Ultherapy Skin Firming Experience at Halley Medical Aesthetics Singapore
4 weeks ago, I went to Halley Medical Aesthetics for Ultherapy. Ultherapy is a high technology effective aesthetics treatment that has gained more and more popularity as one of the best non-invasive one-time treatment procedure for skin firming.
Ultherapy is the first treatment that uses a medical ultrasound technology to stimulate the collagen response that is US FDA approved for both tightening and lifting. (Read more in my previous post: http://blog.myfatpocket.com/jessieting/ultherapy-skin-firming-at-halley-medical-aesthetics-singapore/)
The below photo is taken with Dr Terence Tan right after the treatment with no foundation on my face. Totally NO REDNESS!
Ultherapy works deep below the surface – without harming the outer layer of skin-for dramatic and long-lasting benefits of facial firming, skin tightening and lifting. Best thing I love about it, is that there is absolutely no down time with this treatment and the effect lasts for a long time with just one session (1 – 2 years).
During the consultation session before we start the treatment, Dr Terence clearly and patiently explained to me how this treatment works to help me achieve a firmer skin, a more defined jaw line and slimmer face. 🙂 (YEAH! SLIMMER FACE) He also explained what would be expected during the treatment, before and after care…etc.
I was told that after the treatment, my face will feel achy and a bit tender for the next couple of days.
Then I went to the treatment room with one of his assistant to remove my makeup before putting the numbing cream on my face for about 20 minutes while I comfortably lie on the treatment bed awaiting for the Ultherapy treatment to start.
Dr Terence placed the applicator on my skin to project an image onto a screen to show me how deep it can deliver the focused ultrasound and with this, it is easy to ensure that the ultrasound is delivered at just the right depth below the skin to stimulate the body’s natural renewal of existing collagen and creation of new collagen.
Dr Terence is pointing to the image showing me where precisely below the skin he is treating with great precision that helps to ensure both safety and satisfying results. If it goes too deep it is going to hit the bone and will not have any results.
It’s so cool, I can see how ”thick” my skin actually is on the screen. Haha!
I had my jaw line, cheeks, forehead, nasolabial folds and lower eyes area treated. (almost the entire face I think!)
Photo below shows the 1.5mm, 3mm and 4.5mm applicator that was used for different areas of my face because of the depth of the skin above the bone is different on the different parts of the face. For example, for the sides of the face where it is more meaty – the 4.5mm is used to deliver the ultrasound deeper. For the forehead where it is very bony, the 1.5mm was being used so the ultrasound does not go too deep as there will be no results or be effective if the ultrasound is delivered too deep into the bone. The ultrasound has to be focused just above the bone down into the 3rd layer of the skin.
This way the collagen building of the skin is stimulated and it will help to create new and stronger collagen to replace the tired collagen. This regenerative collagen building process will continue for the next two to three months to produce very visible results.
Dr Terrence was talking to me and telling me stories the entire time during the treatment and therefore I didn’t even realize that 45 minutes had just gone by with the treatment. Dr Terence also kept asking me if I felt uncomfortable or have any pain during the treatment I should tell him so he could adjust the power lower if I felt uncomfortable. But I didn’t felt uncomfortable enough to complain to Dr Terence so he just zap away with the ultrasound shots.
For me, overall I would rate the pain level 3/10. Basically on some parts of the face where it is more boney, I could feel more of the ultrasound heat but some parts of the face I would feel nothing at all. Dr Terence told me that he used the highest possible power for the shots. Maybe my skin is really too thick. Haha…
The assistant held a fan over my face the entire time during the treatment. The cool wind blowing on my face did help to make the treatment more bearable too.
My face was still pretty numb after the treatment and the numbing effect took a couple of hours to subside. Then I could feel the aching tender sensation kicking in on my face around evening time. I had the treatment done around 3pm in the afternoon. I would probably describe the feeling of the sensation to… kind of like a muscle ache after a workout.
The achy sensation subsided over the week after the treatment.
The whole treatment process took about 45 mins to 1 hour with my cheeks, jawline and upper face treated. But if you only do one segment of the face then it will be shorter. You can choose to have Ultherapy done on selected areas of the face as the therapy is suitable for spot treatment of troubled areas and it is affordable too
I was so surprised that there was totally no redness on my face at all right after the treatment. I didn’t even need to re-apply any foundation or makeup except for my lipstick before I leave. Their makeup room is so nice too… hehee… like a princess room.
Gosh my face look so round in the photo below taken just before the Ultherapy Treatment. Hated the loose skin at the side of my face and the chubby cheeks.
Below are some BEFORE and AFTER photos taken 1 month after the treatment.
You can see on the right hand side photo below that 1 month later, my jawline looked more defined and nasolabial folds (laugh line) looked less obvious. Even the sides of cheeks look tighter. I am really happy with the results so far. Dr Terence told me the best results will be after 2 or 3 months as more new collagen builds up. So I should look even better in a month or 2 time. 🙂 🙂 🙂
