Seoul Day 1-3 (Myeongdong, Express Bus Terminal, Nami Island, Petite France & N Seoul Tower)

The Seoul trip last month was kind of impromptu and I had only bqooked tickets and accommodation a month before so it was pretty pricey but the chance to just escape from all the crap down here was simply too alluring. And there was no regrets at all though travelling with the little one was really quite a headache.

Myeongdong

Our hotel was right smack in Myeongdong, also known as the beauty shopping street because there are so many skincare and cosmetic shops around. Here you can find Etude House, Innisfree, The Face Shop, Nature Republic, Olive Young and the list goes on. Many K-beauty fanatics like to come here to shop for their beauty supplies, which is probably cheaper only if you buy in bulk. However, with the convenience of online shopping, I can noticed that I could easily get the same items from online platforms such as Qoo10 which ships from Korea at around the same price too. So shopping wasn’t exactly a top priority for me this trip.

The Face Shop’s Raspberry Roots 1st Million Special Anniversary

On Saturday night, I was at 1-Altitude to attend The Face Shop’s Raspberry Roots 1st Million Special Anniversary, along with June.

The Raspberry Roots series is a hot favorite among TFS fans and I have heard so much raves about it, especially the sleeping mask. Did you know that the Raspberry fruit is bursting with antioxidants, thus, it is full of skincare benefits and anti-aging properties.

[Review] The Face Shop Aura Color Control CC Cream SPF30 PA++

So I was given this from The Face Shop to try out. And upon opening the beautiful press kit (yes, kudos to you marketing team for such a pretty box), I was quite stunned to see a compact instead of the usual CC cream in a tube.

The Face It Aura CC Cream comes in the form of a compact case complete with a face sponge and mirror.

There is a tab that you press down to get the CC cream out. And I was in for yet another surprise; this was a skin tone shade CC cream! I had been reviewing other CC Creams previously and all were whitish in color. So I was really psyched about trying this one out.

I was given the one in 02 Natural Beige to try which I presume is one of the most commonly used shades or so I’d been told.

Anyway, I tried using it with the given sponge but I was not used to that. Thus, giving up eventually and ended up using my fingers instead. It has a creamy texture (like a BB cream) that goes on smoothly and best of all, it becomes matt rather instantly. I did not even have to apply loose powder. It felt just right on my skin.

So you know how some BB creams can still appear too light for my somewhat tanned skin tone? This surprisingly blended pretty well. And because it had a beige tone, it gave me the coverage that I needed. I believe the Face It Aura CC Cream is one of the CC Creams in the market that comes with the highest coverage. As you can see, it did quite a good job of covering up my broken capillaries (those tiny red veins on my cheeks).

I also like the fact that it comes with SPF30 and PA++ so I can skip my sunscreen when using this. Some might like the compact packaging because it is easy to carry around even if you do not want to bring your whole cosmetic pouch along. The mirror in the compact comes in real handy when you can’t find a powder room to touch up.

You can check the Face It Aura CC Cream out at all The Face Shop outlets :)

[Review] The Face Shop Make Up Tool Eyelash Glue

This wasn’t a planned purchase but because I had absent-mindedly forgotten to pack my makeup pouch with me on my trip to Cebu. And apparently, the Pinoys are so blessed with long lashes, they do not need false eyelashes like me. So it was really difficult to find eyelash adhesive over there until I chanced upon The Face Shop. My first few false eyelashes were from TFS as they were pretty and rather reasonably-priced.

Anyway, let’s get back to the eyelash glue. It was very very cheap in Cebu though I’m not sure how much it retails for in Singapore. And I think a little goes a long way for this nifty tube, its nozzle isn’t that big like Ardell’s so it won’t spill and cause a mess. So it’s very worth the money spent!

What I liked best was that it was super sticky, so if you did not apply your lashes properly and there’s a slight gap between the lash bone and your eyelid. All you needed to do was to press gently and it would just stick on like as though you just applied fresh glue. I know certain brands can’t do this trick at all. You would need to apply a new coat of glue just to get it to stick but not for the TFS eyelash glue.

However, it’s pro turns into its only con too as being that sticky meant removal wasn’t going to be a breeze. I would still say this is a decent eyelash glue but it certainly doesn’t top my list. I mean, I won’t mind using it if I did not have any other options.
