I just came back from Seoul, Korea, recently and I’m still wishing I was back in the cold, with occasional snow while walking down the shopping streets of Garosu-gil, Hongdae and Myeongdong.
It’s 25 years into my life and it was my virgin visit to the popular travel destination, South Korea, to attend a K-Beauty conference – Made in Korea (MIK) 2017 – courtesy of MyFatPocket. It was my first time travelling with MFP’s Editor, Xinyi (@xinyicyndisoh) too. This short trip was a rather fruitful one as I got acquainted with many K-Beauty brands that are looking to expand to our tiny little red dot, ate many local dishes and bought even more makeup!
Before all the beauty reviews continue to populate Paradeoflove, I just want to pen down some of the interesting things I encountered in this metropolitan city, including beauty recommendations, food I’ve tried and some of the Instagram-worthy spots for your OOTDs in your next trip.
In this hectic lifestyle made crazy by the shift to digital, how are you coping with your stresses? Do you even have time to relax and recharge? For me, I’m constantly being put under pressure to deliver within tight deadlines not just at work, but also for my blogging. I sometimes find myself really stressed up but with no time to unwind. Do you too?
Thanks to AVEENO® c/o iHerb, I get to relax my senses every single day in my shower with its soothing and nourishing hair and body care range. Shower time has become me-time – time when I thoroughly loosen up and compose myself for greater challenges ahead of my day.
Flower-based skincare, who’s in? I’m definitely in! With the launch of floral-based Korean beauty brand, Mamonde, we’re once again spoilt for choice when it comes to Korean skincare. As you might have figured out by now, Mamonde, prides itself to nurture and enhance your natural beauty through the invigorating properties of flowers. The brand even has a real flower garden in Osan, located at the south of Seoul, where the key blooms like hibiscus, camellia, magnolia, honeysuckle and lotus are carefully-cultivated under expert botanists.
I’ve always been a believer of having flowers in skincare products, especially rose, because these beautiful works of nature actually provide nourishment and healing to our skin. In this post, I will share with you some of the skincare products I’ve been trying from Mamonde and hopefully you’ll find them useful for your skin too!
When my skin’s happy, I am happy! One of the main reasons why I’m really bubbly and happy-go-lucky lately is because of my skin. I’ve been feeling really confident in my skin for the past 2-3 months or so because it has drastically improved. I kid you not; I have been struggling with acne issues since I was a teenager, about 14 years old or so, to the extent that I needed to be on Oratane. The large, inflamed, cystic acne may have stop visiting me but I still get occasional break outs every month.
When I thought all hope was lost, I found a combination of different skincare products that work for me. If you’ve been following paradeoflove.com, you’ll know that one of the culprits for my clear complexion is the Allies of Skin Glow Gifter Set which contains the Molecular Saviour Mist and the Bright Future Overnight Facial.
Mask times are precious relax times and “Me” times, and I make sure that I indulge myself in it every day for at least 20 minutes. A “mask-time” a day, keeps stress at bay! Be it stress on the mind or on the skin, you can really take away the stresses with just 20 minutes of zoning out while you treat your skin. While masking is essential, it is even more important to choose the mask that best works for your skin.
I’m on for hydrating sheet masks almost every night, except nights where I feel that I need some skin detox. For nights like these, I reach out for the Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask, which I call, a miracle mask for my skin.
