So I was recently invited to Lucha Loco for a dinner tasting session. Lucha Loco located at Duxton hill is located within a walking distance from both Tanjong Pagar and Chinatown MRT station. The restaurant offers contemporary Mexican cuisines and cocktails, which is perfect for a chill out moment after a day of work.

Lucha Loco has recently launched a refreshed menu, while being a part of an exciting taco-off by six of Singapore’s best chefs.The scrumptious twelve-week initiative will feature one uniquely crafted taco by an acclaimed chef every two weeks. The all-star lineup includes Chef Bjorn Shen, Chef Andrew Walsh (Cure), Chef Dave Pynt (Burnt Ends), Chef Rishi Naleendra (Cheek by Jowl), Chef Ryan Clift (Tippling Club) and Chef Sam Aisbett (Whitegrass). The challenge will culminate in a finale party where the winner will be crowned by a panel of esteemed judges, including Sarah Benjamin, host on Asian Food Channel.
My foodie friends and I were there during Chef Rishi Naleendra’s week. And here are the food that we tried that night!
Mexican street style grilled corn with chipotle mayo and cotjia cheese. Indulgent treat of the rendition I would say. It’s quite addictive for me.

One of my favourite of the night is this torched fresh sashimi grade tuna topped with fried onion, avocado slices and been smoked over oak chips. It is definitely a good start as an appertizer. I couldn’t stop at one.

This is specially curated by Chef Rishi as part of “Taco Libre” from 11th to 23 September. The tacos served with curried Sri Lankan Black Pork, coconut and chipotle sambal and lime. There is a taste of fushion and the overall texture of the meat was juicy and tender. There is this after spicy taste kicked off after the bite. It was rather interesting with the combination of ingredients.

Tender and succulent seasoned braised lamb topped with grilled tomato, mint and red onion salsa as dressing.And the best part is that the lamb meat is not gamey at all.

I ordered this sweet Cimarron blanco tequila with lychee and lime cocktail to enjoy my night. What a perfect indulge!
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas. The best part of indoor seating is that the place is fully air-conditioned whereas the outdoor seating has a lively ambience and party-feel like atmosphere to chill for groups. I definitely come back for the food and the ambience here with a bunch of friends.
