[SG EATS] Lucha Loco – Mexican Cuisine At Duxton Hill

The restaurant offers contemporary Mexican cuisines and cocktails, which is perfect for a chill out moment after a day of work.

About Lucha Loco
After establishing itself as the front-runner in the local Mexican scene, Lucha Loco proudly presents its newly renovated space that is inspired by the tropical restaurants and bars in Tulum, Mexico. Perched atop the bustling community of Duxton Hill, Lucha Loco opened for business in September 2012. Holding reference to “Lucha Libre”, Lucha Loco prides itself in its relaxed and vibrant Loco vibes, and exciting Aztec and Mayan themed cocktail list. The Loco Group’s Culinary Director, Chef Jason Jones and Head Chef of Lucha Loco, Tony Tan, showcase their culinary take on the vibrant Mexican flavours through their creative and delectable plates with the newly refreshed menu. Also an agave spirit aficionado’s heaven, the Lucha Loco bar offers a wide selection of Singapore’s finest tequilas, mezcal and cocktails, specially selected to pique the interest of any discerning guest.

Lucha Loco has recently launched a refreshed menu, while being a part of an exciting taco-off by six of Singapore’s best chefs.The scrumptious twelve-week initiative will feature one uniquely crafted taco by an acclaimed chef every two weeks. The all-star lineup includes Chef Bjorn Shen, Chef Andrew Walsh (Cure), Chef Dave Pynt (Burnt Ends), Chef Rishi Naleendra (Cheek by Jowl), Chef Ryan Clift (Tippling Club) and Chef Sam Aisbett (Whitegrass). The challenge will culminate in a finale party where the winner will be crowned by a panel of esteemed judges, including Sarah Benjamin, host on Asian Food Channel.

My foodie friends and I were there during Chef Rishi Naleendra’s week. And here are the food that we tried that night!

Mexican street style grilled corn with chipotle mayo and cotjia cheese. Indulgent treat of the rendition I would say. It’s quite addictive for me.

One of my favourite of the night is this torched fresh sashimi grade tuna topped with fried onion, avocado slices and been smoked over oak chips. It is definitely a good start as an appertizer. I couldn’t stop at one.

Cerdo de Cerdo de Sri Lankan by Chef Rishi Naleendra S$10.00++

This is specially curated by Chef Rishi as part of “Taco Libre” from 11th to 23 September. The tacos served with curried Sri Lankan Black Pork, coconut and chipotle sambal and lime. There is a taste of fushion and the overall texture of the meat was juicy and tender. There is this after spicy taste kicked off after the bite. It was rather interesting with the combination of ingredients.

Baja Fish S$11.00++

I ordered this sweet Cimarron blanco tequila with lychee and lime cocktail to enjoy my night. What a perfect indulge!
Lucha Loco-Duxton Hill
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating areas. The best part of indoor seating is that the place is fully air-conditioned whereas the outdoor seating has a lively ambience and party-feel like atmosphere to chill for groups. I definitely come back for the food and the ambience here with a bunch of friends.
