There are people who hardly do anything to their skin and still achieve such glowing complexion. Just what is their secret? Sure, alot of factors do play a part like diet and good genes.
However, sometimes the key to achieving great-looking skin is much simpler than we have thought it to be. Of course, it’s difficult to believe that since we are often bombarded by the media on how our skincare regime should be like. If you happen to have a complicated and long skincare regime that works for you, it’s fine. Afterall, it’s also really up to one’s preference.
Anyway, let’s take a look at a handful of simple tips which can help with achieving the skin you desire.
#1 – Be gentle with your skin
One thing I swear by for years is just rinsing my face in the morning with just water. I do not use a cleanser and just tap water only. Some people tend to overcleanse and this strips the skin off its natural oils. If you need to do daily scrubs, find one that is mild enough for daily usage.
Another great tip would be to limit your shower time, you can save water and your utility bills at the same while also saving your skin from getting its nature oil stripped off too. Hot baths are also a culprit so try to take warm baths or showers instead.
#2 – Sun Protection
I know this has been emphasized and repeated many times but sun protection is extremely important. Sun exposure can cause a host of problems and photo damaged skin means wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven skin tone etc. It may also lead to skin cancer risks.
So never ever leave your house without applying sunscreen even though you are not going to have a fun day out on the beach. We are exposed to UVA andUVB lights everywhere, even indoors.
#3 – Don’t smoke or drink
Apart from being bad for your health, smoking isn’t great news for the skin either. It ages your skin and not only it gives you wrinkles but it also depletes the skin’s natural collagen and elastins. These fibres are essential for keeping the skin pumped and firm.
I guess social drinking is still fine since it’s recommended to have a glass of wine a day. However binge drinking is a no-no because alochol is severly dehydrating. And dehydrated skin will lead to a faster rate of aging, things are worst if you drink and smoke often. In fact, alcohol restricts the intake of vitamins and minerals that are essential for good skin.
So do not be surprised if you are often mistaken to be much older than your biological age if you are an active party animal.
