On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you with your looks? If given the chance to change your look, what would you change?
I asked this question repeatedly to myself and frankly I would give my appearance a 9. I embrace my multiple eyelids, weird dimples on my cheeks, gummy smile and bugs bunny protruding front teeth readily. Yet, there’s this thing about my dark eye circles that I always feel could do with a little bit of improvement.
With a bit of asthmatic condition, I have been battling poor circulation issues at the under eye area for the longest time. No matter how much eye creams I have applied, this problem has been persistent. Since there are no pills or effective creams in combating dark under-eye circles, I had almost given up hope until I met Dr Terence Tan from Halley Medical Aesthetics.
A few weeks ago, I was very privileged to consult with Dr Tan, a medical expert who has had close to 20 years of medical experience.
I’m a medical aesthetic virgin so imagine my gear for ANY treatments at all. Except for having my braces done, I have never done any invasive or non-invasive procedures to enhance my look, so imagine my fear for any treatments at all. I went to the consultation with a lot of curiosity and a slight apprehension.
Throughout the meeting, Dr Tan was quick to ease my fear as he first understands my concerns before giving me solutions on resolving them. In a very patient manner, Dr Tan shared with me about his knowledge and I learnt so much about dermal fillers to help resolve my under eye circles concerns in just one consultation.
For my scenario, the hollowness of under the eyes is something that no concealer can fully hide, and this is where dermal fillers can come into play because they are injectibles that act like inflatable cushions to support the sunken in facial structure. Dermal fillers will be injected into the tear troughs to help plump up and camouflage the dark eye circles.
The most widely used type of dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid fillers because they deliver immediate results while adding instant moisture to the skin. For my eye area, Dr Tan suggested Restylane Perlane and Restylane SkinBoosters which are specific formulation of non-animal sourced hyaluronic acid. I did a quick google check and was pleased to find out that Restylane was the first stabilized hyaluronic acid filler in the market and is reportedly being used in over 11 million treatments worldwide. Knowing that definitely gave me more re-assurance and comfort.
The above is the magic needle that Dr Terence Tan will use. It is FDA approved and known to reduce pain, recovery time and permit a better application.
Overall, Halley Medical Aesthetics really made me feel at home. Dr Tan wow-ed me with his professionalism, dedication and expertise in this field. I am also so happy to finally find a solution to:
