Housed at the corner of the bustling Odeon towers is Osaka One-Michelin-starred Japanese Restaurant Ginza Rokukakutei. The restaurant is within a walking distance from City Hall MRT station.
“Rokukaku” means six senses- the five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, and the sense of creating. Tei means torch, a word chosen by Chef Hideyuki Tanaka’s master in hopes that many people will gather around and be drawn to this torch. Following the success of Man Man Unagi Japanese Restaurant at 1 Keong Saik Road, Chef Teppei Yamashita is opening 2nd outlet at Duo Galleria. If you have not heard of this Singapore Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant is so famous that the average queue is at least an hour to two. Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is a Japanese ramen restaurant renowned for its Hokkaido-style ramen and pork cheek. My sister and I visited one of their outlets in Central, Clark Quay over the weekend to check out their new ramen menu. Apparently Santouka is one of the best ramen in Tokyo and Singapore based on the google reviews. The founder, Hitoshi Hatanaka opened his own ramen shop at Hokkaido in 1988. Tengawa Hokkaido White Curry located at Millenia Walk is the first Japanese restaurant in Singapore that serve white curry. The shop is at the entrance of Nihon Street. Nicholas and I visited the place few weeks ago ( 24 February 2017) for dinner. I was surprised to see my ex-supplier, Bobby around and only get to know that he is one of the owners of the restaurant. I was at Maru-Ten Udon located at United Square 2 weeks back with fellow foodies for a tasting session. Maru-Ten started venturing into Singapore F&B in June 2015 and has 4 outlets up to today. I visited their outlet in United Square which is a walking distance from Novena MRT station. Maru-Ten is just opposite Subway and also food court in the mall facing the landscape area.
