In case you had missed my Instagram story, here’s a quick review on LuLuLun’s Hydrating Toner Mask (pink packaging).
I love how kawaii and pinky this packaging is; it’s definitely great for travel/staycation ( so that you don’t have to lug around a full size heavy toner bottle). My boyfriend who is new to face masks say application is easy, and refreshes his face (although he described the cooling sensation as a ‘spicy’ sensation on his face *face palm*). I do like that it fits nicely to my face, I didn’t have to tear the mouth or eyes openings to fit into my big face. My favorite part is that there is NO dripping liquid and I can easily proceed with other tasks on hand while masking.
The mask dries in around 10 mins; and works like a toner mask. Googling this item, it says that “experiments show higher penetration of toner into skin using a face mask compared to hands. Penetration into skin differs by 65%”. For a good and thorough application of your daily toner, you can consider trying this too. I don’t take more than 2 minutes to apply toner usually, so I would recommend just applying this mask for 5-10 minutes. What do you think?
Oh, there’s no sticky feeling after the mask too! Each packet contains 7 pieces so it’s perfect for short trips out.
Hope this short review was good enough! Here’s to discovering and sharing more beauty products with you all this year <3
Wishing everyone a happy and bountiful new year! If you had always had questions on laser treatments, watch my latest interview with Dr Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics. Stay beautiful in & out everyone! ❤️
I had taken a break from blogging as I was busy for the competition of Miss Singapore International (MSI) 2016 which happened just awhile ago. Prior to the competition, I was so busy juggling work and the trainings; I had so many breakouts multiple times a week (the thick makeup I have to wear made my skin so much worse too :(). On a usual basis, I battle with small pimples on my forehead, but this year, (to my horror!), I’ve started having a few big pimples on my cheek and chin area together with some stubborn red marks from old breakouts.
For awhile, I relied on over-the-counter products but quickly I realized they don’t treat the root problem of acne, and they take very long to decrease inflammation. Dryness of the skin usually comes with it too.
That is when I decided I needed to sought professional help and here I am back with trusty Dr Terence Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics.
Why I like visiting Halley Medical Aesthetics:
For customized solutions that address my specific skin concern. This visit, Dr Tan professionally designed a “off the menu” laser treatment specially for me.
There are no downtime solutions for me! I can get treated and go up and about for my daily schedule right after the treatment.
After a comprehensive consultation, Dr Terence Tan customised a no downtime laser treatment combining two different lasers to address my acne concerns and improve my skin texture. The first was a long pulsed laser treatment to treat acne by clearing and rejuvenating pores. The second was a Q-switched laser to minimise pigmentation. The treatments came in timely as I was just one week to the finals of MSI competition and I want nothing but perfect skin for the big day.
For any treatments to be effective, the first step has got to be thorough cleansing. Halley Medical Aesthetic has an experienced and professional team that always make me feel at ease when they work their magic. I was comfortably lying down on their reclining treatment chair, while Dr Tan’s assistant helped with the removal of my existing makeup. The facial cleanser they use removes impurities on the surface skin and helps prepare my skin for the treatment thereafter.
The red spots on my face are actually acne marks that have been there for a long time. As a perfectionist and someone who is in the beauty industry, I am emotionally disturbed every night by the presence of such unsightly scars. I am sure many of you will know what I mean because these tiny scars take what seems like FOREVER to lighten or even disappear.
The first part of the laser treatment is the long pulsed laser prescribed for me by Dr Tan because it can accurately focus on small spots with very high energy. The aim is to target the specific problematic spot without harming the surrounding tissue. The whole process was almost painless (discomfort level is 1 out of 10 with 10 as most uncomfortable), and the whole procedure was so relaxing, I hardly felt any discomfort or pain. Along with the laser therapy, Dr Tan used another hand piece that provided a constant stream of cooling air to cool and provide comfort on my face. So imagine an intense cool stream of air like air con being blown on your face during the entire therapy, the feeling was so SHIOK (sorry for the lack of a better word!)!
Dr Tan’s professionalism always wow me every visit as the process is usually very quick, fuss-free and delivers results. He chats with me during the process to make me feel very relax.
The second treatment is the Q-switched laser, it is made of extremely short pulse duration and it targets very small pigment cells and particles. Comparing the two lasers, this second one has an tapping effect that could be felt. You could feel short pulses of energy being directed on to your face. Discomfort is only a low 3 out of 10, where 10 is the most uncomfortable. The process was quick; it took only around 5-10 minutes to cover the whole surface area of the face. The two laser treatments combined makes it perfect for a lunch time rejuvenation or an express acne recovery treatment when you need it.
What I love about this treatment? There is no redness, bruising, blistering and pain AT ALL. Throughout the process, I could almost fall asleep. Also, I am so impressed that Dr Tan is so meticulous! He wouldn’t miss any spots; I have some acne scars below the area where the goggle was covering and Dr Tan would lift the goggle up to make sure he covered every single spot.
For the two laser treatments, there are no needles or anaesthesia involved. It took only 20-30 minutes for the whole face. Anyone of any age who suffers from acne, acne scars or enlarged pores are recommended for this procedure. The laser treatment stimulates deep collagen production to improve the scars from within. As mentioned by Dr Tan, laser treatments improve the skin, but it will take a few sessions, hence, expectations need to be managed when undertaking this treatment to clear or remove your acne concerns.
In summary, this procedure is safe, has no side effects and no downtime. After only one treatment, I could visibly feel that my skin is brighter and smoother. The cost for each individual treatment is at $370 each. For optimal results, minimise exposure to the sun right after treatment and repeated visits are recommended!
Here’s a photo of me taken right after the treatment, and you can see that my face is practically glowing even without makeup. I was ready to go for my next appointments for the day too!
On a side note, here’s presenting to you the First Runner-Up and subsidiary award title Miss Elegance from Miss Singapore International 2016. A big thank you to Halley Medical Aesthetic for taking care of my skin needs for me to look perfectly flawless before the audition (when I did my fillers) and attentively taking care of my acne scar marks just 16 days before my finals.
I always feel the best doctors are those who care about your concerns and find the most suitable solution for you. Thank you Dr Tan for making me feel at home whenever I am at Halley Medical Aesthetics! For my readers, if you had been plagued with any skin issues, be empowered to improve things and learn ways to achieve the perfect skin you have always desire too!
A stone throw away from Kallang MRT (5 – 10 minutes walk), Dermis Cosmeceutical is convenient for those who stay in the east side. A small and cozy place, I am greeted by Loreen when I went down to the outlet who nicely introduced the service and the equipment about my treatment to me.
Frankly I was a bit shocked when my therapist, Jane, said she noticed that there were horizontal lines on my neck and suggested I try the DEEP RF neck lift treatment. At my age, it should be pretty unusual that I have such lines and the appointment became a timely reminder to start taking care of my skincare needs of my neck too! P.S. You could see the visible lines on my neck in the photo below.
REVIEW OF THE TREATMENT
A skin rejuvenation and skin tightening treatment, the whole session was using a hand piece to go around your body part of your choice (i.e. from neck, arms, tummy, thigh), it’s a warm sensation that you feel throughout the treatment. There were points where I felt that the warm sensation gets a bit unbearable (the treatment is most effective at around 39 degrees and it gets quite hot for me when it is close to that temperature) but Jane was always checking on me to make sure everything is okay, and she will adjust it accordingly to your comfort level. For the neck treatment, you can also expect that there is some pressure from the handheld equipment presses against your throat. Pain level I would rate it a low 3 out of 10, where 10 is the most painful.
Jane first did left side of my neck for me, and it was pretty amazing that I could see the tightening and uplifting effects almost immediately. This treatment helped contour the unfavorable fatty areas seen around my neck area, and I could see that the neck muscles on the left side starts tightening and eliminating my existing neck bands. I left the salon with a youthful and tighter neck contour that amazes myself too.
With FDA clearance, this Endymed Plus equipment and treatment is totally safe and induces minimal pain. For the instant results, I would have loved to try for the other areas like thighs, tummy and arms next time too.
For friends who have neckbands and necklines, no words from me would be as effective as meeting Jane in person. For her age, she has no necklines at all!! Making her the greatest testimony on how effective the treatment can be when done consistently. P.S. the photo above was taken days after the treatment and lines could hardly be seen.

Einstein said, “Once you stop learning, you start dying”.
So every now and then, I would push myself out of comfort zone to experience new things or learn new skills.
I am back to attend Cosmoprof’s Make Up and Hairstyling course for the month of December (stopped for awhile because of my leg fracture previously) so I have not been active in doing anything else 🙁 Everyday it’s just class, work and sleep.
Just done with my mood board and make up conceptualisation for the upcoming exams today! Will be re-creating the looks I have selected in the next few days… I have gotten many enquiries and questions about the make up class, so I will share more about the course when my exam ends. Meanwhile, please wish me good luck Xx
On a side note, I do miss my dear classmates from the previous batch whom have graduated :'( They were my pillars of strength and encouragement on a daily basis as I struggle through this class A LOT.

Beauty to me is being comfortable with your own skin and being able to be yourself without any pretence.
And my secret to my confidence stems from my good skin!
Here’s sharing my beauty tips:
1. Having ample sleep to allow our skin cells to rest & regenerate (I sleep at least 8 hours everyday without fail)
2. Cleaning my face with a mild Babor facial cleansing foam and using the most suitable facial skincare products that my skin needs for that day (remember that on days that you are well rested, your skin will be different than if you have a lack of sleep.)
3. Using cream mask instead of paper mask because of its effectiveness for absorption (remember that consistency is the key! so repeat whatever that is effective for your face. I use a cream mask AND a paper mask on nights that I have time to get maximum results. I try to do the double masks daily, but if I really don’t have time, I will apply one mask at least.)
4. Regular facial at Le Queenz (it’s a monthly affair for me. Skin renews every 21 days, so a 3 weeks interval is enough for you to visit your beautician for professional care.)
