Weekly life update: 12th to 18th February 2018 – 10th year anniversary, Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year!

Welcome to my CNY week. 😀

We are also heading to Seoul on Monday so remember to follow me on IG at claireaudreylim to see where I go via IGstories.

I am finally going to Korea hahahhaha. Cant wait to ski! I also got my first timberland boots and it costs me $299, so expensive! The sales associate asked if I want to get a protective spray for my boots, I think it costs around $25-$29. Lucky I never, because Simon managed to get a cheaper spray for me from Kim Able.

So here you go for this week’s updates. 🙂

Work day. Nothing much happened. Was pretty distracted cos holiday feel damn strong.

Had yong tau foo for lunch. No noodles nor rice.

My craving kicks in again. I think I’m pmsing again zzz. Decided to try the guan yin cheese tea from Liho and I really don’t like it. This made me miss the cheese tea from Partea!!

Today I went home in the evening to find some stuffs and my ahma stared at me when I told her where Im going hahaha. Well whats new right.

I took grab and the return trip cost me 20 bucks. Money fly away again. T.T

I snacked on love letters when I was at Ahma’s house. I thought this was nice but she don’t think so. Initially I wanted to buy the slim love letters from Olive Bakery but I was late so nothing for me. All sold out already. :/

My husband is sick and his eyes is suffering from some condition, I shall wait for his checkup before sharing with you all.

Amazing isn’t it. 10 years already. <3 Thank you Simone for loving and taking care of me. 😀

I also wanna thank you all for your wishes, I know some of you have been following me since I was 20 years old, that was WHAT? 8 years ago? Super thankful. 🙂

We didn’t go out for fancy dinner or whatever. Just stay home and spend time together.

Had porridge for lunch today. I love to eat porridge with chopsticks. Am I weird?

I was on half day morning leave today and in the afternoon we talked in the office. So we were just talking about our younger times and I shared about how crazy I was into dieting last time. I went to dig out my old photo and thought I was so skinny back then. Limiting myself to 500-800 calories a day, and only eating vegetables. My senior said I should thank god that I am still alive now.

I thank god everyday for giving what I have now. You have no idea how thankful I am actually.

For dinner I had caifan, and I went to buy chilli cuttlefish from Sheng Shiong. wahhaha it was so crispy and shiok lor. I finish the whole packet myself.

Later that night, I went to take photos of the following products. The red cleansing pad is damn good I tell you. You should try it! IMG_5274

And my daily reminder today.

Wednesday. Is it Valentine’s Day today?

I am on time off today. Going to leave office at 430pm. Not to celebrate valentine’s day but to remove my fake eyelashes and to change money at Raffles Place.

I don’t suit extensions because I have really itchy hands.

In the morning one of my followers tag me on instagram. OMG she finally received my present. She is one of my supporters from Philippines. She is really supportive and cute!!

I sent her a small christmas gift and it took 2 months to reach her. omg singpost. I am so glad she liked the present. 🙂

I am really thankful that you guys are so supportive. And I really like to talk to you all. <3 IMG_5281

For lunch I had fish soup from this usual stall at Whampoa Market. I like the soup alot.

I told Simon I would like to have a meat bouquet next valentine’s day. A DIY one because if you don’t make yourself you have to pay $60 to $70 to ask other people make for you.

This bouquet also not bad lah. Got wings and waffle!

Guess what? We didn’t plan anything for valentine’s day because we were so busy recently. But I suddenly got the feel to eat out.

I called Prive in the afternoon and almost booked us at Empress. Only after I go and research what is Empress then I know it’s actually chinese food. LOL. I nearly faint please.

Anyway I cancelled the reservation and we randomly just walked into Brotzeit that evening. IMG_5313

I’ve been wanting to try their pork knuckle since forever and I’m glad we finally tried it!

And yes I am a timberland member now.

The skin and meat really damn shiok!!! Toothache also worth it man.

That night I finally shared about the Halfmoon eyes pink fruity wash off pack with you guys. Go and read my review on my instagram. I seriously love this alot!

And here’s the present!! Actually we are not supposed to buy anything but he surprised me again! I love this practical present. I think it is about $176 at Sephora?? I would have bought it last year without thinking but this year after having a financial advisor, I am controlling alot now. I can spend la actually but the more money you have the better right??

Simon knows I wouldn’t get it so he got it for me. 🙂 Me loves chloe!

And thank you b for the baby breath. 😀

Yay to half day and CNY reunion dinner! Simon suggested to eat out this year and we went to Soup restaurant for dinner! For 10 pax it was $700+. Expensive hor?

And let me share my secret to longer lashes! I use the mascara from the face shop and essence to create these lashes. It’s my own lashes okay. Damn happy!

Come follow me on instagram: @claireaudreylim. I share alot of crap on my IG stories too! IMG_5342

Me love braised peanuts!IMG_5347

Yay lohei time! Look how cute christabel is! IMG_5351

The samsui chicken! My favourite!IMG_5354

Pen Cai! Check those abalone out!IMG_5355

next we went to ahma house. My face looks sad because… toothache… IMG_5365

Soup restaurant gave us 2 fish nian gao and we brought one of them to Ahma’s place. IMG_5367

2nd reunion dinner! Super full i tell you and fat!IMG_5368

Sukiyaki sia..

and my ahma’s famous la si ni chilli.

Ootd for today! Dress is from thestagewalk. I’m kinda obsessed with their dresses lately. You must be thinking why I post lesser ootds on instagram now. I’m into makeup and skincare this year!

Earlier on selfie. ^^v

Had blueberries for breakfast. Nothing to eat in the morning!

Here’s my makeup for the day!

Supposed to go in laws place in the morning but we woke up late so we spent the whole day at ahma’s house.

Late breakfast at toast box. The floss toast and eggs so damn shiok!

And here’s my Cny day 1 ootd at northpoint city hahaha. So romantic hor the lights.

I told Simon if I work at yishun polyclinic sure very convenient. Near ahma’s and our house.

Need to chiong to in laws’ house so I had no time to apply makeup.. faint..

The drumlets and hawaiian pizza are good!

then our friends came over to our place for gambling session in the evening! I won about $100+ last year and they are determined to ‘kill’ me this year.

William Chua is a bartender from Hawaii. LOL!!!

He mixed Ribena and Gin??

We had kuek lapis and bak kwas too! Thank you fragrance for the bak kwas! hehe.

Actually I hate alcohol. I prefer asahi or tiger radler beer. I like the lemon flavour one. I haven’t tried the ginger and lime flavour but they said not very nice leh..

And if you’re wondering.. Actually I won $78 this year hahaha. Damn funny lor. Hanwen, Kiangmeng and William place their bets with me so they could earn money also. And I told them I only open 2 slots. HAHAHA.

from my igstory: claireaudreylim

Oh ya I also want to complain about comfort. I booked a cab using comfort delgro app yesterday from my house to Hougang. When I received the call from the operator I was already in the lift. When I reached the first level, I got another call telling me the driver has left. WALAO U KNOW I EVEN CALL THE DRIVER AND HE REFUSED TO PICK UP MY CALL. I am so angry lor. I always support comfort delgro so I am really disappointed. -_-

But the fare is good la. During peak hours grab fares always shoot up but comfort is always consistent. sigh..

Nothing much. Edit videos, work and blog. That’s pretty much my sunday. 🙂
Crossing my fingers, hope to hear some good news when I’m back next Sunday.

Till next week. 🙂

Weekly life update: 5th to 11th February 2018 (CNY goodies, mould at home, beauty products)

I had alot of fun updating my dayre these days, because it was easier, more personal and ‘private’. I don’t need to tell people who I am, I don’t need to work on my english, I don’t need to edit my photos and I don’t need to worry what other people think about what I said. I could tell the whole world I 流口水 while sleeping and nobody would care.

I can just talk to anybody and no one needs to know who I am, if I am a blogger or an influencer or whatever shitname this industry has for us now.

I felt really free at Dayre and I wonder why I feel so uncomfortable with my blog recently. I miss those days where I can just talk shit and rant here without being professional.

So after some thoughts yesterday I decided to update more here. I will blog more on my life, random things and what I do on a daily basis. Due to my hectic schedule it is really hard to update everyday so for now I will provide a weekly update instead to share with you what I have been doing and up to.

Recently I am also working on something new and there are also some decisions I need to make by June.

This is going to be like my personal diary. It might be boring on some weeks but I don’t care. I need a space to help me record all the small little details that are happening in my life.

So ya, here you go. My first update for the week. 🙂

As usual I went to work. For lunch I had chicken chop. I wanted to eat from the same stall but they did not open. So I ordered from another stall, the stall is call something Sim Lim one. Usually I have my lunch at either whampoa big or small market and some of the other coffee shops along the neighbourhood. Alot of choices but as usual after 3 months Im bored already., totally have no idea what to eat now. The most sian thing is what you know? No salad!!! I feel so fat after working here even though I didnt gain any weight.

So ya back to my chicken chop it was okay only, chicken was too salty. $5.50. Not too bad.

During lunch we talked about valentine’s day, shopping for chinese new year and all sorts of lame things.

That evening, I asked Simon to help me collect my pants from refash. I like refash but it’s very troublesome. I bought a few pieces from them and I had to go down several times to collect because once the clothes are ready I had to collect them within 4days. And they are not ready at the same time one leh..

Anyway I had a similar white size S pants from theclosetlover but I sold it away cos white gets dirty easily hence I bought a 2nd hand blue one and thought maybe I should try size M since the S was a little tight on the hips and loose on the waist.

I tried on the pants and got disappointed because it was too loose sigh..

Screen Shot 2018-02-11 at 5.02.19 PM

I have the above pants in Navy colour. If you are interested. Email me at dreylim1@gmail.com or dm me at instagram: claireaudreylim.

I also brought home the kueh lapis I brought from this shop call – Authentic Baker’s Centre from Indonesia.

They came to my office and I ordered one for my family. Its big and only $38!! Bengawan solo already sell $60plus lor. The taste also quite good just that cannot be compared to bengawan solo la haha.

After we had our dinner (don’t remember what I ate already) I went to work on my campaigns.

Some blogger friends of mine have been asking why they don’t see me at events or food tasting anymore. Other than just wanting to rest, I have to work. Morning my normal work evening time my ‘influencer’ work. God I really hate this term. And also for many other reasons lah maybe soon I will be able to share with you. 🙂

Another super busy day.

I had this really strong cravings for pineapple tarts and so far we havent buy any goodies yet. So I went to compassone and almost got pineapple tarts from Tosuta and Bakery Cuisine but suddenly felt bad because I have always been a huge supporter of Olive Bakery.

But anyway Bakery Cuisine’s tarts were a little too sweet.

Tosuta’s salted egg potato chips were really good though! And their pineapple tarts got so many different flavours.

In the end…. I went to Olive and got one yuan yang love letters and pineapple tarts. Do you remember the salted egg pineapple tarts I tried last year? Yah same shop.

And then they also made this super cute rice bucket cake. omg. This is the last one already because all sold out!

Next I went to open letter box and I was so happy to see my package! I bought one dress from carousell and I really like that piece!

However I was disappointed again because there were marks and tears on the dress. Sigh. Not good not good. I talked to the seller and she was nice enough to refund me. Thank god I don’t need to face another carousell fight.

Then I worked on my campaign again. Ya my life.

Also saw this hello kitty sneakers from Puma. So cute but too kiddy for me la..

Then that night I posted these phone cases on instagram.

It’s really pretty and they are made from real dried flowers. Check this link out if you are interested: https://www.foxideashop.com/?product_cat=mobile

By the way in case you all are wondering hor, I always do background checks on what I will be advertising before I accept it. Most of the time I accept because I really want to try the products.

A selfie finally because I havent posted any since my eyelash extensions. I had mine done at skinlashsg and Debbie was such a nice and sweet girl. I really like her alot.

If you quote my name you will enjoy 20% discount! Go check her out at @skinlashsg on instagram.

Today I had laksa yongtaufoo for lunch. And then I felt bloated for the rest of the day.

For dinner I had stuff’d. Forever the same chicken kebab.

And I always look forward to the quotes.

Tonight I don’t need to work on anything and so I watch Netflix. I am finishing drop dead diva already so now I am on Jane the virgin. I stop watching pretty little liars and riverdale because they are too intense.

I had the time to blog today but I just didnt want to ‘work’ again.

I finally set up the thing. Bye USD400.

I was also on MC and I went somewhere then to my usual Olive tree clinic. I really cannot tahan the doctor but its cheap! It was only 20 or 20plus dollars, no wonder so many people go to him. LOL If you know where and who I’m talking about Im sure you can relate.

Then I had dinner at Renjong with Simon. I was distracted because I had alot of things going in my head. Simon was sick and hence he was quite quiet too. I was also worried for his eyes because it had been so red for weeks already.

He went to see doctor for his eyes finally and the GP suspected it might be Pterygium so the doctor referred him to Eye centre. Haiz hope his eyes are okay.

Was obviously distracted because the previous day I got ‘slapped’ by someone. I swear my brain was going to explode already but Simon asked me not to think so much. I asked if he would support my decision and he said he will. But I would have to wait for the next intake which is next year 🙁

Anyway tonight is also the day Im having dinner with WP, J and D so I asked myself to relax and just enjoy the night.

We went to Astons at City Square for dinner and I ordered fiery chicken with mac and cheese. It was my first time trying mac and cheese from Astons and it was surprisingly not bad. There are better mac & cheese elsewhere thats why I never say good. Fiery chicken was shiok but caused me to have diarrhea.. 3 times somemore.

Then I went home and saw these products from Eucerin Singapore. Almost worked with them last year but happy to work with them this time round. 🙂

Fast forward to Saturday.

Met up with Nic my lao peng you. And then Simon came at around 3pm. Chit chat awhile more and Simon went off first and I met him later at Seletar Mall.

Nic gave me pineapple tarts and coffee cookies! I shall share the coffee cookies next time! By the way these pineapple tarts are so mini and cute! Perfect for girls and they are eggless! very nice too! They are from My Mum’s Cookies!

see! So damn cute!

Anyway I had lunch at Ayam Penyet Ria. Ordered meatball beehoon cos its healthier and because my stomach was still aching.

At seletar mall, we went to fairprice to get groceries because Simon won vouchers again.

We had dinner at Kopitiam. I finally tried the chicken rice at the kopitiam outside Fernvale Lrt. The meat was good but the rice was kinda dry.

Would be even better if got Azhar!!

After dinner I came home and change my clothes because it’s time to film. It is the only thing that keeps me sane now.

And I also shared the Labelle Ultrasonic Cleanser on my instagram. I really love this product. It is included in my monthly favorites list so I shall not talk more about it today. But if you are interested to get this product, from now until 12 Feb you will receive a Vitamin C serum for free when you purchase this cleanser!

You will also enjoy additional 15% discount if you quote <claire15> for non event items until 25th Feb.

FYI I wasnt paid to promote this. For all non paid products, I have the option to not share it if it’s not good for me. And if you really want to know, usually I only put #sp for paid ads and when I say something is good I really meant it.

Sunday – last day of the week.

Usually its my stay home day or work till death kind of day. Edit video, edit photos, submit work and do housework. I woke up with many fake lashes on my face because I apparently rub my eyes really violently while I was sleeping. Sigh.. Now my right eyes looked botak 🙁

Then I had breakfast and start cleaning the house and found alot of angbaos at home! If you want you can take from me. hahaha.

Today is also our fight the freaking mould day. I want to swear but I am learning to be more civilised now.

I am really frustrated with these disgusting stuffs. How you all deal with it man? We either bleach or throw now.

Today we also have to prepare our house for CNY because our friends are coming over on CNY day 3 and we will be away from 19th to 24th Feb. Sian this is the first time I am not excited for holidays.

So this is how my week looks like. Actually quite fun to type everything out.

Can’t wait to share the next weekly update already wahahhaa. Thank you for reading if you are reading. 🙂

Travel: 4D3N Hakone and Tokyo (summer) in Summary, it was my birthday! Travel vlogs included!

Hi all, I’m here to write about my Tokyo trip that we went in June 2017. Simon has done his part for the whole trip and today I’m here to share my thoughts on the trip! I did the video and I mentioned that we flew ANA, I want to apologise because we actually flew with Japan Airlines and I totally forgot all about that. So really sorry for the mistake. And I guess I really need to try ANA soon because I wasn’t very pleased with Japan Airlines.

The service was (okay la not bad) but they didn’t serve me food for my return flight which should be included. (holycrap I sound like a brat here lol) Our fares also happened to be on the higher side so I’m really quite frustrated. Nevermind this, I shall continue with my post.

It was a 4D3N trip. You must be thinking Claire must be crazy to go Japan for 4days only!!! I know I thought I was crazy too. But can we get over this already? It’s already 2018.

Today I will only give a summary of the trip and show you the remaining vlogs since Simon has already finished all the blog posts. 🙂

and watch the videos here!

This is new!

So here we go!

Day 1:

We travelled to Hakone from Tokyo and stayed 2 nights in this traditional Japanese house.
I think I prefer to stay in a room where the doors can be locked. It was a really good experience but it makes me a little scared. The house is a little too big too and I kept thinking about scary things. lol.

BUT the location is good, very near convenience store and the bus stop. Abit far from the station though, we had to climb up and down a flight of steep stairs with our luggages.

On one of the nights, we found ants on the mats. But we managed to kill them la. haha.

Went to convenience store to get food and icecream after unpacking our stuffs. 4648

Bought this icecream from the store, this is my favourite icecream! They used to have this in Singapore!

After that, we went to Hakone Castle. It was June, supposed to be summer but the weather was about 19 degrees. Damn shiok and happy.

Very quiet here, unlike Osaka Castle. 62

Hydrangeas in full bloom. Pastel and vibrant flowers, they are so beautiful! 7176

and check out the sunset here. sigh..

For dinner we went to Odawara Fish Market Den! I absolutely love the miso soup! The miso soup got fishbones and clam one! It was so nice! The sashimi is super fresh as well. Looking at this makes me wonder if I should go back to Hakone again, I can try to spot Mt Fuji too. Higher chance to spot Mount Fuji during Spring, Autumn and Winter. 94

We went back to our Airbnb that night and Simon gave me my presents! He should have given me on the actual day but I was really happy to see this pair of earrings though. (one of the presents)!

I couldn’t wear them anymore by the way because I’m allergic to nickel so whenever I put them on, my ears just itch and burn like mad. 🙁 100

Recently I find pandora very cute and girly.

Day 2.

We went to Sengokuhara for the Japanese Pampas grass. But there was only a land of greens because it was summer. So.. wrong timing again. 113

stay here for awhile and we took a bus to our next location and decided to stop at Le Petite Prince museum. We didn’t go in because 1. we don’t want to pay for the entrance fees and 2. we were rushing. 124

Fast forward to Sounzan station where I spotted this super cute caravan cafe and I insisted to wait for the people to come out because I want to take photos inside. 143144

Opposite us we spotted this ‘da’ big mountain. 153

After the coffee break, we went on to take the ropeway! This is my first time taking and I was so excited. Word of advice though, don’t look down. It is really scary. 160

So hello Owakudani!!! I thought the black eggs were really cool hahaha, and so I told Simon I want to come here.

They provided us with mask and wet tissues so we can cover our nose and mouth from the smell. Very smelly by the way, and I guess toxic too? 172

and tada our black eggs! Actually they are just normal boiled eggs (not even onsen eggs) with black shell! It was also my first time eating boil eggs with salt. 174

We try to spot Mt Fuji from the Owakudani Valley but we saw nothing. 🙁

Next we went to Togendai via bus because the ropeway was under maintenance. Here we are for the sightseeing cruise! This is so fun! This was the day I truly felt like a tourist!

The view is priceless! 203

Then we stopped at Hakone Machi, walked the Ancient Cedar avenue and then to Moto Hakone to visit the Hakone Shrine!

This is the famous baby wishing tree! I don’t even dare to stand close to it.

Day 3.

Train back To Tokyo, also feeling a little sad that it is Day 3 already. But I was really excited for my Cat Cafe (1st time) and Ichiran Ramen!

This is the Airbnb we stayed in Tokyo! I tried looking for the listing but I couldn’t find it. Let me try later and I shall update over here. 232

Woohoo Ichiran Ramen!! It is so good!! If you go Japan you must try this! We had this at Shinbashi. 234

And we also had Gindaco!

After this we went to Senso-ji. The last time we were there the giant lanterns were undergoing renovations, but this time we managed to take a photo! Refer to link here.

Before the trip I did some research and found out that there is a famous melon pan shop – Kagetsudo Honten here. I know Simon likes Melon Pan and so I added this to our itinerary. 😀

We ordered the plain melon pan and I was quite disappointed. Although it was buttery and crispy I felt that it was too sweet for my liking.

I think there was supposed to be good coffee somewhere but we ended up going to this Coffee ‘JinLong’ place. Simon ordered latte and they give him instant latte so you know la hor, I don’t even need to describe the taste. 243244

and I stopped somewhere for some iced cold drink after getting a bad divination stick from the temple. I am glad that there is an option for me to tie it somewhere so that the bad luck won’t follow me home. Anyway ever since I moved into our new house, my luck has been pretty good so I am really grateful for this. 247

Next to Shinjuku for shopping and of course Map Camera for his camera stuffs. I really like leica stuffs, but I don’t think I will know how to use. hahaha.

and guess where we went next? How can you not eat Yoshinoya?? It is a must eat in Japan! Hahaha. If you hate spring onions then I’m sorry Im a huge fan!

I think Simon wrote that we ate at somewhere else, that is supposed to be the next day. 261

And finally, cat cafe!! Hehehe. Once again, more photos to visit Simon’s post! I researched and Cat Cafe Calico has quite good reviews hence our visit! Today is also my birthday and I really wanted to play with some cats hehehe.

the cats whisperer!

IMG_0555IMG_0558IMG_0557IMG_0564IMG_0566IMG_0567After that we went back to our Airbnb and here’s my cheesecake from Starbucks. Simon actually sang for me, you can watch the video hahaha!

IMG_0568 (1)Day 4, our last day. 288

Gindaco again for our soul! This outlet is better than the one we ate the day before. I think this is the Harajuku outlet. 291

Oh I love this so much, I missed the ones at Ion Orchard. 🙁

Next we went to Kiddyland Harajuku Store to find Rilakkuma and Kiiroitori! Simon got me some cute things and I got him his favourite Kiiroitori! Hahahaha. 298

Then next to The Roastery by Nozy Coffee for good coffee!313

IMG_0592Super hipster man this place.

And then we went to Patagonia and he bought some stickers for our luggage. LOL! 317

And here we are at Meiji Jinggu! This place is so calm and peaceful. Damn zen. 322325

And I got something good this time! I really love this quote, I am very determined one. 339

Then finally toTonkatsu Hamakatsu at Shinjuku for dinner! 342

Generous serving and awesome food!

After our happy dinner we went to Blue Bottle Coffee for another cuppa. 348

The Queue is Crazy.

IMG_0579After this we just walk around aimlessly, took our luggage (thank god for lockers) and went to take a train to the airport. :/ 356Check out these cute kimono earrings. Cute but I won’t wear. haha so no point buying.

It was a wonderful summer, not so hot and the temperature was quite cooling. Not like the previous time where I went for a media trip and it was pretty hot haha. Japan is really fun and fascinating and I am returning in March again! We will not go again this year because honestly how many times I’ve been to Japan the past one year already? I have commitment issues I need a change.

And oh yah we also bought this castella cake from the airport. Soso only, I prefer singapore butter cake lol.

IMG_0628IMG_0634I recently just booked my november trip and I am really excited. I am so proud that I’m going with my own money! 😀

Also I know I haven’t been updating regularly. I’m pretty busy with campaigns, other important stuffs and my full time job lately. I’m not sure if I will be more busy after June, but I will do my best to keep you all updated.

If you want to know what I have been doing then just follow me on instagram at @claireaudreylim 🙂 I’m quite active on instagram stories, posting alot of nonsense and shit.

Anyway I shall stop here, and I’m glad I finally finished this post! And now I can’t wait for February 19th, my first time to Seoul and Skiing!!! 😀

Thailand’s Stretchiest Cheese Toast ‘SAY CHIIZU’ arrives at our shores!

Last friday I met up with Eunice (omg I KNOW RIGHT) like finally!

Eunice is my advisor/mentor/bestfriend/elder sister, I love her so much. 🙂 We went to the Media preview of ‘Say Chiizu’ together followed by htht at Coasta Coffee.

I’ll talk about our meetup another time since today’s focus is not on us!

Say Chiizu’s famous cheese is made with specially imported Japanese milk, thus resulting in a deliciously premium flavour. It is then mixed with a blend of fresh cheeses such as mozzarella to create the optimum texture for that unmistakable ‘cheese puff’, while staying true to the brand’s emphasis on using ingredients with no addictives or preservatives.

The toast comes in 3 flavours currently and they are Charcoal, Chocolate and Original, each priced at an affordable $3.80.

We tried the original and charcoal toast and look! Check out the cheese!

It is so stretchy!

Even Eunice decided to play with the cheese too!

If you are a cheese and toast lover you really have to try this! This will definitely satisfy your cravings!

The official opening of the 313 Somerset outlet is on 16th January and there is a 1 for 1 promo on the day itself!

E48: Stellar at 1-Atitude review.

Hi guys,

We went to Stellar at 1-Altitude a while back, and here’s what I have to say about the experience…

Well to be fair, 1-Altitude is an awesome place. Stellar is on the 62nd floor and the view is breath-taking, obviously. We made our reservation a week ago and when we arrive, we were ushered to a table by the window. The view can keep my eyes plastered to the glass all night. But its a restaurant we’re in so I should be focusing on the food..

It was a voucher Claire gotten from I don’t know where but we had it so we utilized it. The waiter was a friendly Pak Cik and he made us feel comfortable in this atas venue that I, with my peasant mindset, am having trouble fitting in. He even offered to take a photo of us before the night fall as he said it himself.

It was a quiet evening and there wasn’t many guests around, so we were really enjoying the ambiance of the place.

Before we ordered anything, we were served… Vegemite crackers… See the empty jar? I think they stuffed the contents into that biscuit on it… Vegemite you know? Vegemite. I honestly am not a fan of Vegemite but it was okay.

Starters to start our date night

We took the 3-course meal worth $110++ per pax, but we get to choose from a list of dishes.

Let’s start with with the starters. Claire chose a seemingly harmless Mushroom Consommé made with stock poured over a slab of truffle and a stalk of pickled leek i think? And a single tortelli.

The stock was ok, but Claire was slightly surprised by how ‘harmless’ this dish tastes. I think we were thinking: priced at $110+ per pax, we expected everything to taste divine you see. In my opinion, this is one of the better tasting dishes. I on the other hand, had Seared Hokkaido Scallop.

The description had some fancy name for an oyster and some foreign name for some kind of puree. See that maroon colour sauce? It taste like its made of blood.

A maroon colour puree I would’ve love it if it tasted fruity like grapes or something, but it tasted like boiled blood… I know because I had pig’s blood when I was young and it tasted like that, that iron taste.. That’s why I feel the need for some booze, to muddle my brain and hopefully my taste buds. And here comes the best item of the night, an old school dessert wine, a glass of Taylor’s Tawny Port.

And Claire chose Mojito because she can only stomach mojitos.

In come the Mains

Claire’s main dish came first, and it was a pasta dish, or supposed to be a pasta dish.. Its Truffle Gnocchi with summer greens. Gnocchi are just small dough pieces but we had a hard time differentiating them in the greenish-oily paste/sauce.

After her first mouth, she told me it wasn’t bad, but got a little nauseated by that cloyingly thick sauce after that.

I picked the Braised Tajima Wagyu Chuck Rib in MB 7-8 in Stout. I have no idea what the MB thingy means, but when I see the dish, I thought mine is going to be good. It actually turn out to be good, but not great. I guess you can go horribly wrong with a good slab of wagyu beef unless you burnt the shit.

After half the piece of wagyu, I too got a little nauseated thanks to the oily meat. I am thinking why food this expensive made us feel like puking.

Sweet Surprises

Sweet Wood Fired Nagasaki Corn for Claire, with that roasted corn ice cream with bits of corn, honey comb and erm.. salty fingers? Well I don’t know.. According to Claire, the ice cream was alright only.

Volcanic Pavlova for me, what’s this grey meringue with lots of chamomile ice cream and strawberries with a fancy name?? Well, mine was better because I got the ice cream, fruits and stuff, Claire only had that scoop of ice cream.

All these food stuffs were all so foreign to us we really cannot link the individual components inside each dish compliments each other. It might be an abstract art form that’s lost within us.. Well at least they keep trying to keep us entertained, we were given this sampler of Styles of Citron, really refreshing..

Well, maybe the problem lies with me and not the food. Imagine me, with my peasant mindset, peasant taste buds and peasant soul. I will never understand the deep thoughts of the chef that conjured up these series of innovative, imaginative fusion cuisine that will most certainly delight the selected privileged minority who would frequent this establishment. If this restaurant can stay open for so long, in a location that would probably cost a few limbs to rent, this must serve as a testament that there are others who can appreciate the food here.

So in conclusion: Not for peasants.

Girls outing: Propeller Rooftop Bar

For our 2nd outing, we went to this amazing rooftop bar at Propeller! It was located at Bay Hotel! The view was amazing, the snacks and bites were good and the price was affordable! Got irritated by this female waitress but it’s okay at least we had fun! I love hanging out with these 2 girls because they are always so happy and positive, most importantly they don’t judge. 😀

So basically you just walked into Bay Hotel and go to the 11th floor.

Here we are! We came right after the lush event at Vivocity and it was already full house. :/ We missed the good seats. 2

Check out the view! 3

It is super chill here man, you should totally come here with your friends. 4

There were alot of couples too. 5

And as usual, here’s the menu for your reference! 6

I ordered the classic mojito and both of them had beers! 9

And ordered buffalo wings x2, truffle fries and calamari rings! 11

I highly recommend the buffalo wings! The calamari rings were too oily.

13Thank you girls for the wonderful night! I can’t wait to see you girls soon! ^^v

Gyoza-Ya at Paragon Shopping Centre review!

I’m sure you heard of Gyoza-Ya. If you haven’t, It’s fine. I first saw it from a FB sponsored post and I really really really wanted to try it. I mean I really love Gyoza so when there’s a shop that calls himself Gyoza….Ya? That’s pretty much the deal.

It was during our staycation at Quincy’s Hotel (click to read and watch the video!) and we were so hungry because the moment you stepped into the hotel room, you just want to spend as much time as possible inside. So since we were lazy and the hotel is only minutes away from Orchard Road we decided to pop by Paragon to see what we can have for lunch and dinner.

Initially we were looking for a cheaper alternative in a mall full of atas brands. But well its raining outside so we’re not very keen to wander too far off along Orchard Road. While we were on our way to the Food Court, we walked pass Gyoza-Ya and I’m overcame by my spontaneity.

A Japanese themed decor selling what should’ve been an Chinese dish. Actually Chinese is the first who invented Gyoza right? And I have to say Chinese really makes good gyozas too!

So I ordered the Jya Jya men – Thick noodles with minced pork and special miso AND IT WAS SO GOOD. The noodles were thick and firm, some people might not like it especially Simon but I really love it because it was so good to chew on! IMG_0247

Simon had the Truffle Ramen and I could see from his face that he regretted his choice. I mean compared to my noodles, mine looks way better. lol!

We also ordered Gyoza because obviously! 😀

And now check out my noodles after mixing everything together, it looks so healthy and tastes delicious! IMG_0252As for the truffle ramen, he was glad that he added the tamago otherwise it would be quite normal. The egg really makes alot of difference. I also tried the truffle ramen and I couldn’t really taste the truffle.

And lastly, the gyozas were pretty good! They have gyozas in different flavours too so you should really go try them out!

Go check out the menu too!

eGrill and Piza at The Cathay, Pizza, Ramen and Skewers!

I got to admit that I get bored easily. And I get motivated and excited when I start on something new or whatever it is. Food? Not so. But I still love trying new restaurants every now and then.

Before eGrill and Piza/Pizza, it was either a ramen or sushi restaurant. When we realized it had changed into a ‘pizza place’ we go WOW SOMETHING NEW HAVE TO TRY! But the truth is we got bored of eating at the same old few places already..

We were thinking if Pizza is okay for lunch until we walked over to the menu displayed just outside the restaurant and we were surprised when we saw ramen on their menu.

Since there are other options, we decided to try out the restaurant, anyway it was $9.80++ for the lunch set only! Consisting a main, a skewer, a side and a drink!

And here’s the menu for your reference! 3A68681F-5DD8-4D08-B197-09E3DADFEAD8

All of us ordered the ramen set except for Jaq who had the Hawaiian pizza.

There were 3 different ramen, the Spicy Tonkotsu, the Original Tonkotsu and the Sesame Tonkotsu. I remembered taking the Original but I could be having the Spicy one too. Anyway we thought the ramen was not bad but I personally felt that the noodles could be improved a little bit more. Like maybe a little more firm? I don’t know I like firm noodles. Alot. A9088AFC-409A-4DC3-933B-10FB2098EC86

For our sides, we had the potato salad, breaded button mushroom and gyozas.

And the skewers we ordered tandoori chicken, teriyaki chicken and probably salmon belly too (can’t remember). 56632F1A-F498-4839-8ABE-F4A6E8366FDD

The breaded mushroom! 0180A6C2-EA09-4709-AA74-5A0BD9B669DC

And the gyoza!

I really like their skewers. I think it’s grilled to perfection. I had my teriyaki chicken, safe choice and it was very tender and nice. My ex colleagues had good reviews on the other skewers too so I believe the skewers are definitely the must try! B5E25C78-B3DE-449D-99E6-BA682D7C7D0EAnd here’s the Hawaiian Pizza, thin crust and slightly charred. If I had known it would be charred I would have order this! Looks really good right?

Overall I am quite happy with the place. Cozy place plus comfort food. Great place to have lunch with your colleagues.

Go give them a visit!

I love to snack P5: Mama Cup Noodle, Swiss roll, Mee Sua and more!

For someone who wants to maintain her weight I actually really snack alot. But snacks make me happy and I believe they make you happy too! 😀

So first one I have this seaweed peanuts from Porippy. I felt that it’s a little sweet and would taste alot better if wasabi is added. 😛

2. Koko krunch in ‘protein bar’ form. This is really addictive. I can’t remember where I got this from. It’s impossible to stop at one! 2

3. Pocky but mango flavour. I think Daphy got this from Bangkok for us. It tasted like mango and although not bad I still think the chocolate is the best. 3

4. Rich & Good Cake Shop – swiss roll 5

I think ah.. I also forget already but this should be mango and coffee. I really love the swiss rolls from Rich and Good. They have the best swiss rolls in Singapore! Okay lah olive bakery’s one also not bad but the Kaya and Coffee from Rich & Good cake shop really very nice leh!

5. Timtam! Australia got so many different flavours and the Espresso Martini really super shiok. The blackforest also not bad too but they are really super sweet.

6. This fish flavoured egg roll from Taiwan.

I can’t figure out the brand but it has a very unique taste to it. Egg roll but with fishy taste. Lol I know it sounds weird but I find it very nice!

7. Waffle from Gelare!

I finally tried the waffle and icecream at Gelare and I think it’s really really good! I don’t need to run to Creamier to get my waffle craving fixed already! 9

8. Butlers Chocolate – The Dessert Menu. The chocolates are so delicate and pretty, I can’t bring myself to eat them! 11

I ended up eating them anyways and really like them. I got this from Melbourne and it’s about 20+aud.

9. Sweets 12

I’m sure this looks familiar to you. I usually eat the grape one but decided to try the melon and green grapes. Recently I also bought the peach one and I think I like the melon the best! 13

10. Mama Cup noodles – Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum. Not sure if you can get this here but this is from Indonesia. We usually crack one egg into our cup noodles and the egg with the creamy soup base is just awesome! 1415

Super shiok!!

11. Ke Kou Wei Plaza Singapura 16

Sorry Shi Lin, I think I prefer the mee sua and chicken from Ke Kou Wei!  I feel so hungry looking at the photos now.  17

12. Brown sugar cookie from Cold Storage 18

kinda addictive but very fast ‘lao hong’.

13. Black pepper crab flavour nissin potato chips. I think the tom yum one is nicer! 19

14. CORNTOZ! So old school man! I remember eating this when I was young and it is so hard to find them now! 21

And that’s all for today! Let me continue in another post. 😀

Share with me your fav snacks too!
