For those who know me, it won’t come as a surprise that I love to eat. I get excited by the mere thought of indulging in good food and it doesn’t help that my boyfriend is such a foodie too! (haha) But early last year, I started being more open minded and that decision has broadened my horizons, exposing me to many things I never knew I’d try, even till today! So when I had the opportunity to embark on a three-day detox programme with Expressions, I took a leap of faith and thought ‘why not?’. Here’s my take:
Honestly, I don’t have an issue with my body weight – never have. Why? I personally believe that as long as you eat healthily and exercise regularly, life is too short to go on a diet. But with my new found love for trying all things new, I thought this could be a fun challenge.
Now I’m not going to sugar coat this for you – this program is not for the weak. As easy as popping a few supplement pills and drinking a concoction of maple syrup, water and lemon juice sounds, for a foodie like me, it was TOUGH. We were warned that we might experience side effects from the sudden change in diet and I felt them. During detoxification, one may experience body aches, headaches, nausea, irritability, fatigue and other flu-like symptoms. However, these symptoms merely reflect that the body is in the cleansing process. For me, headaches and dizziness were an on-off thing for about two days! I guess it varies from person to person but it is important to understand that these symptoms are positive even though they can be unpleasant at times! I would recommend doing this detox over the weekend so as to not let it affect your performance or mood at work (sooooo unprofessional…)
Interested to know more? Well, this 3-day Detox programme consists of a liquid diet of fresh lemon juice, distilled water and pure maple syrup (the maple syrup is very rich in essential minerals). It is recommended that you drink at least three litres of distilled water, mixed with 2/3 of maple syrup per day. This wasn’t a problem because it was delicious! Complete the process by taking the right amount of herbal formula supplements to expedite cleansing! It is, however, very important to note that the Detox programme is not a three-day programme without solid food, but rather a substitute to our normal diet with supplements that will help cleanse our bodies. Fruits and vegetables are allowed so go ahead and eat some though consuming meat items during this detox programme is highly discouraged as they are harder to digest and will affect the results.
The advantages from detoxing with Expressions is that you could lose up to 3kg. I lost half a kilo, tummy was slightly firmer after the three days (as seen in photo) so there should not be any major harmful side effects. However, if you wish to detox on your own, please don’t exceed 14 days. Furthermore, if you have existing medical conditions, it’s always recommended that you consult your doctor before starting any type of diet. Pregnant and nursing mothers are strictly prohibited from this programme too!
**For the intermediate diet-ers, Expressions also runs a Master Cleansing Programme that caters to users who regularly undergo the detoxification process. This is strictly a “No Solid Food” but with a “Liquid” diet instead for the three days. Expressions’ wellness consultants will be working closely with customers on this programme to monitor their progress on daily basis. Details on their physical well-being such as weight and body fat index are also recorded daily for supervision so as to ensure the maximum effectiveness of the program. Sign up if interested!
