I arrived 9.30am at Acme Sculpture Aesthetic Clinic to prepare for the nose surgery. They had blown up photos of the close up of my nose on the big screen from different angles in the operating theatre. Dr Ching had a feel on my nose for the last time and placed some markings on my nose.
Then the nurses prepare me down to make sure I was comfortable on the operating bed before they put me on general anaesthetic, a state of controlled unconsciousness. During a general anaesthetic, medications are used to send you to sleep, so you’re unaware of surgery and don’t move or feel pain while it’s carried out.
I remember the nurse was giving me a drip on my left arm and taking blood pressure on my right arm. My nose was itching and I wanted to touch my rounded nose for the last time once they take off the blood pressure measure patch from my arm. But I don’t even remember drifting asleep. Did not even get to scratch my nose.
When I woke up it was about 3pm and I was in the recovery room. The room was very nicely decorated and spacious. I felt a little light headed but could walk myself to use the bathroom.
Very nice bathroom
The nurse came in to explain to me the medications that I should be taking and brought me some porridge as I was starving. I wasn’t suppose to have any water or food 8 hours before the surgery so that would make a very hungry person after surgery.
Shortly after, Dr Ching came in and checked on me(checked my nose from all angles too). He told me that the surgery went very well although my nasal septum cartilage and ear cartilage bones were quite small. So he had try out 7 or 8 different combinations to find the most suitable nose shape for me. I really appreciate him taking his time to work on my nose.
At Acme Sculpture Aesthetic Clinic, they would only arrange to have 1 or 2 surgeries in a day. They will not line up too many surgeries for the doctor so the doctor need not rush to finish.
Dr Ching asked if I would like to see photos of the fillers that he managed to extract from my nose. I wouldn’t mind seeing it and he told me that he tried to remove as much as he could but not all could be removed as some of the semi-permanent fillers has already merged with my tissues.
He admitted that my case wasn’t an easy job. I was so thankful and grateful to Dr Ching for his great work. I was so happy that finally the surgery was done and without any pain at all. Look at me chuckling away in the photo below.
HURRAY to my NEW NOSE!!! So happy 🙂
I couldn’t feel anything had been done to me except for the bandage on my ear after the surgery.
They told me I could take all the time I need to rest in the recovery room until I feel that I am all ready to go. After about 2 hours of resting, I feel perfectly fine and I even took the MRT back to Ximending from the clinic although they suggested that I take a taxi back to the hotel instead.
I am suppose to ice pack my face and forehead every hour for 15 minutes which will help with the swelling for the next few days.
I was really amazed that even when the anaesthetic wears off throughout the recovery period there wasn’t any pain at all. The only discomfort I felt was at the back of my ear which is a bit tender with some achy feeling now and again for the first 2-3 days. Which gave me the perfect excuse to go to the hair salon to wash my hair everyday. 🙂
The only thing that annoys me was my nostrils being stuffed with cotton for the first day so I could only breathe through my mouth. The lip and throat got really dry. Thank god only for one day and I had lip balm! I was asked to sleep with my head elevated to breathe better since there is going to be congested nose for a week after surgery. They say runny and congested nose is expected but just don’t blow the nose hard.
I went back to the clinic the second day afternoon to get the cotton in my nostrils removed. I immediately felt so good to able to breathe again.
I was back on the second and third day for antibiotic drip to have a stronger dose on top of the antibiotics which I am taking verbally. It was usually Day 2 and Day 3 that the face would swell up the most when I saw other’s bloggers post surgery recovery photos that they would retrain from going out as some of their eyes couldn’t even open up much from the swelling.
But though I was warned by Dr Ching that I might swell more than others because of the extraction of semi-permanent fillers on top of my nose surgery, I was really surprised that I did not swell that much or get much blue black or purple at all. I was kind of expecting myself looking like a 猪头🐷 pig’s head on Day 2 and Day 3.
With little swelling shows that Dr Ching’s skills were really good and that my pre and post surgery care might be helpful too.
Swelling and bruising after surgery depends on….
- Doctor’s experience and skill
- Patient’s own body condition
- Pre and post surgery care

Below photo is me on Day 2 and Day 3. I did not even find the need to have to wear a mask out because other than my face looking a bit more puffy than normal, I didn’t think the plaster on my nose is that obvious as well. I was already out and about with my daily routine on Day 2 and Day 3 meeting my taiwanese friends to go around trying out delicious Taiwan delicacies. Things that you must definitely do when you go to Taiwan is eat non-stop.
After delicious food with my mum’s friends on Day 3 above, I went back to clinic again for the antibiotic drip and to see Doctor Ching. The nurse was really nice to help me clear up my congested nose as I don’t dare to dig too deep myself. Taiwanese people are well known for being very warm and friendly. You will not expect any less of the customer service standard at Acme Sculpture Aesthetic Clinic.
At that Day 3, I really can’t wait for Day 8 to arrive when I can remove the plaster and stitches to have a better look at my new nose.
But Day 8 did arrived rather quickly with fun filled stuffs and great people to occupy me everyday… time flies when you are having so much fun. Taiwan is just so fun! I would love to go there every year for holiday.
Below photo shows the nurse removing the stitches below my nose and behind my ears.
It was a little uncomfortable for the stitches behind the ear to be removed as they are not individually sewed like the bottom of the nose but the nurse was rather quick. So not that unbearable.
Even at Day 8, you can see from the above photos that the scar below the nose and behind the ear looked much much much more tiny than I had expected. I can imagine them being non-existence after a while with the application of scar creams.
Dr Ching inspecting my nose for the last time before I can go back to Singapore. If no complications, most patients are free to fly home after 7 days when the stitches are removed.
I am super satisfied with the nose job. Doctor Ching told me that my nose would slim down further because the swelling would take 2-3 months to all go away completely for me to see the final shape of my nose. Because of the injections he gave me at the sides of my upper nose bridge to dissolve the fillers, that area would take longer for the swelling to go away too.

You can see practically after Day 4, a lot of the swelling on the face had subsided.
Although my nose is still at swelling stage, I already felt that a higher nose does make a lot of difference when I am taking photographs. The nose surgery will pull some skin at the eye area which somehow made my eyes looked rounder too which is like a double blessing. I had people asking me if I also cut the corners of my eyes to open it up. No I didn’t as I only did my nose.
Meanwhile, I will wait for the swelling of my nose to go away completely. I will be posting another article about my nose in 3 months time. Thanks for reading! 🙂
