[Review] Vichy Normaderm Range

photo 4

I was invited by Vichy Laboratories to try out their No. 1 oil-control moisturizer in Singapore. – the Normaderm Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care. I first tried out this brand in 2009 and loved it. I still have an entry dated 2011 for a review for their Normaderm range, please check it out HERE.

photo 1So I was given these 2 products to try. The one on the left is the ever so popular, best-selling Vichy Normaderm Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care. It’s a moisturizer that is suitable for Asian sensitive skin. If you have troubled skin and suffer from breakouts often, then you should give this a try. It fights against imperfections, mattifies long-lastingly and hydrates for 24 hours.

photo 2

It has a light texture that is absorbed almost immediately when it is spread across the skin. The fresh scent is a plus point for me, serves as a great perk me up in the mornings. You could also use this in the evening as well. The best I guess was that I didn’t feel a thing on my skin after applying. It is that light! There was no sticky nor heavy after-feel. I think guys would appreciate this moisturizer.

I sleep in an air-conditioned room and I was delighted to see that my skin still looked hydrated in the morning after. So despite it being light-weight and all, the Vichy Normaderm Tri-Activ Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care did not compromise on the results it had promised.

The other product which I was given was the Normaderm Hyaluspot, a fast acting targeted spot care with hyaluronic acid. Unlike most pimple creams which may be too harsh for sensitive skin, the Vichy Normaderm’s one is specially tailored for sensitive skin. So you need not worry about a bad reaction or excessive drying and peeling.

It has a gel-like texture that is slightly thicker than the Hydrating Care’s, however, it is absorbed quickly by the skin upon application. I hate to say this but I don’t have any pimples to test it on for now. Will update soon though once I manage to review it’s effectiveness.

2nd L’Oreal Warehouse Sale was DISAPPOINTING!

L’oreal warehouse sale was disappointing! Previous sale was soooo much better!!!
Majority of the items were the same….
Except for the ONE table infront of the entrance selling Vichy, LRP & Skinceutical items.
Price ranged from $5 to $40.
Heard that most of the popular Vichy stuff were sold out within 1st hour of sale.

Skinceutical serum expiring in Sept 09 going for $10.
Surprised to see it almost sold out, but you should know that for most beauty products, they tend to lose their effectiveness especially when nearing expiry date.
Don’t think I’ll wanna waste $10 on that even though it’s retail price is probably many times more.

The table from previous sale which had the GWP makeup pouches and bags was gone too.
Only spotted one makeup pouch on sale at $5 each.

I saw the handy Star Secret Kit going at $10 but only 1 design available.
The really chio smokey eye look one which I bought from the previous sale was SOLD OUT.
Maybelline mineral blushers now slashed to $10 each instead of $12.50 from the previous sale.

What I can remember for the pricing:

Vichy sunscreens $10-15
LRP items $10-35
Skinceautical $5 to $60

Maybelline Cosmetics Mostly 2 for $10 or $10 each!!!
– Eyeshadow palettes $10
– Angelfit Dream Mousse Blusher 2 for $10
– other blushers at 2 for $10
Mascaras 2 for $10
– Maybelline Unstoppable eyeliner 2 for $10
– Watershine collage, essence, lipstick, Moisture Shine 4 for $20
– Maybelline Mineral Foundation 2 for $25
– Maybelline Mineral Blusher $10

L’oreal Cosmetics
– MU Palette (3 e/s, 1 blush & 1 lip color) $10
– Mineral blush 2 for $15
– E/S palettes $10
– Undereye Concealer $10

L’Oreal Skincare
– Their anti-aging range in white & gold for women above 50 is going at $15-20
– Loreal spot corrector/sunblock spf 15 lotion/anti-wrinkle thingy $8
– Derma Genesis Day Cream + cleanser set $20
– Derma Genesis Night Cream $15
– Nail Polish 3 for $10

Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Care Review

Where to buy? Watsons
How much? $49

I got the sample in the GLOW Watsons goodie bag & now I finally have
the chance to try this out.
Since previously, I did not have the fate in meeting the sickening Vichy SA
who works from 10AM-6.30PM only (According to Guardian staff) to grab hold of
a sample.

Anyway, it’s said to “Transforms the skin within 4 weeks. Resorbs blemishes. Tightens pores. Evens out the complexion.”

Sounds promising, doesn’t it?

Ingredients : Zincadone A (keratolytic glycolic acid + anti-bacterial glycadone + Dermostim). Astringent witch hazel. Vichy Thermal Spa Water.

That isn’t the full list, it also contains alcohol denat; 3rd on the ingredient list.

Alcohol aside, I think this is a pretty good basic moisturiser.
Perhaps the reason why my skin is zit-free so far is also probably due to it?

Firstly, it smells great (to me at least) and reminds me of my Bio-essence Tanaka White Renewal Day Cream. The consistency is just right, it is not as thick or heavy as other creams nor is it watery (Think Dermalogica’s Active Moist) but it’s light and a tad bit gel-like. Probably something similar to ZA‘s Dewy Effect Creamy Gel.

Since it’s light, hence, it is easily absorbed by the skin and leaves your face
feeling sufficiently hydrated. There is no stickiness experienced after application.
It has superb oil control because I could see that my T-zone stayed oil-free almost the whole day.

I’ve been using it for 3 days only. Shall monitor further and update this entry soon. I do hope to see my skintone even out with the help of it.

UPDATES as of 12 May 2009

A great basic moisturizer worth trying. It has not caused any breakouts on me and
has been keeping my usually oily T-zone pretty oil-free.
