Get your Chinese New Year Nails w/ Atastic!

Chinese New year is around the corner!

When I was kid, I used to love visiting relatives for our once a year family gathering. Besides the red packets, food and company. I really love the positive vibe everyone had!
My brother and I likes plucking those budding pussy willow at my granny’s place. As we get older, times like those changed but memories lasts forever.

Anyway, I brought Josaeus with me to Atastic yesterday to get my CNY nails done! Thankfully, he was obedient and didn’t move around too much.

My tip for a luckier new year*:
– wear everything new on the first day of new year
– be happy and do not have any arguements on the first day
-laugh as much as possible
-think rich,happy,healthy

This time I had my nails cut short as CNY is still 3 weeks away. So by the time CNY comes, the length would be just nice. I did 3D acrylic molds too! The sheeps on my fingers are handmade on the spot.

Atastics Nails for 2015 [ad]

Goodbye 2014 and Hello 2015!

I’ve been very motivated to settle my sons well being this year! I’ve spent the last year slogging away and this year I don’t want so much time to be wasted. Will be bringing Josaeus more on outdoor activities where he get more exposure to the sun and burn more energy to keep him balanced.

Back to topic, I just had my first set on nails done for 2015!

it has white, gold, pearls and roses in it! Clean new year for me! hope this year will be a great and full of accomplishments!

this time round I had to have extensions done on 4 fingers as my nails broke. Also, I changed my nails shape to round and did hand drawn white roses! I haven’t tried atastic’s manicurists drawing skills so this is it.

atastic nails

I might just stick to round nails if I’m keeping any extensions on! it’s so convenient and doesn’t scratch or pull on my hair! I’m totally loving round nails now.

During my previous visit, I forgot to snap some photos of the stickers for you girls!
These are the super cute cartoon ones I think most girls will love. There’s hello kitty, little twin stars,my melody( which I used on my previous session),crosses, chanels etc etc.
cartoon stickers

And they have pattern stickers too! great as bases for Charms to stick over. There’s so much more.

There’s too much charms for me to snap pictures for you girls. You can request Atastic to show them to you if you’re keen to get some on your nails.

Lastly, greats new for you girls!

Finally I did my hair!

Hello 2015!

If you’ve followed my instagram (mummymaine). You should know I’ve dyed my hair gradient red. It’s been so long since I went to a salon to get my hair done. < mummy commitments. So YES! I’m so happy I finally got to pamper myself after all these years.

A salons first impression is very important and I’m pretty sure Headlines dressing has that checked. Clean, simple yet elegant with full drop mirrors bringing the salon to a whole new level.

I really like the hair wash area, well lid and neatly arranged dyes and products.

Here’s my hair before treatment:

I dyed my hair on my own and there isn’t enough dye so it looks kinda patchy, dry and just plain messy.

After treatment:

Amazing isn’t it?
Director Hairstylist Jerry lighten sections of my hair for the gradient effect.

He also did 3 step Mucota treatment after to help manage/protect my dry & damaged hair.

3step treatment mucato

The Mucota 3 step treatments starts with moisturizing the hair followed by protein treatment and lastly CMC treatment which locks the moisture/protein in the hair for smoother, healthier, shinier hair. oyes, my head feels slightly lighter too!

final check

Here’s a side by side photo:

Chinese New Year is around the corner so why not try getting a redhead! Dull plain red head has long been over. Now, there are many styles to dye your hair that won’t make you look old with bold colours. Be different this year!

Atastic Nails [Ad]

During my first visit to Atastic, there wasn’t many charms, stickers and designs available as Atastic was newly opened. This time round, there are at least 30 over charms designs and 100 over stickers for you to choose from.

I had a hard time deciding! Not forgetting that more nail design samples are available.

atastic nails

So, instead of the usual Christmas theme nail design, I chose a simple yet sweet and calming design this Season!

stripes,blings & My Melody stickers
mummymaine atastic both hands

This time, I didn’t get any nail extensions done and I did normal gelish instead of hardgel. I wanted to try out different kinds of manicures every session so I could share my thoughts and preference.

Previously, I had gel extensions and did hard gel. I don’t think hard gel suits me as its too thick for me to pick up stuffs my son dropped. (eg cards, coins, papers).

First visit
session 1 atastic

So I removed the extensions, used lesser blings and did normal gelish.

Second visit
mummymaine atastic

Choosing lighter shades this time round too! Melody isn’t something I go crazy over but I find the stickers matched the design I chose really well. Even after Christmas is over, my nails isn’t out of season! Yes, there’s little twin stars, hello kitty stickers too.

mummymaine atastic thumbs

I’d prefer gelish to hardgel for convenience. However, from all the washing and squeezing I do daily. Gelish could’nt last as long. it’ll be just fine for you if you don’t wash and squeeze your laundry that often. no worries!

Here’s a price list for your perusal :

The promotional package prices are so affordable with only 3 sessions instead of the usual 12 sessions which you have to pay so much at one go.

Here are some Christmas Designs that you missed this year! Perhaps you can go for the New Year Designs(:

These are hand drawn/made 3D nail arts.

Catch ‘N Bite – Review

A few months back, I was invited for a Catch ‘N Bite’s food tasting event held in Westgate.

 Catch ‘N Bite
food variety catchnbite

I’m not a sandwich person till I became a mom. Why so? My toddler boy couldn’t sit still for long and having meals that require the use of forks and spoon is pretty messy, especially when I’m out alone with him. My solution, fast food restaurants~ I’m pretty sick of Mac and BK already so this invite came just about time.

I’ll skip the “about us” for Catch ‘N Bite and get straight to point. If you’re interested to know more, do check out about us .

Since Catch ‘N Bite are known for their Crunchin’ Crab Sandwich. I wanted to try it out myself.

A WHOLE CRAB and it’s the real deal not some processed meat. I just felt the sandwich was a little too oily for me, taste wise yummy. It’s worth a try definitely.

Crunchin’ Crab ($8.90)
crunchin' crab sandwich

In CRE’O Bites, I tried the calamari, shrimps and crispy fish.

Calamari bites was slightly chewy to my liking and isn’t rubbery.
Shrimps & Fish bites was yummy but a tad too oily. But tell me, which fastfood isn’t oily?

Crispy Calamari ($5.90)

Even Josaeus loves the fish bites! Half a cup of fish and shrimp bites, no doubt it’s yummy. Kids don’t lie. But do cool it down a little before letting your kids have them, it can be quite heaty. Also, remember to feed them vitamin C tablets and drink lots of water!
josaeus eating catchnbite

Lastly, Seafood Tarts!

So many to choose from and they all look so yummy. I tried the Egg Mayo Ebiko and Smoked Salmon & Sour Cream Tapas. Both were Deliciously yummy! I ordered a second serving of tarts!

*Tip: try to eat the tart in ONE bite. this way you get to taste the tart properly, for me at least.

Egg Mayo Ebiko Tart ($2.50)

They do serve Bento Sets as well but I couldn’t comment much as it wasn’t available that day ): so you might wish to try them out and probably let me know ? (:

Overall I’d rate Catch N’ Bite 8/10 for affordability,freshness & taste!

Oyes, Catch N’ Bite is Halal Certified so this means everyone can ENJOY the food! how nice!

Atastic Manicures for your heart & soul [Ad]

I’m happy to announce that Atastic Manicure Salon will be my official Nail Sponsor for the next few months(:

I haven’t had any Manicure done before as I felt I’m a very chor lor(rough) person. Besides that, Classic Manicures wouldn’t last and Gelish are costly to me.

However here at Atastic, they offer VERY reasonably cheap prices as their aim is to let  customers be able to pamper your nails on LONG term basis instead of those costly salons where you could only only get your nails fixed once every 2 months due to the price.

Friday was Atastic’s Grand Opening, Jerlinda and myself had the privilege to attend their opening and be the first to get our nails pampered!

When you hear Atastic, you’ll think the salon is very very Atas But no. Atastic was named to make your nails feel “Atas” instead of the Salon being Atas. The salon itself is pretty cozy. I specially love the arm chairs! I could lay there all day without having aches all over after my manicure. The clear glass panel might seem to get very warm during the afternoons, we were wrong! there wasn’t any east sun and you can look out for traffic during peak hours if you’re planning to go somewhere after (: *thumb ups*

Even before the salon officially open-ed, customers were already coming in!

We-fie before we start our session (:

Heart Balloons specially prepared for us! So thoughtful!

And obviously one We-fie wasn’t enough !

The Salon uses “Angel Pro Gel” Polishes FYI, not some nameless unknown brand (:

I did Hard Gel with extensions as I have very short nail bed which looks extremely ugly.

say Twist to beautiful nails!

Ta Dah! My Beautiful Nails(: Sweet on one hand and punk on the other.

oh and if you’re wondering why my cuticle wasn’t nice. That’s because I didn’t get my cuticle done. I was in a hurry and couldn’t do it. So please just focus on the beautiful designs heh.

here’s the waiting area if you’re done and your girlfriends isn’t. I wouldn’t  mind waiting for hours if it’s this beautiful .

Lastly, the Lady behind all these! Li Ting The general manager of Atastic.

Domino’s for you?

Earlier this month, I had the privilege to attend domino’s food tasting session. thank you Jerlinda ,William & of course Domino’s!

In case you’re wondering who she is, she’s my fellow bff guest blogger at myfatpocket!

she blogs here.
domino's event

I’m sure many of you heard of domino’s yes? However, they are not the usual pizza store you’d see in Singapore. Let me perk you up for some great deals and enjoy domino’s without having to worry too much about being unhealthy.

Have you ever had a party that needed last minute extra food? have you had a day where you wake up super hungry with nothing to eat at home and you’re lazy to go out? Have you ordered for delivery with some other “fast” food restaurant delivery that takes at least 45-60mins?

Compared to other fastfood chains, Domino’s has the fastest and guaranteed delivery islandwide!

Freshly baked and delivered to your door within 30mins guaranteed! If not, you’ll receive a coupon for a free pizza on your next order.

Not forgetting they provide FREE delivery. All prices are Nett.

Same goes for counter ordering, by 15mins and your order isn’t’ll receive a free pizza voucher for your next order:)

Here’s domino’s current promo:

 domino's deals

With just $22, you can enjoy 2 regular pizzas with free delivery to your door. Its only $1.80+ per piece of pizza! Enough to feed at least 3 guys?

regular pizza size

Or if you’re having a party/gathering, for $33 and $44 you can get 2 large pizza and 2 extra large pizza respectively! Super worth I’d say! *a big thumbs up* I’m gonna be a regular at domino’s for my parties.

*do note this offer applies for the all time favourites pizzas range only. For classic and first class range, surcharges apply.

Did I mention you get to customise your pizza? From the wide range of pizza crusts and sauces. Why not! This way, you’re sure to love the pizza you “made”.

I personally love Domino’s classic pepperoni pizza! Made with classic hand tossed crust with Domino’s tomato sauce. It’s oh so heavenly well.. my kinda pizza heaven.

classic pepperoni

To top it off, Domino’s came up with ‘double delights’ a wide range of scrumptious sides, delectable desserts and refreshing beverages that comes in pairs!

domino's double delight

I love love love their onion rings, it’s alittle too salty. Just shake off the garlic powder on top and it’ll be perfect.

onions rings

Also, chocolate lava cake! I even “tabaoed(packed)” one home!

domino's lava cake

Oyes, do make sure you try their lastest addition, napolitana baked meet balls. Expensive($10.80) I find but definitely worth at least a try.

meatballs domino's

Remember I said not to worry too much about being unhealthy.Everything in domino’s menu(except beverages duh) are BAKED!yes, including their onion rings, meat balls etc..Talk about healthier life style.

I’m not saying its a healthy choice uh! But it’s definitely a great choice to treat yourself once in awhile!

Happy Domino-ing!

Ps: I’m not paid or asked to promote domino’s. I was merely treated with all sorts of pizzas and sides from domino’s and wanted to share my honest thoughts!

Cool De Sac – it’s more than just a indoor playground

Brought Josaeus to try out the New Indoor Playground at Suntec City last week

Cool De Sac

Unlike Most IP(indoor playgrounds), Kids at Cool De Sac  doesn’t have much climbing to do. However, there are many different stations for different age groups and genders!

Lego Blocks Corner, Dress Up, DIYstation, Drawing Corners, Gaming Consoles Area,toddlers/kids section & even face painting done professionally by the staffs there!

One thing I really like about Cool De Sac is that every station has at least 1-2 staffs overlook the area. From entertaining kids to rearranging the messy corner every hour. This not only keeps the whole place well organised, it also keeps the children there safe from tripping on anything on the ground and all.

Cool De Sac

Oyes, there’s also a corner for parents to park their strollers and keep their footwear. Diaper changing area available too. Lockers are provided too at a price that is. I’m not sure of the price though, did not rent one during my visit. The only con here is that there isn’t any washroom in the premises.

Here’s a small outlook for the Lego, Dress up & face painting Corners.
Cool De Sac

Too bad I don’t have a daughter, else the Dress Up corner is going to be my favourite! There’s even a stage with spotlights just for that. I saw a little girl dressed like a princess and she had a extremely pretty hand drawn butterfly mask around her eyes! SO well drawn! Kuddos to the staffs there seriously.

This Corner here is 1 out of 2 ‘climbing grounds’ for kids at Cool De Sac. There’s a mini flying fox area there.
Cool De Sac

The Tots Area is rather small especially when parents have to be with their kids. The ball pit is pathetically SMALL, only able to house at most 2-4 toddlers. However, there are lots of toys available for kids who don’t really fancy balls to play with.

* look in the photo below, that corner where my Josaeus is sitting. That’s the ball pit area.. it’s like a mini triangle shaped pit.
Cool De Sac

you’ll probably want to go during off peak hours with your baby/toddler. If there are more than 5 babies in there, its going to be too crowded. (IMO)

Josaeus LOVES the lego section! he can’t build anything yet but he love grabbing lego pieces from different containers and putting them in a particular place.
Cool De Sac

I was trying to teach him to fix those pieces and he learn fairly quick.
Cool De Sac

there’s a whole stretch of sitting area for parents to sit and watch their elder kids. Josaeus here is such a monkey.
Cool De Sac

this is good for strengthening kids arm strength.(IMO) Surprisingly, Josaeus is able to hold himself for sometime. Oyes! there’s another mini ball pit under the huge slide, I found it while chasing Josaeus around the area.
Cool De Sac

Beside all that entertainment Cool De Sac has, they also has a Bistro! Kids/toddler menu available too! the Prices are slightly on the higher end. You can check out their menus here

Here’s what I ordered, beer battered fish and chips with fries.
Cool De Sac
The portion was huge!(the fries that is) the dory fish was nice but slightly on the oilier side. For $16 bucks, I feel it’s alright for the serving and quality. I also bought a scoop of ice cream for Josaeus. It was disappointing! melting already when we got it and the quality of the ice cream is really bad. I ordered the vanilla flavour, not sure about the other flavours. For $3 its definitely not worth it.

So that’s all for my thoughts on Cool De Sac. i’ll definitely visit them again! it’s a pretty affordable place for parents to reward their kids once in awhile (: location wise, it’s good that parents get to shop around Suntec City and Marina Square too! win win solution for the family.

More Details on Cool De Sac:

Cool De Sac

*disclaimer: I’m not paid or whatever to post this. I’m just purely sharing my thoughts and views on Cool De Sac as a mom.

Alive Museum Singapore

Do you know there are 2 3D illusionary museums in Singapore?

Other than Trick Eye Museum which most of us heard of or actually heard of alive museum but thought it was trick eye museum. (like me)

Alive Museum promises to be a fun and unique treat for everyone! And it’s the biggest 3D illusionary museum in Singapore! Which means = No squeezing or feeling all cramped*yay!*

Apart from that, Alive Museum is easily accessible being located in town. Unlike Trick Eye whereas you have to pay an extra admission island charge to go into sentosa. Not forgetting the pricier parking fees too!
