Christmas might not be a holiday that is officially recognized on the Taiwanese calendar of public holidays, but that does not mean that there is no Christmas atmosphere and celebrations.
In fact, the festive celebrations are as grand as what we see in Singapore and the cooler weather in Taipei sets everyone in a cozy & heartwarming Christmas mood.
GET IN THE CHRISTMAS MOOD
In the areas surrounding the Banqiao train station, Christmas land is a huge display of lights and decoration in celebration for Christmas. A Christmas market, in front of the huge stage, provides visitors a place to enjoy Christmas culinary choices while having a seat on the benches in front of the main stage. Christmasland in New Taipei City is a huge event and every year it draws huge crowds to the area and to get around, it would be best to download the map of the attractions onto your phone so that you can easy navigate through Christmasland without missing any of the spots that you want to see.
The festive atmosphere is really strong and heartwarming at Christmasland and there is quite a huge bustling crowd when I was there on a weekend evening. You can catch the half hourly shows in the Station Front Square which depicts the Christmas story of the teddy bears.
If you are travelling with kids, you will be glad to know that there are many places and attractions that will keep your little ones happy this Christmas. See the kids friendly areas here.

BE TREATED LIKE ROYALTY
With so many things to see and do in New Taipei City, Banqiao, it would be much better that you stay in the area so that you can take your time to enjoy the sights and sounds around this new suburb.
Caesar Park Hotel Banqiao has got to be choice accommodation for its convenient location and its luxurious touch. Located just in front of Banqiao MRT station on the Blue Line (Bannan Line) it takes less than an hour’s train ride from the Airport get to.
The rooms are very well designed and thought out which makes it feel very much like home. The generous space is put into good use with a nice lounge bed by the window and a bathroom so huge it is like a bedroom.
Besides the design, the service of the hotel staff is an important part in differentiating themselves from any other 5 star hotel on the street. And I must say that my experience there has been nothing short of stellar. From the concierge to the check in counter to the bell boy or any other uniformed staff that I bumped into, they were all smiles with warm greetings and the small chats that they engaged me in really added that personal touch to the stay. I will be sharing a more detailed experience of my stay at Caeser Park Hotel Banqiao in the upcoming posts.
From Taoyuan Airport, the express service of the Airport MRT will bring you to Taipei Main Station in 35mins.
Alight at Taipei Train Station and transfer to Taipei Metro’s Bannan Line, which is identified on the Metro map as Blue Line, heading in the direction of Dingpu.
In about 10mins, you will arrive at Banqiao Station.
Travelers can get their hands on Taipei Metro passes at discounted rates and you can check out their website for their latest promotions and offers.
During the time I was there(Nov 2017), there was a Taoyuan Airport MRT & Taipei Metro combined promotional rate which I found to be attractive for my itinerary. For NT520, you’ll get a return trip for Taoyuan Airport (worth NT320) + 48hr Taipei Metro Pass (worth NT280).
