My Skin Diary: Acne

I’ve decided to start a series of post titled My Skin Diary. Having acne problems since 16, I have done a lot to battle acne. Acne has been a big problem to me and it’s also one of the factors that makes me start beauty blogging.

I don’t really have old photos of myself when i was 16 but I do have photos of my bad acne lying around in my hard disk.

Instead of disgusting you all with the acne photos, I decided to do just a collage.

As you can see from the collage, it shows the condition of my skin with and without makeup. Acne was still obvious with makeup.

You can see the bumps, the redness around the cheeks. Or mainly the bumps! Oh, you don’t know how I hated those bumps!

There was a time where my acne problem is so bad that the bumps are like red, swollen and it hurts with a touch!

Here’s a closer look. I purposely sharpen the photo so that you can see the bumps clearly! This was taken back in 2009 when I just started beauty blogging for like 3 or 4 months. This is with makeup, so it’s actually a lot worse when make up is removed.

I admit that near the beginning, I made the mistake by trying to cover up the acne with loads of makeup. Piling on concealer and foundation like it’s free. What’s worst is that my techniques at that time wasn’t really good and I did not manage to conceal them properly. It was until much later when I realized that I am putting too much on the acne that I ditched the concealer and used only powder. I should concentrate on skin care rather then just covering with makeup.

Makeup can only covers the acne temporarily and will not get rid of it. We have to work from the skin care, the diet, and a lot of other factors to clear the acne.

Putting on makeup is like painting on a canvas. If your canvas is bumpy and uneven, your painting will not be smooth not matter how much paint you use. But if your canvas is clean and smooth, the least amount of paint can create the best painting.

I’ve done many things to battle my acne. Using different acne related skin care, going to the doctors. Many things and tips which I will slowly share in My Skin Diary posts.

Here’s photos of me bared face. I would say I am rather please with my current complexion. Of course there is still many flaws like black heads, acne scars and slight redness. There’s also slight dark eye circles forming! As one ages, more and more signs will appear on the face. But I’m glad that acne is no longer a big problem to me. I can handle one or two zits at a time. XD

Now I just need to work hard to get rid of those scars and black heads. I do have large pores around my cheek area due to my past acne problem too but that don’t bother me much.

And do you know, I am actually using much lesser base makeup now that my skin is so much clearer!

I’m happy to just apply BB cream and powder with a bit of blush on most of the days!

But I do have a lot more skin care products in my routine. :P

That’s all for this post! I do hope this post is helpful in a way!

Do look forward to more Skin Diary posts where I will post more tips and methods that I’ve tried to achieve good skin!

Do comment or drop me an email with any questions with regards to skin care, acne or makeup. I will do my best to answer your questions.

Wishtrend Blind Test: BB Creams

This is a super overdue post!!

I received the BB cream samples back in DEC’11 and I’m only blogging about it now. >~<

Firstly, a swatch of all the 5 samples. You can see that all 5 samples differs by color and texture. Some with yellow under tones, pink undertones, neutral tones. Some are creamy, some are thick and some are runny.

I did a half face swatch for the samples. Surprisingly, D is not as white as I thought it would appear on my face. It actually have good coverage too and brightens up my complexion.  A blends in well with my skin tone and have average coverage. B has good coverage, brightens up my skin tone. C blends well but coverage is average. E’s coverage is quite good but the shade is actually a little too light for me.

I would say B and D is the better ones in terms of coverage. However B wins in terms of texture and smell. D has quite a strong smell.

Here’s the full face makeup with the various BB creams as bases. Powders used are all the same. XD

There are 13 other bloggers involved in the test too!

Check out the overall results here!

MFP Sex and Love Section

Have you ladies checked out the Sex and Love section on MFP written by local blogger Holly Jean. Each and every article is so true, and interesting. Great tips are given out on some of the articles given and I believe every single lady out there should read about them!

Here’s 3 of my top favorites!

Is Romance Dead?

You can have sex without romance. You can have romance without sex. But one thing is for sure, if you want both in your life, then romance has got to come first. It rarely works the other way round. So let a guy woo you, it is through the process of wooing that romance is born.

What’s your Ideal Age for Marriage?

Plus you have to factor in the likelihood that you’re going to get it wrong a couple of times. So if you want to get married at 25, you cannot start working on it at 24 and a half.

How To Make Your Man Jealous

When you pass a very good looking man on the street, don’t be afraid to take a second look, or even point him out. “Woah, Honey, look at his biceps! Mad huge!”

February Bella Box: Share The Love

I received the February Bella Box with courtesy of the kind people from http://bellabox.sg/ .

For those who do not know, Bella Box acts like a magazine subscription, just that this is a beauty subscription and you’ll get beauty products each month! Subscription is $15 per month/box and you’ll receive 5 different products in the box! The box normally consists of samples and maybe 1 or 2 full sized products. If you like the samples, the full sized are normally available for purchase on BellaBox’s site!

This month’s Bella Box is named Share The Love inspired by V-day!

I am really excited when I received the box! It’s in my fav shade of pastel pink! XD

Open up to reveal the goodies in the box!

Here’s the BellaBox difference! You can even earn points by referring or providing feedback! And these points could be used to purchase the products that you’ve tried and liked!

And here’s the goodies revealed!

5 products! 3 samples and 2 full sized products! I would say it’s definitely worth the $15 bucks even if there’s only just 1 full sized in there!

In the box, they have included the information of the products. Pricing and description plus where to buy are all included!

This is the Ansley Eyeshadow plus eyeliner pot in the shade on Silky Brown. This product itself is good for an everyday neutral look.

Price for this product is $16.90.

A very light swatch of the eyeshadows. I like the shimmer beige shade, looks good to go all over the eyelid.

And I have here the most expensive product in the box! The NVEY Eco Organic eyeshadow that cost $49.90. That’s expensive for a eyeshadow single! However I liked the idea of an organic eyeshadow that even has anti-oxidants in it!

Here’s a close up of the swatch. I like the shade a lot but it’s not as pigmented as per description. The swatch above is actually about 3 swipes of the finger. But it’s definitely has a soft and smooth texture. Would love to put it to action and see how it hold up on the lids.

I really think that beauty subscription boxes is a cool idea. Especially for beauty lovers like myself!

Check out http://bellabox.sg/ now if you’re interested to sign up for a beauty subscription for yourself or your loved ones!

XOXO,

Joyce.Forensia
