Blistex Deep Renewal Lip Protectant

I received something interesting to try out recently. It’s anti-aging lip balm; presenting the Blistex Deep Renewal Lip Protectant!

Deep Renewal is the anti-aging lip treatment that’s clinically proven to reduce visible signs of aging, deliver superb moisturization, and promote lasting lip health and vitality with consistent use.

This is the latest addition to my makeup pouch. We’ve heard of creams and even pills when it comes to anti-aging. But this is the first time I’ve come across an anti-aging lip balm. Especially since we tend to neglect our lips so often in our quest to look youthful. But if you have got sun-damaged, discolored and wrinkly lips, how good can you look?

It contains –

Coenzyme Q-10 – the gold standard for moisturization and overall revitalization

Hyaluronic Filling Spheres – help give lips a fuller appearence

Vitamin – Collagen Anti-oxidant Complex – promotes lasting lip health

Light-refractors – contribute to improving lips’ luster and youthfulness

Sun Protection – SPF 15 helps protect against sun damage that can accelerate the aging process

Upon application, it moistens your lips and diminishes the appearence of fine lines and wrinkles. Lips look moisturized and radiance. After 24hours of usage, it would reduce the level of damaging free radicals.Within 4 weeks of usage, you would be able to notice a reduction in the number and depth of fine lines and wrinkles. Awesome, right?

Grab yours now at only S$12.50 a stick, available at Guardian, John Little, Robinsons, Sasa & Watsons.

Plucker up with Kisstixx® Lip Balms

Forget chocolate or the whipped cream this Valentine’s day. Instead, while planning for a wild night of making out. Don’t forget to pack your lip balms. And yes, you read me correctly. However, these ain’t any ordinary lip balms but Kisstixx® Lip Balms. And here’s my pair… yes, they come in a pair. One for you and the other for your lover.

Check out the other pairings available at Zalora.sg such as Fire & Ice, Raspberry & Lemonade and Strawberry Daiquiri & Pina Coldad.

Kisstixx® Lip Balms were made specially for kissing. When your lips lock, these flavors combine to create a chemical reaction that’s bursting with flavors and aroma, leaving both of you desiring for more.

The sweet one reminded me of cinnamon while the sour one had a distinct apple scent. And because my hubby is overseas as I’m typing this blog post, I have no one to try it out with. So I applied the sweet lip balm on first and then the sour one to stimulate the end result after a kiss. Licked my lips a little after that because I just couldn’t resist it.

I hate to admit but it actually tastes good. Seriously, who eats/licks their lip balm =_= Gosh… I’m so ashamed of myself but before you think of me as a freak. You should really try it out for yourself.

I mean, it’s some really fun stuff. And if you are looking to surprise your other half with something sweet and fun to do. Why not grab a pack? They’re selling 2 pairs for SGD19.00 at Zalora.sg These lip balms also come with SPF15 which is really cool because we often neglect our lips when it comes to sun protection.

[Giveaway] L’oreal White Perfect Laser, even better than IPL?

Recently, I attended a blogger event with June by L’oreal where they made a bold claim; that their latest L’oreal White Perfect Laser whitening skincare range had proven clinical results which resemble the aftermath of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).

Don’t mind my sickly, pasty white face as I was down was a bad flu and nearly forgotten all about this event till I got the reminder from L’oreal.

Check out the stars of the night:

Left to right; White Perfect Laser Anti-Spot Brightening Essence (S$39.90) and the All-Round Whitening Cream SPF19/PA+++ (S$32.90)

We all know that IPL as a popular though pricey method to whiten the skin. Others go for vitamin C drips which are also not very friendly on the pocket, costing a few hundreds a go. With the L’oreal White Perfect Laser, fairer and brighter skin seems achievable in a more affordable manner.

Details on how to WIN a L’oreal Youth Code Boosting Essence (S$39.90) & UV Perfect sunscreen SPF 30 PA+++ (S$17.90) under the cut…

Less is more when it comes to caring for the skin?

There are people who hardly do anything to their skin and still achieve such glowing complexion. Just what is their secret? Sure, alot of factors do play a part like diet and good genes.

However, sometimes the key to achieving great-looking skin is much simpler than we have thought it to be. Of course, it’s difficult to believe that since we are often bombarded by the media on how our skincare regime should be like. If you happen to have a complicated and long skincare regime that works for you, it’s fine. Afterall, it’s also really up to one’s preference.

Anyway, let’s take a look at a handful of simple tips which can help with achieving the skin you desire.

#1 – Be gentle with your skin

One thing I swear by for years is just rinsing my face in the morning with just water. I do not use a cleanser and just tap water only. Some people tend to overcleanse and this strips the skin off its natural oils. If you need to do daily scrubs, find one that is mild enough for daily usage.

Another great tip would be to limit your shower time, you can save water and your utility bills at the same while also saving your skin from getting its nature oil stripped off too. Hot baths are also a culprit so try to take warm baths or showers instead.

#2 – Sun Protection

I know this has been emphasized and repeated many times but sun protection is extremely important. Sun exposure can cause a host of problems and photo damaged skin means wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven skin tone etc. It may also lead to skin cancer risks.

So never ever leave your house without applying sunscreen even though you are not going to have a fun day out on the beach. We are exposed to UVA andUVB lights everywhere, even indoors.

#3 – Don’t smoke or drink

Apart from being bad for your health, smoking isn’t great news for the skin either. It ages your skin and not only it gives you wrinkles but it also depletes the skin’s natural collagen and elastins. These fibres are essential for keeping the skin pumped and firm.

I guess social drinking is still fine since it’s recommended to have a glass of wine a day. However binge drinking is a no-no because alochol is severly dehydrating. And dehydrated skin will lead to a faster rate of aging, things are worst if you drink and smoke often. In fact, alcohol restricts the intake of vitamins and minerals that are essential for good skin.

So do not be surprised if you are often mistaken to be much older than your biological age if you are an active party animal.

Selecting the right sunscreen + recommendations

I know I’ve  blogged about this umpteen times but lest we take it for granted. It’s good to remember that sun protection is very important. Especially if you are heading out for some fun in the sun.

Or even if you are not and you would just be staying indoors at work or in the shopping malls. You should also remember to put on your sunscreen diligently as even though UVB is blocked by the glass windows but UVA can still reach you through the indoor lighting.

You should always get a sunscreen that would suit your needs. so what do we look for when shopping for me.

Firstly, we should take note of the terms used. Like SPF, it refers to Sun Protection Factor. Usually, you can do a rough estimation of how much SPF you need by multiplying it by 10.

Example : SPF 30 x 10 = 300 minutes of sun (5 hours)

However, that is taking in if you do not perspire  or are in the water. That is why it’s always recommended that you re-apply your sunscreen every 30 minutes if you are participating in outdoor activities.

In fact, even when you are indoors, your sunscreen could also be rubbed off by your clothing or hands. Hence, if you can, do re-apply every 1-2 hours.

Currently, the sunscreen in my makeup pouch is the one from BEBECO. Continue reading
