First Bangkok trip with Josaeus

So last July, I started searching for the cheapest flights to BKK. I settled for Airasia as it has the cheapest deals at that time( before the airasia disaster). The only con was that Josaeus’s ticket was considered adult! In total we paid about 187SGD per person, 2-way with 20kg check in baggage, insurance & seat selection.

Everything went smoothly through out and I’m happy to say the locals are very friendly and helpful! At the airport, they have priority queue catered for elderly/parents with kids/disabled at the arrival/departure hall so we won’t have to wait too long.

jo plane

My mom bought Jo a airasia plushie! it’s very cute but alittle pricey. 350 Baht. Jo loves it! I’m glad Jo sat thru the flight alright, no crying or was he in any discomfort.

jo in the plane

However, do book a flight that lands in  Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) instead of Don Muang Airport (DMK) Bangkok. As Suvarnabhumi airport rail link is directly connected to the airport, this way you don’t have to get stuck in the traffic by bus or taxi.

Here’s the map:

We had to take a bus to the Bang Sue BTS station and Train down to Mo chit Station and change to Green Line as my hotel is located beside Ratchaprarop Station. Very Troublesome especially with our huge lugguages! A kind citizen guided us all the way from Bang Sue to Phaya Thai Station when he is going the other way. Really sweet of him, wish I could Thank him again personally! Well anyway, Thank You kind Man!

Hotel wise, I booked KC place thru Agoda. It’s a 3 star and I paid about $42SGD per night. It’s affordable and clean. If you’re not planning to stay in the hotel too much except for sleeping, KC place is good.

Benefits of KC place
. It’s just beside Ratchaprarop station
. 2 bottles of complimentary water daily

.in room safe
.good water pressure in the toilet

Tip before booking:
you can leave a remark to the hotel for large bed, higher floors, non smoking & quiet rooms. The hotel will try to fulfill your requests whenever they can.

For my case, I noted that I wanted a quiet room with large bed and I’m glad KC place made it possible! Also I very much needed the freezing compartment in the mini fridge as I bought chicken meat from Big C to cook for Josaeus’s porridge/soup.

As expected, Pratunum Wholesale market was extremely crowded in the morning. I went at 5/6am with my mom and its impossible for me to bring Josaeus along! Lots of locals buying in bulks at super cheap prices to sell at platinum or night markets! So do walk around the morning wholesale markets before going to Platinum Mall. You’ll definitely find what you want here at a fraction of the price.

sorry for the blurry photos. I was pushed all the time and can hardly stand still to take a picture.

Best time to go Pratunam Morning wholesale market: 6am
The morning wholesale market closes as early as 8am! so do make sure to wake up early.

I got 2 shirts at 80Baht(less than $4 SGD) each here! Mom got 6 pouches at 100Baht($4SGD)

Oyes, I managed to try the Famous Wonton Mee everyone was raving about in Pratunam. The shop was filled with Singaporeans, left and right haha.

The same stall that sells this Wonton Mee, has this very yummy dish * I forgot the name. Maybe you can just show them the picture?

Very unhealthy but very very delicious! extremely tender and savoury. Oh my I want to go back.

I only got 1 shirt(100Baht),2 shorts(180 baht each),3 sets of lingerie(300baht) from here. It’s alot pricier so I prefer the wholesale market or night markets.

I tried the desserts at level 5/6 food court. It sucks. Those roadside ones are so much yummier and cheaper. There’s also a downside to buy at the food court here, we had to buy a card and deposit money inside to buy with that card. I find it really troublesome and time wasting..

The next few days we went to Chatuchak, Chinatown, Big C Supermarket, Paragon & Central World.

I love chatuchak but it’s so freaking hot there! Super crowded too! Not surprised thou. Chatuchak has everything you need from pottery to animals!

Here’s the map of Chatuchak. It doesn’t look as neat as the maps thou. I was going round in small circles and couldn’t find the popular coconut ice cream everyone was raving about :( I’ll be back soon!!

chatuchak map

Chatuchak has really nice and cheap Children’s apparels compared to Platinum. I didn’t buy any for Jo at Platinum but bought lots of stuffs here for Jo. When you buy more you can bargain more! There’s one shop where I bought 3 shirts for Jo at only 250 Baht. Quality,Prints and Stitches are fantastic. Even better than Cotton on’s.

Shoes were from Chinatown at 80 Baht.

I also bought 2 inspired Haivanas Slippers for my mother in law and myself. One of the shops was selling them at only 80 Baht while the other shops was 120 Baht! I’d window shop for a round first to compare prices then buy on my second round. I saved alot and get to focus on what I was looking for.

The Jeans at Chatuchak is only slightly cheaper around 200 Baht while Platinum sells at 250 Baht. I bought from Platinum due to difference in Quality. If you’re looking for denim shorts, buy from Pratunam Morning Wholesale market! I bought 3 for 400 Baht. Those that is commonly seen in Blog shops that sells for $24.90 SGD each!

Then we went Central World for Naraya!

I bought a Sun hat for SGD $9.90? But It was very useful even in Singapore! Money worth for the Quality!

Walk over to Siam Paragon for Krispy Kreme! We bought a dozen of Glazed! Ate too much and felt sooooo Gelat! But it was super yummy! I’ve always loved  sugar donuts since young. It was so much cheaper in Thailand compared to Singapore! If I remember correctly it’s 4 Baht for 1 glazed while in Singapore it’s $2.70 for 1 glazed? Crazy huge difference! That’s why we bought a dozen. haha!

For Chinatown Bangkok, there isn’t any train station nearby yet. you have to cab over. From my hotel it was about 90 Baht by meter.

Best time to go Chinatown: 4pm onwards.
Things to buy there: wholesale kids shoes, toys, wholesale blankets, wholesale hair accessorize and fresh fruits and dried goods!

The food there is said to be yummy too! I was so lazy to cab down at the end of the day so didn’t get to try..

I bought 6 brushes for 80 Baht only! There’s a provision shop that sells super cheap kids toys. those kind of mini cars and lego blocks! 1 for 5 Baht and I bought 200Baht worth of toys there. The quality isn’t very good thou, you pay for what you’ll get.

Had lunch at this Wonton Mee stall. I personally prefer this than the famous one at Pratunam. Due to the location, it isn’t known by many tourists.

Foods to try when you’re in Bangkok:

2) Grilled Pork with Glutinous Rice.

Street stalls around Pratunam sells them! Really yummy!

3) Steamed sweet corn!

3 Step Mucota Scena Treatment – Headlines Hair Dressing

headlines hairdressing

Hello! I’m sorry for not blogging in such a long time unless I have to..

Anyway, I haven’t had my hair pampered since late March this year. My mom was free to help me toddler-sit Josaeus so I had a chance to visit Headlines!

Even thou I haven’t had anything done since the Dyna treatment in March, my hair condition isn’t as bad as before. So this time, I’m back to get my hair dyed and trimmed.

Told Linus, my stylist this round to decide on the colour and cut. I’m not too sure what suits me so I’ll leave it to him.

Here’s what my hair looks like Before anything was done(July 2015):

headlines hair dressing

I personally felt it was so much better than this(March 2015):

headlines hair dressing

If you’ve severely damaged hair, I would highly recommend Mucota Dyna Argan Oil Treatment at Headlines Hair Dressing. For 4 months, I did not change my usual hair routine(which is basically no routine to care for my hair) yet my hair still seem to be healthier than before.

Unfortunately, you’ve missed headline’s bring a friend and get to try Dyna Argan Oil Treatment at $198 each promo.

*Fret not, you can still mention my name “Maine” to get 10-30% discount off all services~

I chopped off at least 10cm off my mane and Linus chose Ash Brown for me.
[Ps the spideman sticker on the back of my phone belongs to Josaeus! A very sweet Lady from Jcube’s KFC gave it to him and he stuck it there.]

Linus noticed that my hair was still dry so he pampered my hair with 3 Step Mucota Scena Treatment. This treatment is a lot faster than Dyna But it obviously isn’t as intensive as Dyna. I didn’t have the luxury of time so 3 step Mucota Scena Treatment will do.

Here are the details and steps on the 3 Step Mucota Treatment:

Moisture base for treatment  (Adel)

Adel contains 4 kinds of ceramides, cholesterol and phytosphingosine included in natural ceramide to recreate same structure of hair’s intercellular lipid and improves the repair function.

Maltose-based, millet jelly (starch syrup element) and ceramide 1. 2. 3 6ll improves hair condition for treatment. With its internal permeation typed moisture holding elements, make hair soft and moist before next treatment.

Step 1

After shampooing, apply Adel focusing on med to hair ends and massage into it.

Rinse thoroughly with warm water

Hair repair (Brava)

Brava contains matrix keratin and fibril keratin which make up hair’s cortex as repair components for severe damage and amino acid which is CMC component for mild damage. Also, with mixing silk PPT which has cuticle repairing effect and pearl proteins (hydrolyzed conchiolin) handles various damages.

Contains amphiphilic reactive ceramide- like substance and 18 MEA-like active agent to penetrate ingredients of “Adel” and “Brava” into hair with these affinity. Also, penetrated reactive ceramide acts by binding to net-like structure to prevent repair component from flowing, then set it inside hair.

Step 2

After step 1, apply Brava to the entire damp hair focusing on med area to hair ends.

Comb it through hair

Protection of cuticle (Calore)

These 3 main elements of CMC reinforce CMC layer which consist of hydrophilic layer and lipophilic layer and improve damaged cuticle, control light defuse reflection and create lustrous hair base.

Superlipidure ( phospholipid polymer Nanosphere) makes 7 layered lamellar liquid crystal structure and pseudo-cuticle to protect the hair and regenerate hydrophobic surface to make hair smooth, silky and lusterous.

Step 3

with Brava on the hair, apply Calore to the entire hair focusing on med hair area to hair ends.

After applying, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

I love hair washes as there will definitely be head massages between the washes. Linus did a fantastic job! Thou I do get really ticklish behind the ears when he washes away the shampoo/treatment.

I’m done!

After:

The length doesn’t look too different as they are taken from different height and angle. Linus did a great job on shaping my hair and I love the colour! It’s hard to capture the actual photo due to different lighting. I tried adding filters to the after photo to get the actual colour.

How do you find it?

After-Before

headlines hair dressing

I’ll be back for Dyna for my next appointment! Once again Thank you Jerry, Linus and of course Headlines Hair Dressing for Pampering my Hair!

In the mean time, I’ve taken afew different selfie since then. Different lighting makes my hair colour looks different.
