NEW: adidas Originals Eyewear by Italia Independent

DSC03863

When it come to eyewear & shades, what are the first few brands that to the top of your mind?

The list can run on but it is still hard to plaster the image of adidas as an eyewear brand right? This is exactly the same sentiments we had as well till we own our very first pair of adidas Originals eyewear by Italia Independent!

This is the very first Italia Independent official launch in Asia and I must say their first collection is all ready to make a huge impact in the eyewear scene!

Starting with the Mens’ Sunglasses.

There are 14 sunglasses in total within this Fall/winter 2016 Collection of which I decided to choose something subtle yet charismatic! And so, I chose the “AOM003” Model with black metal frame.

Don’t you just fall in love with the minimalist yet stylist shape of this sunglass? What will make you fall in love even more would be the super-light frames that stand out for their soft surface that is both pleasant to touch and scratch resistant!

For its prescription glasses range, they have 12 frames in total. For this, I decided to go with something more flamboyant I would say? Lol!

The ‘flamboyance’ arise from its two colour tone which in this case is my favourite colour combination: Black & Gold! The two different colours come together so harmoniously  and the most attractive part is definitely the laser-etched Trefoil logo of adidas Originals that appears on the sides of both temples!

The emblem is also present in the ladies’ range!

For Maybeline, she decided to go with something more ‘Harry Porter-ish’! Good choice for her as I feel it fully helped her pull off that intellectual look!

Furthermore, a flat lenses tends to give the frames a contemporary & classic feel while ensuring optimum comfort and non-glare internally.

To push the level of comfort even further, it comes with an adjustable nose pads for a comfortable fitting. So wearing this for days continuously is not an issue at all!

The adidas Originals collection can be found at adidas Originals stores, Italia Independent boutiques, on both brands’ e-commerce platforms as well as selected authorized list of optical stores in Singapore and Asia.

The adidas Originals range will start from S$205 for sunglasses and from S$185 for prescription frames.

Do visit the stores and give the adidas Originals collection a try at least!

I am pretty sure you will fall in love with them like how we did!

If the name ‘Hirocon’ rings a bell, it is indeed the same Contact Lens experts shop located at B2 Orchard Gateway!

Many would know Hirocon for its endless variety of contact lens of different brands and prescriptions. However, this is not the reason I am back here for. This time around, I will be making my first pair of spectacles.

So, what attracted me here? Bet you must be guessing it is the the 2 big word “FREE Spectacle” in the below image right! Well, that was at best the second thing that attracted my attention.

The first & most key feature that struck me about this shop was how neat and brightly-litted this shop is!

Very much reflecting the true blue Japanese culture of being neat & tidy to the tiniest detail, don’t you agree?

Even though the shop isn’t as spacious as the one in Orchard Gateway, it houses ample spectacles & contact lens for you to pick from.

What is more important is they have very welcoming optometrist who greeted me the moment I was nearing the shop! I was already half impressed by their right proactive attitude. In addition, the optometrists might look young but they certainly are knowledgeable. I am known to post tough technical questions not to make any shop attendant embarrassed but more of satiating my interminable curiosity. Despite this, she was able to answer all my technical questions patiently!

Unlike other optical shops where the vision testing is a long drawn process, my optometrist went through a very systemtic process. First, I was asked to fill up a card with personal details before showed into the refraction room for my vision testing.

Within the vision testing room, there was an sink and soap for customers to extract & put on their contact lenses. After extracting my contact lens, she led me through a thorough eye test to check the degree of my myopia.

This process of sorting my prescription took approximately 10-15 minutes with absolutely no discomfort. Furthermore, they are technologically-savvy; they uses a electronic screen to project the letters & numbers of varied sizes to test my eyesight instead of a paper chart.

With my prescription degree sorted out, I proceed on to pick the frame of my choice.

The Hirocon frames are stylish and I find them very fitting for Asian face shape.

Every frame has its own unique advantage but all of them has one advantage in common ; all of them are sturdy & light-weighted.

With the Hirocon spectacles, you can look smart, stylish and be relieved of any form of weights around your nose bridge.

So, what do you think? I aren’t wrong to say it fits Asian face shape stylishly right! 🙂

Best of it all, this set of prescription lenses wears a very affordable tag.

One set like mine cost approximately SGD110 (Premium frame + Lenses). The less premium ones cost around SGD70+ and are of good sturdy quality too (Less Premium frame + Lenses).

If you are the kind who wish to enjoy the whole favorable experience of making a pair of affordable & stylish-looking spectacle, look no where further than Hirocon @ One Raffles Place. (More images can be seen on my IG handle: @James_Awyong)!

Shop: Jamco Optical

IMG_0108

We all have that one optical shop that we’d always go back to. I used to go back to the same one until I started to doll myself up. That’s when I went around looking for cute frames and in-trend sunglasses.

After a sponsorship with JAMCO Optical Co 2 years ago, he is the only optical shop that I have been going back to for both shades and glasses. They are located at Katong Shopping Centre – a lot may feel that the shopping centre is an old place. But old means gold.

You will be very surprised by the variety of brands JAMCO carries from Dior, Rayban, Oliver Peoples, USH and SO MUCH more.

Don’t be surprised when you find bigger brands like Thom Browne there too. Like I said, old is gold. Most of the brands can be found in Orchard Road as well but at 30-40% higher than what JAMCO is retailing at.

Just request for the brand and who knows, the bosses in there might be able to bring out an entire box of them for you to choose from!

James rely a lot on shades, especially when he is driving so looking for the right pair is important. This boy has almost 10 pairs from different brands with some bought from JAMCO as well. I used to spend my yearly optical allowance here too. HAHA.

I seriously don’t mind a pair of DIOR technologic sunglasses as well! This is the most IN style right now. I know one day, when it is out of season, the price will drop… But if I buy mine from JAMCO, I don’t even have to worry about the price dropping because I got it at a more affordable than outside.

I am very keen in Oliver Peoples as I am quite into vintage looking spectacles now so I went down to find look at them after comparing the prices in Orchard. I walked into one of the store and was quoted $790 for the frame but JAMCO quoted me $600+ for the same pair.

Sometimes they have in-house promotions as well so I may even end up getting it at $500+!!

My boy was quite into vintage-looking yet high quality frames after going through all the designs at JAMCO. He ended up falling for USH.

This is something so different from his usual look! We are going to create more looks with our selection in Instagram. I will also consolidate the looks and post them in another post soon. So do follow us on our Instagram handle at @maybelinesim and @james_awyong!

Rocco is back!

Have you heard about it yet?

Rocco had been away for years…… but now….

.

.

ROCCO IS BACK!

Who is Rocco? Read on.

.

.

.

Rocco, is your next IN thing for eyewear.

You know me. I am a sucker for eyewear.

I owe about 6 pairs of prescription glasses of my current eye power.

I like the mix and match them to my outfit.

However, majority of my prescription glasses are in black or white. I have a current pair in Orange now though. Used to wear pink but that was only when I was still in my teens LOL.

However, I am quite bold when it comes to sunglasses. I dare to wear all sort of colours and designs so I have seriously more than a hundred pairs? Of course, most of them are cheap fashion shades.

Rocco however, brought fashion to another level.

Fashion + Quality = Rocco

My pick from Rocco is this vintage looking pair.

Well, I love all things geeky or vintage.

I would go for style than the classic look when it comes to eyewear.

I can’t wait to create different looks and styles with this pair of glasses!

Rocco will be available on Eye Trendy soon! And they are already available at some stores. A campaign is coming up soon… Follow me and Eye Trendy Facebook page as well.

Bally Eyewear at Eye Trendy

So you have already heard of Bally Eyewear. Nvm if you haven’t cause you can still update yourself about this luxury Switzerland brand here.

http://blog.myfatpocket.com/maybelinesim/2013/06/23/bally-eyewear-is-now-in-singapore/

And as mentioned in the entry above, I have this thing for men’s design. Being the blogger ambassador for Eye Trendy, I was given a few pairs of Eyewear and my first pick was none other than the classic aviator design which features a bridge nose piece and temples lined in leather.

Model Number: BY4002A

Colour: Chocolate.

It is also available in Black Polarized and Cacao as well.

B Block metal (design) can be found on both end pieces as well as on the left temple tip as a signature detail.

I like the pilot shaped lenses because it is big enough to hide my face when I am not in makeup :X

But the actual reason for me picking this design is the unique leather covering because you don’t really see it in other eyewear. Yes, there are a lot of aviators in the market, but what the leather made the whole design stands out more.

Eyewear makes one look cooler instantly but why pick Bally?

It is a luxury collection using only premium material like titanium, carbon, leather and etc and is a modern collection with contemporary style. The eyewear are Made in France and they have a whole collection of Asian Fit!

Look at how classy it still look even when I was dressed in casual.

This pair of eyewear includes a Crest Case, Crest Pouch, Crest Box and a Bally leaflet 🙂

Thank you Bally, Sin Kwang Optical and Eye Trendy!

Feel free to browse the other available designs and brands at Eye Trendy page.

See you there!!

Bally eyewear is now in Singapore!

What is the first thing that came to your mind when you see Bally?

Bags? ME TOO!

And what can I say? I was truly truly honored to receive the exclusive invitation.

Well, the new Bally Eyewear Collection is now finally available in Singapore and Malaysia!

No longer only available overseas.

On 12 June, 2013, Sin Kwang Optical (S) Pte Ltd is proud to announce its exclusive distributorship of the Bally luxury eyewear collection 🙂

The first collection was made available in selected Bally stores from December 2012 and in dedicated optical retailers in 2013.

“We are very pleased to bring Bally eyewear to Singapore and Malaysa through Sin Kwang Optical, a partner with an impressive track record of outstanding retailer network, local market expertise, and stellar brand stewardship.” says Arnaud Debord, Asia Manager, Eyewear Division, TWC L’AMY.

Bally’s First Eyewear Collection focus on iconic elements like:

1: Red and white Trainspotting stripe (which is found in the sports collection)
2: Mountain Goat motif (found in female collection)
3: Bally Crest (my personal favourite)
4: Block-B (found in male collection)

Female Collection

Do you notice the Red and White Trainspotting stripe? Yes, that is the Sports and Casual collection.

Colours like red or toffee can match perfectly with Bally’s ready to wear and accessory collections. Recommended retail price: $438 and available in 4 colours.

Some of the Fashion designs at $438 (recommended retail price).

The sophiscated feminine style of women’s collection is best highlighted by a key oval, acetate frame whose temples are intertwined leather and metal rings that mirror the elegance of the chain on a Bally handbag. Recommended retail price: $530

The lenses are available in grey or brown.

Elegance indeed. I had to put it on to try.

Leather frames shades are also something new with design elements such as the Mountain Goat to the end tips for a polished finish for the female wear. Recommended retail price: $658

Take a look at the colour itself, it is unique just as the brand is.

Sometimes, it is not just about the design of the eyewear that make it look elegance but the protective cover as well. For this, Bally Crest has certainly outshine itself.

I was mesmerized by this cover.

Male Collection

The same for the male, you can see the Trainspotting stripe in the sports and casual collection as well. Recommended retail price: $390

The highlight of men collection which is also my favourite in the ENTIRE male/female collection was this classic aviator design featuring a bridge nose piece and temples lined in leather.

From the picture below, you would be able to see that the aviator tip has the signature Block-B which will be elaborated later below at another design. Recommended retail price: $560 (Gun Leather Black) while other colours are at $498

The lenses are available in brown or polarised green.

I have always had a thing for men’s design. I don’t know why.

The Bally’s Block-B is crafted from metal and mounted inside the temples placed at the end tip.

Men’s Top Collection has a variety of shapes ensures a juxtaposition of modern and vintage special. Men’s models range from contemporary thin, rectangular frames to more vintage shapes such as the aviator or the classic tortoiseshell.

I believe Vintage is the new trend. And their wise choice for these designs.

Ting ting! I transformed into a kid/ someone from the olden days right away!

Nothing beats feasting at the top of a hill.

Not just food feasting, but eye feasting on the gorgeous eyewear as well.

There is also an on going lucky draw with every pair of eyewear purchase!

For every eyewear purchase, you will have 1 chance to bid for your favourite Bally products.

My new Glossi eyewear

Not sure if you guys have already heard of Glossi.
If you haven’t it’s okay, REMEMBER IT NOW 😀

Well, I heard from Glossi sometime back and I knew that it is something that I would like.

Evidence here 😛
I went to take part in the giveaway but obviously I didn’t win 🙁

It’s okay. I thought. What is yours, will be yours.

And true enough, Glossi is mine 🙂

I am a finalist of Singapore Blog Awards 2013 of Best Modeling Blog by OMY x Nanyang Optical.

So the lucky me went to one of the Nanyang Optical Outlets to pick my beatuiful pair of shades and prescription pair.

Yes, all the designs stand by it’s name. It is indeed glossY.

Being said that, I really love the last pair at the extreme right. Yes, the matt pair.

One look and I knew it was for me. Even the videographer that day told me that I should pick that.

How are they different from the normal spectacles?

So here I am, to clear your doubts.

1. They are extremely light weight, it just felt like they weight nothing at all.

2. They are extremely glossy, you can see your own reflection on the frames.
Hence, a glossi can never be dull while most spectacles outside make you look like a nerd.

3. There are no screws to put them together. Even the sides are tied together by nylon strings (which are almost unbreakable). So there is absolutely no need for any adjustments if you have a big head like me. Heh. Even if it really does (which the staff confidently told me it wouldn’t and I believed him), Nanyang Optical will get it fix for you at no cost.

4. To add on to the Nylon, it will not cause any mark or pain on the side of your head.

Some of the prescription frames. Aren’t they as special too?

I really really had a tough time picking a pair for myself because each pair serves a different look in my opinion.

This was one of my option where I wanna look geeky but fashionable at the same time.

Notice that the whole frame is transparent? That is why I love it!

It makes the orange top even outstanding with a combination of two colours.

And this pair fits the theme for 60s for Singapore Blog Awards. Heh.

We should totally rock Agogo with this and an afro to fit in the theme yo!

These 2 were my ultimate and final choices.

I’ll explain them to you why in the next entry. So stay tuned!

Meanwhile, do remember to hop over to vote for your favourite blogger!

Your votes plays an important role of 30% 🙂
