A day as a Beauty Scene Investigator (B.S.I)

Last week, I had received an unexpected call. Something gruesome had happened! It appears that several beauty products were reported dead and the crime scene was a mess in Beauty County. So the special agents from Shiseido invited me over to check things out.

So first, the other BSIs and I had a briefing by Secret Agent, Samantha, on the happenings.

How do you tame that lion’s mane?

Do you have unruly, messy hair that’s untamed each morning you wake? Then fret not, for you are not alone!

I used to wish for sleek, straight hair and thus, the numerous rebonding sessions I have made my hair put up with. However, now, I actually prefer a slight wave in my hairstyle so that it looks more natural instead of ruler-straight.

If there’s one thing I could change about my hair, it would be to have really soft and luscious locks.  You see I have really thick hair so it’s much more difficult to maintain. And it is badly damaged too due to the chemical treatments it has undergone. So if I could have hair like those in the shampoo ads, it would be a dream come true!

Anyway, just thought I shared some tips on solving some hairy woes.

[REVIEW] Dove Damage Therapy Intense Repair Shampoo & Conditioner

I got these travel-sized samples as a gift with purchase of a magazine. I think it was Watson’s Glow but anyway, I never got the chance to try it till my recent business trip.

According to Dove, hair can be damaged on the inside as well as the outside, making it weak, porous and therefore more prone to breakage and splitting. This shampoo contains patented micro moisture serum and strengthens and nourishes hair from root to tip. Fiber actives deeply penetrate porous hair to help reconstruct it from within. This weightless formula leaves hair strengthened and resistant to future damage without weighing it down.

So the benefits of using this shampoo?

[REVIEW] Tsubaki Shining & Damage Care Hair Products Range

I got these from Shiseido previously but have yet to try it out till recently.
What is special about these hair care range is the special ingredient; camellia oil.
Camelia oil has been used in Japan for generations to soften, smooth, and protect the hair and skin.
The red camellia flower is celebrated throughout Japan for its beauty and its extremely high quality oils, rich in oleic and linoleic acid, which are readily absorbed by skin and hair.

Shiseido Tsubaki uses the extract of the camellia raticulata seed to help rejuvenate overworked, listless, brittle hair. A fresh fragrance can be enjoyed by men and women, and is effective for thin and thick hair.

[REVIEW] Essential Makes Me A Hair-py Girl

The geniuses at Kao have come up with a new range of damage care hair products that have made me a very HAIR-py girl. Essential Damage Care promises to nourish & care for your damaged hair, even up to the last 15cm of it. Many trendy ladies in Singapore have damaged hair due to the constant chemical-treatments we make our hair put up with for the sake of looking good. Think rebonding, perming & dyeing…. But how can one look gorgeous if the end result will only be dry & badly damaged hair? Fried hair is so not sexy. Did you know that even regular styling and blow-drying will cause damage to hair?

Most of us would be no stranger to miserable hair issues such as split-ends, tangles and brittle hair. We may even resort to cutting off our hair which we have painstakingly tried to grow out for the past year just to get rid the damaged portions. But ladies plagued with such HAIR ISSUES, fret not! As Kao’s Essential range of Damage Care products will fix this problem for you!

They have two range of products depending on the hair finish you prefer:

Nuance Airy : For an Airy & Bouncy Look
Rich Premier : For a Smooth & Manageable Look

Thanks to the blogger campaign by Kao & The Sample Store , I was given both ranges to try out :)
Each range consists of a Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment, Hair Mask & Serum.

Do you have dry, damaged hair but oily scalp? [ Shampoo + Hair Mask Review ]

I’m cursed with dry, damaged hair but with an oily scalp. So most products I use will conflict with each other. Previously, I was trying out L’Oreal’s Elseve Damage Care shampoo for colored and damaged hair but it was too rich and ended up giving me flaky scalp or what’s more commonly known as dandruff.

The culprit – too nourishing for my scalp?

Rated: .5

I guess this would have worked well for those plauged with just dry and damaged hair.
Unfortunately, it did not work for me but still kudos for its effort, as it really moisturizes the hair tips and roots.
Just alittle too much for me though…

So I stopped using that and bought the Head & Shoulders Anti-dandruff shampoo targeted at getting rid of all the flakiness.

But it was too drying for my headful of ‘already close to resembling hay’ hair.
However, I must really give credit to the product for it worked in getting rid of the flakes though the dryness was causing my hair to tangle badly.

But I was not ready to give it up yet. Hence, instead of using a conditioner with it, I used the Sunsilk damaged hair reconstruction hair mask instead. And this is REALLY GOOD!!!

After washing my hair and letting it dry naturally on its own without using the hair mask would only result in what would resemble an abandoned bird nest after a volcanic eruption. Hair becomes so poofy aka “pong pong” and I totally hate it.

But with the hair mask, my hair is softer and more manageable. It settles down without much effort after drying naturally. Best of all, I saw it going for S$5.50 only at CK Department Store. I bet Ocean or those stores that sell cheaper toiletries at Chinatown are selling around that price too.

And the tub is gonna last you for a long while since a little really goes a long way.
I don’t know what I would be doing without it!

Bawang Natural Herbal Shampoo & Royal Wind Range

Thanks to Fr3b & Hannah Holdings, I was invited to a Bawang Bloggers Mini Discussion.

Most people find this an “aunty” brand and I am not surprised.
As like many, I do share the same perspective.
However, they have launched a new range ‘Royal Wind’ targeted at the younger crowd, with diva Faye Wong as the endorser.

There’re 4 products in this range; SMOOTH & SHINE for frizzy and dry hair, COOL & REFRESHING for itchy and dandruff prone scalp, OIL CONTROL for oily hair and STRENGTHENING & THICKNESS for fine & thin hair.

Bawang uses a variety of herbal ingredients in their products. Thus, the scents their shampoos give out tend to different from your normal chemical shampoos. Unfortunately, for the new range, I was only given the ‘STRENGTHENING & THICKNESS for fine & thin hair’ sample.

And since I am thankfully blessed with a thick mane, it didn’t come in handy for me.
I tried it and was slightly put off by the ginseng scent. However, it was bearable and did not find its way to the rubbish bin. I find it a little too rich for me, maybe cause I do have rather thick hair so I guess it will be too nourishing.

What I wanna try next is the anti-dandruff shampoo. I tend to get flakes whenever I use shampoo that is too rich for my scalp. Luckily, the ‘STRENGTHENING & THICKNESS for fine & thin hair’ shampoo did not cause any unwanted flakes.

Thanks to Bawang & Fr3b for the goodie bag.

I had given the anti-fall set to my girlfriend’s dad. He is a regular user of it, but I have yet to check with him on how he feels about this product.
I also passed the itchy scalp shampoo to my mom to try.
The anti-dandruff one has been sitting in a corner of my bedroom.
But fret not, I promise that I shall get down to trying it out soon and updating this entry.

Meanwhile, do go to Fr3b for your FREE Bawang samples.

Sample set includes:
2 Sample Packs Of Bawang Hair-strenghtening Shampoo
2 Sample Pack Of Bawang Anti-hair Fall Shampoo

Currently, the Royal Wind samples are probably not available yet.

I’m sure some of you have read about Bawang products containing cancer-causing agents in them. However, do note that the FDA have declared their products as safe.

As taken from the CHINA DAILY:

“The anti-hair-loss formula shampoo and its Royal Wind brand, produced by Guangdong-based herbal shampoo maker BaWang International Group, and that have been accused of containing the cancer-causing substance dioxane, are safe, the State Food and Drug Administration declared late Friday.

The administration said the amount of dioxins in samples of the alleged unsafe products would not cause harm to consumers’ health. Officials, however, would not disclose the detailed contents of the substance.”

Hence, you can be assured that it’s a safe product and continue to Fr3b for your FREE Bawang samples :)
