Finally to Bukit Batok Nature Park

Instead of watching cartoons or playing ipad games etc.. I want Josaeus to have more exposure to Nature and real games instead of those you play thru the screens.

I’ve brought him to these places and the list will keep growing!
East Coast Park (free)
Singapore Zoo
River Safari
Jurong Bird Park
Labrador Park
West Coast Park (free)
Sea Aquarium
Universal Studio Singapore
Alive Museum
Woodlands waterfront (free)
Farm mart (free)
Qian Hu Fish Farm (free)
Wild Wild Wet
Sentosa (free if you walk in)
Jurong East Swimming Complex
Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex
Bukit Batok Swimming Complex
Safra at Mount Faber
Changi Airport
Bukit batok nature reserve (free)
Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve (soon)
Jurong West Swimming Complex (soon)
Port of lost wonder(soon)

I didn’t realise the list was this long till I typed them out! Didn’t manage to blog about them as I was either playing with Jo, have too many stuff to carry or simply just lazy to snap pictures.

With Jo being in Pre nursery now, I’ll be even busier as the school isn’t near our place and I’ve also recently found a job that allows me to bring Jo to work and it’s immediately after Jo ends school! Not forgetting that I still have laundry to wash and room to pack (whoops, haven’t had the mood or time to pack the room for sometime already. it looks like junk now) Busy Busy!

Back to topic > Bukit Batok Nature Reserve <

Always wanted to bring Jo there so last week I finally did! Parked at meeting point 1 carpark and walked/hiked all the way to meeting point 3! Not much people in the afternoons so try to go in pairs.

bukit batok nature park

At one point, I was all alone with Jo for at least 30mins as we hiked thru the trials. I was feeding tons of Mozzies despite spraying repellent! Jo was initially a little freaked out from the silence so I kept singing songs for him.

bukit batok nature reserve

Walked our way to the Pond Plaza and Hiked up to War Memorial 3. Beware of Stairs stairs stairs and super steep slopes if you’re hiking up the War Memorial from meeting point 1. I was pushing Jo in his mini tricycle that’s slightly rusted and wearing slippers WTF stupid or what.

However, the place is pretty photographic I’d say and the sense of accomplishment you felt when you reached the top of the memorial is FANTASTIC!

Things to bring:
mosquito repellent
wet wipes
a medium size towel (can be used to wipe your perspiration or emergencies)
snacks (bread fruits)
mini first aid kit( you can diy, alcohol wipes, plasters, band aid)
portable fan

Activities you can do there:
-there’s a fitness corner so if you’re tired from all that hiking, you can rest around the fitness corner and do some low impact workouts.
-Feed the fishes/tortoises at Pond Plaza
-Spot different types of birds there
-find monitor lizards! those there are pretty small and nice. we were so close to one that was digging for food. *close as in 1 meter away!
-find squirrels and monkies!
-talk to pet owners. I couldn’t resist walking towards a dog so I ended up talk to its owner while Jo plays with the dog! the sweet lady adopted the dog that was going to be euthanize the next day! thank goodness!
-picnic * I don’t really encourage this unless you don’t mind feeding the mozzies
-typical jogging
-tai ji

You’ll spend at least half a day there! So much to admire and appreciate when you look.

More to come!

Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Hair Treatment at Headline Hairdressing

I tried bleaching my hair on my own using cheap hair bleach bought online which ends up causing my hair to be crispy and super fizzy.

During my first visit to Headlines hair dressing. Jerry my hair stylist, wanted to fix my hair thru Mucota Dyna Argon Oil Hair Treatment.

However, I wanted to get my hair dyed for the new year. So this second visit, I’m back to give my hair some pampering!

What is Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Hair Treatment?

dyna argan oil treatment

Originating from Japan, Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Hair Treatment helps to improve fizzy hair situations. Leaving hair soft, light and naturally straight.

-There’s 100% no formaldehyde, a cancer causing substance commonly found in most hair straighteners.

-It is also Ammonia free & completely safe for pregnant mummies to be!

-It is made mainly from Argan Oil, Omega-3, Omega-6, Jojoba, Castor, Honey, Shea Butter & Collagen.

Benefits of Argan Oil is known throughout history!
It so rich and nourishing that it treats anything from skin infections to beauty regimes.
argan oil

“ One of the main reasons that argan oil is so healing, is that it is rich with vitamin A and vitamin E. However, argan oil is also packed with anti-oxidants, Omega-6 fatty acids, and linoleic acid. Research shows that when applied to skin, it eases inflammation while moisturizing the skin.

When applied externally, trocopherol from the vitamin E, helps to boost cell production while promoting healthy skin and hair. This is why cosmetic companies are including it in their high-end anti-aging, hair, and skin care products.”
Source: Dr

Benefits of Jojoba & Castor Oil
-increase hair cell growth
– deeply conditions and moisturises like argan oil
-makes hair look fuller and shinier

No doubt my hair needs the treatment real bad.

here’s a before picture of my hair

Look at my ends
before ends

Super frizzy, crispy ends, split ends, curls from clipping my hair most of the time.
I swear I did not purposely make my hair look so crappy. It was like this naturally, that’s why I clipped my hair most of the time and also because Jo tends to pull my hair when he’s younger so it sort of became a habit for me.

The whole treatment took about 3hours for me on a weekday though.

There’s basically 3 main parts of the treatment:

1st part
A hair wash to remove all the excess oil excreted & to apply the step 1 Dyna cream.
Leave it on for 30mins.

2nd part
Wash and blow
after, using a flat iron to seal the nourishment from the treatment cream deep into the cuticles.

3rd part
Apply after treatment cream, leave it on for another 20mins to further moisturise the hair.

Wash and blow

Another final round of flat ironing.

There you have it, a smooth, super light and naturally straight yet not too flat hair.

It has been slightly over 2 weeks since I had this treatment & my hair is still soft, tangle-free! Best of all, I didn’t even bother to blow dry/ comb my hair all the time!

I honestly highly recommend this Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Treatment.
It’s good to pamper your hair once in awhile.

For those who wishes to try this treatment after all that reading, Great News for you!

Domino’s all new Golden Chicken Tenders

Ah super late back-blog..

I’ve been super occupied with my son. He just started school and have yet to adapt. Now both Josaeus and I have separation anxiety!! :'(

So back to topic.
I was invited by my babe Jerlinda for another round of Domino’s Food Tasting event last month.

Deliciously baked chicken tenders covered in different sauces and cheese!

These Golden Chicken Tenders are new on the menu!
dominos golden chicken

4 different flavors to choose from:

Golden Mexican Chicken
Oven baked spicy chicken tenders covered in salsa sauce, pineapples, green capsicums, olives and cherry tomatoes

Golden Mediterranean Chicken
Oven baked chicken tenders covered in Napolitana sauce, cherry tomatoes, olives and feta cheese

Golden Outback Chicken
Oven baked chicken tenders covered in BBQ sauce, olives, green and red capsicums

Golden Italian Chicken
Oven baked spicy chicken tenders covered in Pesto sauce, pineapples, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese

‘I personally prefer the outback chicken tenders as i love BBQ sauces and also capsicum. I don’t usually take olive BUT I love domino’s olive!’ The chicken tenders are oven baked so it’s healthier and of course less oil. Not over or under baked leaving the chicken tenders “tender” and not too dry.

Or if you wish to try a Golden Chicken Tender. Simply +$1 to swap your personal pizza for a chicken Tender!

Overview of my thoughts and experience with Atastic Nails [Ad]

So my 6 sponsored session with Atastic Manicure ends here(: Even though some things wasn’t as expected. I’m still glad I got to experience gelish for the first time with Atastic.

I tried almost all kinds of Manicure from normal gelish, gel extension, 3D acrylic, nail stickers & charms, hand drawn nail art. I also got to try different length and shapes for my nails.

atastic nails

Even though I was sponsored, I would try to put myself in a paying customers’ point of view. For me, price, quality and location of the salon is very important. I wouldn’t want to pay so much just to travel all the way to the other side of Singapore just to get a lousy Manicure done.

I admit Atastic Manicure’s location isn’t exactly convenient when it’s raining. There isn’t a completely sheltered way to reach Blair house from the train station. However, the ambiance of the place made me ‘close an eye’. I love the comfy sofa chairs and the full drop glass windows.  The whole place was meant to be simple yet comfortable for customers themselves and their pockets.

So this explains why the prices at Atastic is affordable. Less capital for renovations = more affordability for customers! However, low prices at Atastic doesn’t mean they cut back on the quality of their products.

Atastic only uses AngelPro products which are:
about angelpro

It isn’t as damanging to the nails and doesn’t turn the nails yellow! However, it depends alot on the skill of your Manicurist. Some might file your nails too thinly that might cause your nail to break easily or even bleed from inside.

I personally recommend you to ask for Lina when you visit Atastic. She’s very serious about her work and make sure my nails are in good condition. My nails done by her lasts longer too! She’s also very creative in designs.

This particular design was on Lina’s fingers when I saw it! She designed it herself (: The roses are hand drawn by her too!

All in all, Atastic is worth a try! They have very attractive packages that doesn’t cost a thousand for 10 sessions etc. Atastic’s packages are short, 3/5/10 sessions.

Thank you Atastic for this Amazing opportunity!

Atastic Nails [Ad]

During my first visit to Atastic, there wasn’t many charms, stickers and designs available as Atastic was newly opened. This time round, there are at least 30 over charms designs and 100 over stickers for you to choose from.

I had a hard time deciding! Not forgetting that more nail design samples are available.

atastic nails

So, instead of the usual Christmas theme nail design, I chose a simple yet sweet and calming design this Season!

stripes,blings & My Melody stickers
mummymaine atastic both hands

This time, I didn’t get any nail extensions done and I did normal gelish instead of hardgel. I wanted to try out different kinds of manicures every session so I could share my thoughts and preference.

Previously, I had gel extensions and did hard gel. I don’t think hard gel suits me as its too thick for me to pick up stuffs my son dropped. (eg cards, coins, papers).

First visit
session 1 atastic

So I removed the extensions, used lesser blings and did normal gelish.

Second visit

Choosing lighter shades this time round too! Melody isn’t something I go crazy over but I find the stickers matched the design I chose really well. Even after Christmas is over, my nails isn’t out of season! Yes, there’s little twin stars, hello kitty stickers too.

mummymaine atastic thumbs

I’d prefer gelish to hardgel for convenience. However, from all the washing and squeezing I do daily. Gelish could’nt last as long. it’ll be just fine for you if you don’t wash and squeeze your laundry that often. no worries!

Here’s a price list for your perusal :

The promotional package prices are so affordable with only 3 sessions instead of the usual 12 sessions which you have to pay so much at one go.

Here are some Christmas Designs that you missed this year! Perhaps you can go for the New Year Designs(:

These are hand drawn/made 3D nail arts.

Catch ‘N Bite – Review

A few months back, I was invited for a Catch ‘N Bite’s food tasting event held in Westgate.

 Catch ‘N Bite
food variety catchnbite

I’m not a sandwich person till I became a mom. Why so? My toddler boy couldn’t sit still for long and having meals that require the use of forks and spoon is pretty messy, especially when I’m out alone with him. My solution, fast food restaurants~ I’m pretty sick of Mac and BK already so this invite came just about time.

I’ll skip the “about us” for Catch ‘N Bite and get straight to point. If you’re interested to know more, do check out about us .

Since Catch ‘N Bite are known for their Crunchin’ Crab Sandwich. I wanted to try it out myself.

A WHOLE CRAB and it’s the real deal not some processed meat. I just felt the sandwich was a little too oily for me, taste wise yummy. It’s worth a try definitely.

Crunchin’ Crab ($8.90)
crunchin' crab sandwich

In CRE’O Bites, I tried the calamari, shrimps and crispy fish.

Calamari bites was slightly chewy to my liking and isn’t rubbery.
Shrimps & Fish bites was yummy but a tad too oily. But tell me, which fastfood isn’t oily?

Crispy Calamari ($5.90)

Even Josaeus loves the fish bites! Half a cup of fish and shrimp bites, no doubt it’s yummy. Kids don’t lie. But do cool it down a little before letting your kids have them, it can be quite heaty. Also, remember to feed them vitamin C tablets and drink lots of water!
josaeus eating catchnbite

Lastly, Seafood Tarts!

So many to choose from and they all look so yummy. I tried the Egg Mayo Ebiko and Smoked Salmon & Sour Cream Tapas. Both were Deliciously yummy! I ordered a second serving of tarts!

*Tip: try to eat the tart in ONE bite. this way you get to taste the tart properly, for me at least.

Egg Mayo Ebiko Tart ($2.50)

They do serve Bento Sets as well but I couldn’t comment much as it wasn’t available that day ): so you might wish to try them out and probably let me know ? (:

Overall I’d rate Catch N’ Bite 8/10 for affordability,freshness & taste!

Oyes, Catch N’ Bite is Halal Certified so this means everyone can ENJOY the food! how nice!

Cool De Sac – it’s more than just a indoor playground

Brought Josaeus to try out the New Indoor Playground at Suntec City last week

Cool De Sac

Unlike Most IP(indoor playgrounds), Kids at Cool De Sac  doesn’t have much climbing to do. However, there are many different stations for different age groups and genders!

Lego Blocks Corner, Dress Up, DIYstation, Drawing Corners, Gaming Consoles Area,toddlers/kids section & even face painting done professionally by the staffs there!

One thing I really like about Cool De Sac is that every station has at least 1-2 staffs overlook the area. From entertaining kids to rearranging the messy corner every hour. This not only keeps the whole place well organised, it also keeps the children there safe from tripping on anything on the ground and all.

Cool De Sac

Oyes, there’s also a corner for parents to park their strollers and keep their footwear. Diaper changing area available too. Lockers are provided too at a price that is. I’m not sure of the price though, did not rent one during my visit. The only con here is that there isn’t any washroom in the premises.

Here’s a small outlook for the Lego, Dress up & face painting Corners.
Cool De Sac

Too bad I don’t have a daughter, else the Dress Up corner is going to be my favourite! There’s even a stage with spotlights just for that. I saw a little girl dressed like a princess and she had a extremely pretty hand drawn butterfly mask around her eyes! SO well drawn! Kuddos to the staffs there seriously.

This Corner here is 1 out of 2 ‘climbing grounds’ for kids at Cool De Sac. There’s a mini flying fox area there.
Cool De Sac

The Tots Area is rather small especially when parents have to be with their kids. The ball pit is pathetically SMALL, only able to house at most 2-4 toddlers. However, there are lots of toys available for kids who don’t really fancy balls to play with.

* look in the photo below, that corner where my Josaeus is sitting. That’s the ball pit area.. it’s like a mini triangle shaped pit.
Cool De Sac

you’ll probably want to go during off peak hours with your baby/toddler. If there are more than 5 babies in there, its going to be too crowded. (IMO)

Josaeus LOVES the lego section! he can’t build anything yet but he love grabbing lego pieces from different containers and putting them in a particular place.
Cool De Sac

I was trying to teach him to fix those pieces and he learn fairly quick.
Cool De Sac

there’s a whole stretch of sitting area for parents to sit and watch their elder kids. Josaeus here is such a monkey.
Cool De Sac

this is good for strengthening kids arm strength.(IMO) Surprisingly, Josaeus is able to hold himself for sometime. Oyes! there’s another mini ball pit under the huge slide, I found it while chasing Josaeus around the area.
Cool De Sac

Beside all that entertainment Cool De Sac has, they also has a Bistro! Kids/toddler menu available too! the Prices are slightly on the higher end. You can check out their menus here

Here’s what I ordered, beer battered fish and chips with fries.
Cool De Sac
The portion was huge!(the fries that is) the dory fish was nice but slightly on the oilier side. For $16 bucks, I feel it’s alright for the serving and quality. I also bought a scoop of ice cream for Josaeus. It was disappointing! melting already when we got it and the quality of the ice cream is really bad. I ordered the vanilla flavour, not sure about the other flavours. For $3 its definitely not worth it.

So that’s all for my thoughts on Cool De Sac. i’ll definitely visit them again! it’s a pretty affordable place for parents to reward their kids once in awhile (: location wise, it’s good that parents get to shop around Suntec City and Marina Square too! win win solution for the family.

More Details on Cool De Sac:

Cool De Sac

*disclaimer: I’m not paid or whatever to post this. I’m just purely sharing my thoughts and views on Cool De Sac as a mom.

Great deals this Great Singapore Sale 2014

I’m so sorry for this super late blog post. I haven’t had the chance to blog.

Well anyway, you’ve still got a day or two before these greater deals ends:)

5 great deals in fashion:

lowry farm

I really like this brand from Japan. Be it footwear, hear gears or apparels. The quality is always there! I personally love their T shirts! Got a couple of them already:) and if im not wrong, their shirts are going at $14.90 onwards this great singapore sale!

This vintage brand definitely deserves this spot. Its no longer as pricey as it used to be.(that’s a good news!) and their having up to 60% discount right now!

Their jeans lasts for years! So much better than those from Forever21 or Gap in my opinion.

Also from Japan, uniqlo mainly focuses on basics. Likewise their quality is no doubt superb! Do check out their Airism range, extremely light weight and cooling for our current weather. Oyes, there’s an ongoing mobile app discount too. Theres definitely something for you.

Previously known as gmarket. You can buy almost anything there! From kitchen appliances to apparels. But do read thru reviews left by buyers before buying and remember to compare prices around to get the best deals around.

Tip: time sale items isn’t necessarily the cheapest and better ones. Do search thru the category and check out the reviews:)

One of the best online shopping sites you can ever go to! What’s best, they provide free 30day returns and free shipping! *T&C required. You can expect to receive your items within 2days

I’m not too sure what’s currently on sale but i remember seeing brands like guess and Melissa going on sale up to 50%!

Hopefully brands like bobbi brown, Mac will be on sale too.

Similar to Zalora but focuses on cosmetics and skincare aka beauty. They too provide free delivery and often has discounts codes emailed to members! My current fav are the eyeshadows from alima pure. Highly pigmented and long lasting with primer on:) not too pricey too!

LA senza lingerie

It’s considered beauty right? Well anyway, vivocity’s outlet is having a semi annual clearance sale. Not sure when they’ll end so be quick!
