I don’t need a handsome face. I want a kind hearted soul. I don’t need six pack abs or a fortune to spend from. I want a sincere man. I don’t know who my Mr Right is. But I do know I want someone down-to-earth, reliable and who puts me as one of his life priorities.
Through the ups and downs of my previous relationships, I have learnt some hard facts about love. One, you can never make someone love you. If he doesn’t prioritize you, he is just not that into you. I dated someone once who asked me “can I not call you everyday?” and someone else who has all the time to reply others but not me. A lacklustre effort with odd excuses is a major turn-off sign.
Two, trust is like an eraser; it gets smaller and smaller after every mistake. I once lost myself in an abusive relationship where I met someone who cheats habitually. For 2.5 years, I watched him being flirty, chatty and touchy with other girls. It is a hard pill to swallow. I learnt that trust is the fundamental key to a good relationship.
Call it fate or destiny. Sherman and I met around two years ago. It wasn’t love at first sight.
And boy, I am glad.
The last thing I have learnt? Relationships can only succeed when there is a foundation to base it upon, such as common interests, mutual friends and experiences. On retrospect, I am glad that we took our time to let this feeling grow. Being with him gives me happiness, it is a warm and fuzzy feeling where I know I can count on him to be my pillar of strength at all times. & I guess, the right person is someone that you don’t have to give second thoughts about his words or actions. Most importantly, he is also one who makes me a better version of myself.
To celebrate our love, we are stoked to have two really kind photographers to help with our styled shoot at Punggol Beach. See Wild and Free Part 1 of the styled shoot here. This part II blogpost is dedicated to Leo’s work. Leo from Journey Record makes this shoot a breeze as he had done all the preparation work prior to the shoot. He is highly responsive, full of ideas and had done all the homework (& of course the recce) about the venue and its set-up before the shoot. I just had to be there, & he does the rest.
This Christmas they are hosting a Photogenic Couple Contest; and you stand to win a 2 hours photo shoot session complete with hair & makeup services (worth $699)! For all budget brides out there, contest ends 22 Dec 2017; see more details at @journey.record on Instagram.
Now, enjoy the photos.
For the Wild and Free theme, I picked out 3 flowy A-line gowns from WeddingCrafters which added femininity and graciousness to the overall feel. The light as air A line gowns are of good quality, plus they don’t come with a hefty price tag. If you like any of the gowns I wore, WeddingCrafters has the most transparent and reasonable flat fee pricing. Each gown is going only at $990 NETT regardless of design. The gowns come with a standard 5 days rental period, and the price is inclusive of fitting, size alterations and dry cleaning. Worried about the selection? Don’t be! I visited their boutique and there were MANY to choose from! Their founder’s, Cheryl, service was also impeccable.
For hair and makeup, I am simply blown away by the creation of Fidelis Toh from The Luckiest Chick Makeup. Fidelis is a professional wedding makeup artist who is trained in Taiwan, and I love the romantic and natural bridal look that she had created for me. My favourite part is the combination of braids and tousled waves which added to the tasteful touch to this theme shoot. You’ll be happy to hear that shaping & trimming of brows, false lashes and rental of hair accessories are complimentary too! So you don’t have to worry about topping up additional amounts for the service at all. For one bridal makeup and hairdo for solemnisation/pre-wedding or photoshoot, prices is as low as $300.
For ladies who love the glowy and dewy look, trust me, you’ll love Fidelis!
No shoot is perfect without styling and the meticulous planning. And I have the vendors to thank for. Shumin and Siling from Glittering Carousel helped us so much with the perfect venue styling and liaison with the vendors when Sherman and I were swarmed. Such gems. They keep everything stress-free. Another plus point when working with wedding planners? They make recommendations that you can trust & can (maybe) also get you a vendor discount (because they have many friends in the industry!). You can’t imagine how much time, energy and effort I have saved. They are so proficient, they know who to look for to get things done. Full fledge wedding planning inclusive of venue sourcing is approximately $3500 (payment is a 50% deposit followed by balance on your wedding day).
A style shoot isn’t complete without a bridal bouquet, all the pretty blooms you see are from The Flower Practice. Their founders Jerrell and Christopher, though young, were very helpful and super accommodating to help style the floral arrangement I have in mind. They were involved in every step of the discussion and were willing to go the extra mile to make the shoot perfect. I love how fresh flowers added so much romantic touch to the whole shoot! Bridal bouquet prices start from $99, and the one featured was $120.
The Flower Practice specializes in customized bouquet and can do car centerpieces, floral arch and reception decoration as well. Pssst… if you are looking for a little gift for yourself or your girlfriend, go check out their Christmas edition bouquet giveaway! All you have to do, follow their Instagram page at @theflowerpractice, tag 2 friends and complete a survey. Yes, it is that simple!
Next, let’s take a closer look at my accessories. The lovely ring and dazzling earring are from Pantheon Silver. A local brand, Pantheon Silver is all about beauty, artistry, style and grandeur. The founder Carrie handpicked two rose gold items for the shoot which added to the delicate and feminine touch to the overall theme. Honestly, all her items embody timeless beauty and perfection; and accessories that are rose gold does wonder in setting my heart aflutter (*hint hint*)! For brides on a budget, you will be happy to hear that the Singur Rose Quartz Ring is retailing at $82 only and Detaliu Rose Gold Earrings at $94 only.
Curve N Line Beautee is my trusted nail salon for nail services (find them on IG @curvenlinebeautee) as it is a stone throw away from my office (less than 5 minutes walk). They are nestled in between Bugis and Rochor area; offering manicure and pedicure services. My set of classic gelish manicure and nail art is at $50 only. Find my previous review on their service & beauticians here.
If you are looking for other products to add to the stellar effect of your shoot, the crystal bouquets are from BlackAccessories, bridal shoes from Sinderella, and the comfy white fabric that Sherman and I were lying on is from @Angiecurtains (they are only on IG for now).
On a side note, I just got new curtains from @angiecurtains for my bedroom (#notsponsored), will show you all photos the next time!
& what is a shoot without sweets! They say a hungry man is a angry man. Thankfully we have yummilious (& beautiful) cakes & desserts from @suzettesg to keep my man from turning into an angry man. Note that there is bite missing on one of the cakes because we really ate it haha
As Sherman and I are moving into the next chapter of our lives, we are excited to share more about our wedding preparation, tips on styled shoots and more reviews on wedding related vendors. Be updated of our wedding shenanigan on Instagram at @sgstylecouple and @jacelynphang. We are also opening collaboration slots in 2018, so write to me at email@example.com to be in touch 🙂
Thanks for reading this thus far, and here’s expressing my heartfelt appreciation for the help from all participating vendors again.
