A very short blog post revealing my go-to places for good desserts (plus these are all stunning cafes worthy of your instagram feed) that you won’t regret going.
ONE.Paddy Hills – for the BEST Pancake in Singapore
I don’t know if I would regret publicizing this place because this is my ULTRA FAVORITE café. Everything I tried (mains, desserts and even drinks) at Paddy Hills are all SO GOOD and photogenic-looking so far. The Berry Ricotta pancake is crispy on the outside and buttery soft in the inside; it melts in your mouth and has a generous serving of berries! Freshly made upon ordering, there are only limited pieces per day. Curious Palette has a similar version but Paddy Hill’s version wins hand down. To date, I think this is really my NUMBER ONE favourite dessert in Singapore (not joking).

TWO.The Plain Jane & Rich & Good Cake Shop – for Swiss Roll
Located within Serangoon heartlands lie a small cosy café which specializes in a handful of different flavours of Swiss Rolls (Earl Grey, Matcha, Strawberry Yogurt, Thai Milk Tea, etc). And on an usual basis, you will get to meet Jane, the lady boss, whom is a passionate entrepreneur who shares about her bakes with a lot of enthusiasm. On my second visit, she nicely offered 2 new flavours for our table to try (all thanks to K whom is a regular at The Plain Jane!). All the flavours were good, but I only have eyes on the original flavour of their Swiss Roll. Each swiss roll is pillow soft and the inner filling is smooth and creamy (not jiat-lat at all)! A pity that The Plain Jane doesn’t have Durian flavoured Swiss Roll; so if you are a fan of Durian (like me!), you can also try Rich & Good Cake Shop for your durian fix.
Visit The Plain Jane at Block 211 Serangoon Ave 4 #01-10 Singapore 550211 and Rich & Good Cake Shop at 24 Kandahar Street Singapore 198887.
Many cafes dot along Joo Chiat Road, as I was there walking towards Awfully Chocolate wanting to get my favourite HEI ice cream, my friends and I stumbled upon Sinpopo Brand Café and was drawn in. There were many seats available on a weekend night, and we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Frisee Salad with Crispy Muah Chee, Orange Kaya Pisang Crème Brulee (too sweet to my liking L), Pandan Tart, Katong Jelly drink and Sng Muay Pop. Everything we tried was ordinary but the PANDAN TART was da bomb! (Not sure if my review is bias because I love everything pandan flavoured) The pandan tart has a light pandan frangrant and it has a velvety smooth and soft texture which balances out nicely with the tart pastry.
Slightly over-priced, but I am planning a second trip to try their Pandan soufflé and Durian Pengat which were both sold out that night. If any of you have tried, please write me your reviews too heh.
Visit them at 458 Joo Chiat Road Singapore 427671
I am looking forward to more sweet adventures this year, talk to me and write to me at email@example.com about your favourite dessert haunts as well!
All thanks to Singapore Women Association, I had the privilege to be invited to participate in Women Sports Festival 2017! Organized by Macau Sports Council and the Women General Association of Macau, I had the opportunity to gather with many wonderful women all around South East Asia region for a healthy cause.
The Singapore team had great fun performing at Senado Square and attending the Macau Sports Festival Health Seminar which focused on an interesting discussion on the topic of Aerobic Exercises.
And of course I took time to visit several good places which I would love to recommend! Here’s 5 recommended things to do in Macau.
NUMBER ONE. Portuguese Egg Tart
I am the biggest egg tart fan so Portuguese egg tarts are a must have for me! A sinful treat, you’ll not be disappointed with Lord Stow Bakery’s version of the edible icon for Macau. The most convenient for you to get your egg tart fix is at The Venetian Hotel, where you get to make your rounds for your shopping too. Their Ice Milk Tea is also one of the best that I had in Macau; you will regret not trying it! Lord Stow has a couple of outlets in the city, click here for the list of their outlets. P.S. I thought the egg tart at Koi Kei Bakery was very ordinary though.
NUMBER TWO. Casino Hop
I visit Macau regularly but I haven’t gotten bored of it because the new hotels spring out so fast! This year I visited The Parisian and Wynn Palace both of which are really beautiful especially the latter.

For an exceptional dinner experience, I had dinner at Wing Lei Palace at Wynn Palace. Serving Cantonese fine-dining, I enjoyed their roast meat selection the best! Every details count at this restaurant, I loved that their flower pieces on each table are all fresh blooms and every item in the restaurant are coordinated to match their theme colors. You also get to see the Performance Lake water show every 20 minutes, dining there is definitely a feast for all your senses. Not forgetting that service was exceptional as well (FYI, I am not paid to say this haha). Super romantic if you want to impress your date! 😉
The Venetian and The Galaxy have elaborate decorations, if you haven’t been to Macau; they are worth a visit too!
NUMBER THREE. Drinks & Party
I visited SKY 21 for a rooftop bar experience and Club Cubic @ Hard Rock Hotel this trip.
SKY 21 bar is a cosy place which suits couples and love birds. With a lot of sofa seats, it is not too noisy and really comfortable to chill at. There weren’t anything spectacular as you can’t see most of the view unless you step out to the alfresco area where most patrons use it as the smoking area. Service was slightly below expectations but the cocktails like Victoria Secret and Angel were quite pleasant.
To party your night away, I recommend Club Cubic; Macau’s biggest club in both hype and space. The party starts after 12am; enjoy Ladies Night on Friday nights and DJ acts on most Saturdays. Entry fee was 250 Macau dollars inclusive of a drink. My greatest catch that night was seeing TVB actor Lawrence Ng!!
NUMBER FOUR. Seafood!
Don’t miss feasting on seafood treats when in Macau. My must-haves are steamboat, huge oysters, Angus Beef and Canadian Geoduck!
NUMBER FIVE – The House of Dancing Water
The House of Dancing Water is the world’s largest water-based show that is so breathtaking and spectacular! The story depicts a love story of a survivor of a shipwreck falling in love with a beautiful princess; but like any fairy tale story, the happily ever after ending never comes easily. The duo was cruelly separated and their love were tested by the Princess’s evil stepmother, the Dark Queen. Filled with heart-stopping stunts, I think this is really one of the best performances I’ve watched in recent years!
Last tip to share, purchase SIM card with data plan from the vending machine in the airport instead of from touting individuals in those car rental booths. For some petty cost savings, the SIM card that I got from the airport counters doesn’t work well. It taps on 3G network, can be used to send messages but connection to Instagram and Facebook is pathetically limited 🙁 My other girl friends whom had bought the cards from the vending machine has high speed 4G instead!
If you are in Macau to try your luck, here’s wishing you the best too!
(SP) Real beauty comes from within. Besides having good thoughts and kindness that will shine out of you, I think true beauty is reflected through healthy and glowing skin. If you are keen to enhance your external appearance and get better skin, QYRA intense care collagen drink has been proven to be more effective than normal topical cosmetics.
Here’s sharing 6 Big Reasons why you should try QYRA:
(1) Clinically Tested
Made in Germany and safe for consumption; QYRA Collagen Drink has been clinically tested on more than 100 women, and they have shown visible effects and improvements for their skin after a short period of taking the drink. The clinical test result revealed that the consumption helps delay skin aging process, and participant’s skin also became visibly firmer and smoother.
(2) Reduces cellulites in 4-6 months
As we age, our body’s collagen production naturally begins to slow down; and the magical ingredient in QYRA is called Verisol (a scientifically proven Bioactive Collagen Peptide) that can enter the deep dermal layers of the skin to help improve our skin from within. Collagen gives our skin strength and elasticity, and the good news is you can intake good collagen orally to help your skin cell repair and renew normally. However, please also remember to cut down on unhealthy lifestyle habits like eating a diet high in sugar, smoking or even being under the sun for prolonged period of time which depletes your natural collagen level!
(3) Reduces wrinkles in 1-2 months
A very small bottle (2.5g), the QYRA collagen drink if taken over a period of one month, can produce measurable effect on supporting skin metabolism, reducing wrinkles and improving skin elasticity.
(4) Intense moisture
A significant percentage of the human body is water, and when your skin is sufficiently moisturized, it feels soft and young-looking. Restoring and retaining moisture are my top priorities in my skincare routine, and I couldn’t be happier finding a way to top up the moisture level for my skin in such an effective manner! 🙂
Small and portable, the packaging of QYRA Collagen Drink is so easy to be brought around in my daily routine! I usually carry at least 2 small bottles with me (so that I don’t miss drinking it when I am on the go) whenever I am out and I don’t even feel the extra weight in my bag.
(6) Simplify your skincare routine
In general, QYRA Collagen Drink is such a wonderful skin enhancer product. Easy to drink, it has a light tangy flavour which is very appealing in taste. Most people think that it is difficult (or even impossible) to enhance attractiveness without going under the knife, but you can actually get younger skin by taking in the right supplements. For people who hate taking tablets or pills (ME!), rejoice as QYRA is so pleasing in terms of taste and it cares for your skin in a way that application of topical creams can’t.
In case you are wondering, there are a total of 21 small bottles for drinking in each package of QYRA Collagen Drink. At a promotional price of $76.50 (original price $85), you can get yours to try from www.360activ.com. Eager to try? You can drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get your complimentary sample today!
It is less than 1 week to Valentine’s Day and if you are still not prepared, you are in deep trouble haha. Read the post here for my quick guide on finding the perfect gift for HER.
This Valentine, whether you are spending it with someone special, I urge you to show more love to yourself. Your self worth or confidence does not come from anyone but from yourself. Have a splendid day filled with love and remember to make time to do things you enjoy too.
(SP) It’s been awhile since I last updated this space as I had been tasked for several overseas assignments by my company to conduct the Mid Brain class in different cities. This time I am back in Singapore for two weeks and I hope I can complete as many work as I would like.
Before I go for any overseas assignments, I would like to get my eyelash extension done as it saves a lot of my make up time. This is extremely important because I can sleep in a little longer and save A LOT of my time on eye make-up. All I have to do is dust some loose powder on the face and brush a little blusher on the cheeks; and I will be ready for my day!
I was invited to Lushlashh which is centrally located at 13A Bali Lane.
Stepping in, the outlet is spacious and roomy; there is also a waiting area with sofa, so whoever who is accompanying you for the session can wait comfortably too. I am super afraid of the cold, so I love that I can tuck under their comfy blanket when I am on the treatment bed while getting my lashes fixed.
Here’s a quick guide and some tips for you to note if you haven’t done eyelash extension before:
Have an idea of what you want
If not, fret not too; before the treatment, you can speak to the therapist to understand the lashes they have and pick one from their selection. I like my lashes dramatic otherwise I see no point in doing it. In my opinion, if you want something that others can barely notice, you might as well just use a mascara to achieve the same effect for yourself. But not everyone thinks the same, so Lushlashh has a variety of choices for you to pick. As for myself, I decided to go for C-curl 12mm for a natural yet WOW effect.
2.Never open your eyes during the treatment
Lushlashh specializes in strand by strand eye lash extension using products directly imported from Korea. Applying a full set of lashes takes about an hour so you get to have a shut eye while having it done. I think I fell asleep halfway haha. Do avoid opening your eyes during the application so that no glue will get into your eye!
3. Always check the eyelash extension results
When it is done, always check the mirror to see if you are happy with the results. There were some strands that were wrongly glued to my lower lash line, I told the therapist and within the next 5 mins, I have the perfect lashes I have been looking for! At Lushlashh, you can be sure you get to be happy with how the lashes look before you leave the place.
4.Avoid oil-based make up remover for a lasting results
For a lasting result, avoid using oil based products or makeup remover around the eye area. They could weaken the adhesive glue and cause lashes to fall off.
My overall experience with Lushlashh was good. They were thoughtful to use an eye mask for the eye instead of using painful sticky eye tape for bottom lashes. I like that the eye mask could help to rejuvenate and brighten my dark eye circles while I had my extension done. Most importantly, I like the outcome of the extensions! The lashes were feathery and light, I didn’t feel that there was anything that was weighing down or making my eyes uncomfortable.
Thank you Lushlashh for keeping my lashes fluttery and ready for any work trips!

I had taken a break from blogging as I was busy for the competition of Miss Singapore International (MSI) 2016 which happened just awhile ago. Prior to the competition, I was so busy juggling work and the trainings; I had so many breakouts multiple times a week (the thick makeup I have to wear made my skin so much worse too :(). On a usual basis, I battle with small pimples on my forehead, but this year, (to my horror!), I’ve started having a few big pimples on my cheek and chin area together with some stubborn red marks from old breakouts.
For awhile, I relied on over-the-counter products but quickly I realized they don’t treat the root problem of acne, and they take very long to decrease inflammation. Dryness of the skin usually comes with it too.
That is when I decided I needed to sought professional help and here I am back with trusty Dr Terence Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics.
Why I like visiting Halley Medical Aesthetics:
For customized solutions that address my specific skin concern. This visit, Dr Tan professionally designed a “off the menu” laser treatment specially for me.
There are no downtime solutions for me! I can get treated and go up and about for my daily schedule right after the treatment.
After a comprehensive consultation, Dr Terence Tan customised a no downtime laser treatment combining two different lasers to address my acne concerns and improve my skin texture. The first was a long pulsed laser treatment to treat acne by clearing and rejuvenating pores. The second was a Q-switched laser to minimise pigmentation. The treatments came in timely as I was just one week to the finals of MSI competition and I want nothing but perfect skin for the big day.
For any treatments to be effective, the first step has got to be thorough cleansing. Halley Medical Aesthetic has an experienced and professional team that always make me feel at ease when they work their magic. I was comfortably lying down on their reclining treatment chair, while Dr Tan’s assistant helped with the removal of my existing makeup. The facial cleanser they use removes impurities on the surface skin and helps prepare my skin for the treatment thereafter.
The red spots on my face are actually acne marks that have been there for a long time. As a perfectionist and someone who is in the beauty industry, I am emotionally disturbed every night by the presence of such unsightly scars. I am sure many of you will know what I mean because these tiny scars take what seems like FOREVER to lighten or even disappear.
The first part of the laser treatment is the long pulsed laser prescribed for me by Dr Tan because it can accurately focus on small spots with very high energy. The aim is to target the specific problematic spot without harming the surrounding tissue. The whole process was almost painless (discomfort level is 1 out of 10 with 10 as most uncomfortable), and the whole procedure was so relaxing, I hardly felt any discomfort or pain. Along with the laser therapy, Dr Tan used another hand piece that provided a constant stream of cooling air to cool and provide comfort on my face. So imagine an intense cool stream of air like air con being blown on your face during the entire therapy, the feeling was so SHIOK (sorry for the lack of a better word!)!
Dr Tan’s professionalism always wow me every visit as the process is usually very quick, fuss-free and delivers results. He chats with me during the process to make me feel very relax.
The second treatment is the Q-switched laser, it is made of extremely short pulse duration and it targets very small pigment cells and particles. Comparing the two lasers, this second one has an tapping effect that could be felt. You could feel short pulses of energy being directed on to your face. Discomfort is only a low 3 out of 10, where 10 is the most uncomfortable. The process was quick; it took only around 5-10 minutes to cover the whole surface area of the face. The two laser treatments combined makes it perfect for a lunch time rejuvenation or an express acne recovery treatment when you need it.
What I love about this treatment? There is no redness, bruising, blistering and pain AT ALL. Throughout the process, I could almost fall asleep. Also, I am so impressed that Dr Tan is so meticulous! He wouldn’t miss any spots; I have some acne scars below the area where the goggle was covering and Dr Tan would lift the goggle up to make sure he covered every single spot.
For the two laser treatments, there are no needles or anaesthesia involved. It took only 20-30 minutes for the whole face. Anyone of any age who suffers from acne, acne scars or enlarged pores are recommended for this procedure. The laser treatment stimulates deep collagen production to improve the scars from within. As mentioned by Dr Tan, laser treatments improve the skin, but it will take a few sessions, hence, expectations need to be managed when undertaking this treatment to clear or remove your acne concerns.
In summary, this procedure is safe, has no side effects and no downtime. After only one treatment, I could visibly feel that my skin is brighter and smoother. The cost for each individual treatment is at $370 each. For optimal results, minimise exposure to the sun right after treatment and repeated visits are recommended!
Here’s a photo of me taken right after the treatment, and you can see that my face is practically glowing even without makeup. I was ready to go for my next appointments for the day too!
On a side note, here’s presenting to you the First Runner-Up and subsidiary award title Miss Elegance from Miss Singapore International 2016. A big thank you to Halley Medical Aesthetic for taking care of my skin needs for me to look perfectly flawless before the audition (when I did my fillers) and attentively taking care of my acne scar marks just 16 days before my finals.
I always feel the best doctors are those who care about your concerns and find the most suitable solution for you. Thank you Dr Tan for making me feel at home whenever I am at Halley Medical Aesthetics! For my readers, if you had been plagued with any skin issues, be empowered to improve things and learn ways to achieve the perfect skin you have always desire too!
