I believe if you look your best, you feel better and you perform better.
What I’ll be sharing with you all today is a little gem that I found in heart of Singapore. I usually get my suits off the rack due to the convenience of it and my lack of knowledge in suit. As i move into the corporate world and that was when I realized how essential a tailor set of suits is. In business, it really is true that you never (or seldom) get a second chance to make a good first impression.
“When people say, ‘Wear your heart on your sleeve,’ you can take that advice in a very literal sense when it comes to grooming.”
There is something magical and powerful about suit. Isn’t it just another piece of clothing or style but why does it make such a significant difference? There is something about a man in a suit. There is something empowering about it. Women love to their men in suit, and men love to wear them. A man in a suit, represent a sophistication and class that he is making things happen, he is successful. That may not be the reality but it gives that perception.
Benjamin, despite his young age, he knows what he is doing and he is really good at it. He not only shared with me the different types of suits, shirts and even casual wear like denim that is addressing both simplicity yet contemporary style that would suit majority of the audience out there.
The process is pretty straight forward, make an appointment with MADE SUITS. Then head down for 1st measurement – took my measurements to ensure I get a perfect fit. MADE SUITS also shared with me why is it important to get the right fit, for most of us if you are wearing blazer or suits, if the fit is wrong, any movement is restricted and shirts get un-tucked easily.
Next, choose your fabric with fully customizable options from colors to buttons to lining. You get to construct a masterpiece with a master craftsman who will guide you. For someone like me, who have zero knowledge, like all i know is – matching colour for your blazer and pants. But there are way more than just colour but the cutting, style, collars and finishing which I probably need like 10 posts in order to share all. Luckily, Benjamin was very patience with all my questions.
The History of Suit, the wider the LAPEL, the more power and wealth you represent back then, but right now it more of personal preference and how it change the style and perception of the suit.
Came down for fitting to ensure the final piece is perfect. The whole process took about 2 weeks which is reasonable for the meticulous work and details put into it.
I chose something more casual yet modern, something that suit my personality. A blue stripe shirt with brown suit – cause i wanted the whole “OPPA” feel, and I shared with Benjamin what I am looking for, my budget and work restriction, so this is the final piece.
