corn to the ramen when I have mood for a more elaborated meal.

Get the 3 of them at Metro Paragon (lvl 2) & Metro Centrepoint (lvl 4) IPPIN Section now. Happy noodling! 🍜

(Beauty Service Review) Slimming House Beauty at Tanjong Pagar Plaza, opposite Amara Hotel

I felt like I’m an ancient chinese princess, getting myself beautifully, inside out.

Untitled

This is how I felt whenever I’m at Slimming House Beauty. It does not have a posh or grand shop front, but definitely cosy with well trained therapists who can deliver professional treatments, addressing to our areas of concern.

Slimming House Beauty is conveniently located at Tanjong Pagar Plaza #0237 (opposite Amara Hotel), a unisex centre with private treatment rooms. They have several services available, with the objective to be a one-stop beauty hub from the traditional chinese medicine approach. A rather good way to improve wellness and beauty if you are on the treatments dutifully as a lifestyle regimen.

With these, I’ve tried their Cupping Slimming, HipWomb Treatment, and Eye Lashes Extensions and are happy with what I’ve received thus far.

Cupping for slimming? While the result on this is rather controversial, I would still like to experience it, especially when I’m taking this from health improving perspective.
.

Cupping therapy is an ancient effective method widely used in traditional chinese medicine. In fact, there are some olympics athletes also used this to stimulate the flow of energy in their body for fastest recuperation.
.

Making use of this technique, Slimming House Beauty do scrapping (起纱), gliding of the cups (走罐) and DRY cupping (拔罐) on crucial acupuncture points on the body to increase the energy (气) and blood flow. All of these will loosen up the overworked and underworked muscles, resulting in relieving of pain, detoxifying, and rebalancing of the organsfunctions.
.

Untitled

Slimming House Beauty applies 2030 different sized cups to the front & back of the body (arms & legs included) at a fixed price unlike places who charge by each treatment area. Thou the whole procedure can be intense, it can be adjusted to your comfort level by the skillful therapist.
.

The cupping itself is almost painless, but with temporary suction marks going off after one to two weeks. I definitely felt energized and having better sleeps and even lost weight without any exercise after 2 sessions. I bet my poor health is really hindering me from getting results from the dieting or exercising.

Looking like in some ancient beauty chambers? You are not wrong. They have many special treatment oil, amploues and cream to cater to the needs of their customers because they don’t believe in using cheap products purchased in bulks and had personally tried on these to test for their efficiencies.

Women MUST take good care of our wombs as they are prone to damages & illnesses when we neglected them over issues such as child birth, irregular menses, unhealthy diet, overactive and inactive sex drive & etc. The aftermaths from all these are cysts in womb, ovaries cancer and having a fat congested hip & thighs that refused to slim.

The HipWomb Treatment is the star treatment at Slimming House Beauty where they use specially formulated herbal treatment oil, along with scrapping and skillful massage on acupuncture points and lymph nodes. The treatment will end with a special machine using infrared heat to stimulate the acupuncture points of the abdomen from the front; improving the health of the womb simultaneously.

With this treatment, you will notice your menses cycle got regulated and this aids in omitting abnormal vaginal discharge, abdominal pain, menopausal syndrome & etc. At the same time, this helps to stimulate the production of more female hormones, resulting in better skin complexion, lesser pigmentation and acne, reduce of cellulite and inches (since waste material is broken down and discharged).

Slimming House Beauty also provide eyelash extension service where Exquisite Fine Hair or Synthetic Fibre can be extended on our lashes with the use of their prestigious Japanese Glue. The glue is of good quality and will reduce the chances of getting swelling eyes from it.

Their latest design includes 6D Japanese Eyelash Extension where the fine lashes are glued on strand by strand, with the ratio of 6 strands to every 1 original lash. This technique is said to be more natural and the extension can last slightly longer. Experience is pleasant especially when the workmanship is fast, good, and comes affordability from $58 onwards.

(PRODUCT SHARING) Kelp Powder Tea Kombucha at METRO IPPIN

It is a discovery everytime I’m at IPPIN!

Kombucha also known as tea mushroom is a fermented, slightly alcoholic and effervescent black or green tea drink. This is intended as a functional beverage with its claimed health benefits such as anti aging, relieve atherosclerosis, constipation, and diabetes, thou no evidence has shown to support these.

This kombucha tea I’m sharing has added kelp powder, salt and sugar to a perfect cup of tasty beverage. Kelp is a type of seaweed that is believed to be a superfood with good source of iodine and other trace minerals. Adding kelp powder to your diet may provide health benefits such as lowering of blood sugar, LDL cholesterol and cancer risk.

You can find this Kelp Powder Tea Kombucha ($11) at Metro Paragon (lvl 2) & Metro Centrepoint (lvl 4) IPPIN section for a great daily drink or thoughtful little gift to your love ones.
