Blue Green Peekaboo Streaks In My Hair

Finally, I got to try something different for my hair this time round. Because I am no longer working, I can now take on colors which were previously frowned upon. I was recommended bluish-green peekaboo streaks in the under layers of my hair. Top it off with copper highlights around the crown and a dark base. I thought it was just right, something new and yet subtle.

First, I had a trim, I was told by my stylist, Ricky that I would be given more layers to bring out the peekaboo effect of the blue streaks. Next, the selected areas were bleached so that the blue color would set in easily.

I was given copper highlights around the top area and a darker base to make the colors pop. I was so used to having different shades of brown or red hair since I started dyeing my hair so I was really excited and anticipated the outcome of this dye job.

After rinsing off the dye, my locks were given a treatment that contained Moroccan Oil.

Moroccan oil is really good for hair, it rejuvenates and restores shine while keeping it moisturized. This was especially pampering for my hair since it just underwent a chemical treatment.

Check out the end results, I was really pleased to see more than just one shade of blue. The warm, emerald green added more character to the whole look. I’m really happy with the outcome. Ricky also had temporary curls done for me and my hair looks so pretty.

Time For A Change

I was too busy to get my hair done the past few months and only managed to find time this weekend to visit Salon De Choix. In a way, I should be thankful that my hair grows quite slowly so my natural roots ain’t very obvious. But having brown hair all the time was getting boring for me, I decided that it was time for a change.

image_3

My new stylist is Ricky, he was thinking about some funky styles for me. Unfortunately, due to my client-facing job nature, I am not allowed to have anything that is too groovy. We eventually settled with red. Because red is bright and yet not too loud. It’s gorgeous and looks good on me. Plus, I love red on my hair.

photo 2

So I had 3 different colors on my hair. The base was the same shade of brown I’m currently spotting, followed by a middle layer of red and then black for the bottom layers. Sounds interesting? Yes, this is a new technique which I’m experiencing for the first time.

Now, let me share a quick run through of the whole hair session process. Dye was applied to my hair and then left on for around 30mins. After this, I had it rinsed off. And yes, this is my favorite part of a pampering hair session at Salon De Choix. They have these incredible massager seats in the hair washing area are an indulgence for the tired out working mother I am. And that’s not all, the head massage by Ricky helped relieved some tension and made me enjoy my hair session even more.

Next, I had the argan oil hair mask treatment to moisturize my hair after the dye job. After the second rinse off, my hair was trimmed before it was blown dry.

For my color-treated hair, the stylist used the Kerastase Elixir Kultime to achieve rich texture in my colored locks, so that it reflects light and radiance. It’s lovely fragrance is inspired by Coco Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle. And as my hair has always been dry, the Rapid Repair Spray was used to provide more moisture. Now my hair feels so soft and smooth, I can run my fingers through without getting any tangles!

I am very pleased with the outcome. The colors looked great on their own but when put together, it created an even greater impact and the whole image is just simply gorgeous!

The top layer is brown, middle layer is red and the ends are black. Such contrasting colors which are edgy and yet still safe for work.

Hair Fix at Salon De Choix

It was time for my monthly hair fix and it was back to Salon De Choix. Being in a corporate client-servicing field, I could only play around with shades of brown, copper or red. I don’t think my boss or customers would be pleased if I started spotting a headful of pink or blonde. But that doesn’t mean that it has to be boring. Read on to find out how my stylist played around with the shades and created a new look for me.

As you can see, I’m served the drink of my choice and some biscuits in case I get hungry during the treatment. They even have cup noodles if you get really hungry or happened to skip a meal just to get your hair done. How thoughtful, right?

And then that’s me waiting for the color to set in.

After rinsing out the dye, I was treated to a hair mask which used Argan oil. It’s super moisturizing and nourishing for the hair especially after this chemical treatment.

Next, I was pampered with a relaxing head massage, one of my favorite highlights about having my hair done at Salon De Choix. And now, I shall unveil my new hair color….

Check out the end results:

This was done in the same way my CNY hair was done. I think the red was awesome but this brown was a refreshing change nevertheless.

The color isn’t as obvious in the below photo but check out the temporary curls I got before I left the salon. Really lovely, right?

A day as a HDB Taitai Wannabe

Today was a great, well-spent day where I got to run my errands and best of all, didn’t have to go to work. (OK, so I took leave). Anyway,Mocha had to go to the groomers and so did his mummy.

And where else would I head to but Salon De Choix, conveniently located at Winsland House 1. If you are driving, then you can park at the Orchard Central car park which offers one of the cheapest parking fees in town.

Some camhoring before heading to the salon…

I just had my hair colored a month back and the roots ain’t really showing. So I settled for a head massage & hair treatment today. The head massage included a treatment for sensitive scalp. All these chemical treatments like dyeing my hair have left my scalp rather red, angry-looking and ultra sensitive, so it was time to give it some good old loving. While the hair treatment nourished my tresses so that they were smooth and healthy-looking again.

The massage was so pampering, I nearly dozed off. After the massage from the hair oil with rose extract, I had my hair washed. And the massage that followed during the hair wash was so relaxing, I think I did really fall asleep for awhile.

The shampoo used (pictured above) was also specially suited for sensitive scalp. After the wash, I had a solution sprayed onto my scalp to soothe it. This was followed by the hair treatment with the Mythic Oil (as shown above).  Then followed by a 2nd hair wash to rinse off.

Finishing up, I had my hair styled into lovely curls, complete with the sweet-smelling Kerastase Elixir Ultime serum.

Back to Salon De Choix for A New Color!

I was so busy getting back on track that I didn’t have time to do my hair last month. So here I am again, back at Salon De Choix for a new hair color.

One of the current trends for hair color now is lighter shade on the top while the bottom is darker. It’s like the total opposite from previous seasons where there was much emphasis on flash or artificial hair color such as pastels or bright shades which you would never see in nature. Now, the trends are going back to nature, so picture this… all the healthy rich browns, reds, coppers and blondes.

So I got to try out this latest trend but in different colors… check it out:

So that’s why you see my hair is all bunched up in this below photo. It’s how my hair looks like after the top part of my hair is being separated in a four-leaf clover section.

As usual, I had a trim and hair treatment done too. My hair feels so much tidier and lighter now. I used to not go for trims but now I understand why regular trims are so important. When your hair grows, it can grow out of shape or your ends get so damaged and causes your whole hair to look really just messy and unkempt.

I had Argan oil added into my hair mask. If you have read my previous blog entries on Argan oil, you would know that this is the liquid gold from Morocco. It not only saved my tummy from stretch marks but it is also good for the hair. You can restore strength and shine in your hair with this miracle oil. After I had this hair mask done, my hair felt silky smooth and had no tangles at all. To end things off, Elein applied Shu Uemura’s Art of Hair products for me. The nourishing fragrance had a lovely vanilla scent!

Ok so LOOK AT MY HAIR!!!

I’m loving it soooooo much!!!

I think I look refreshed and neater now.

My hair is much more manageable and healthy-looking.

New Hair for the Chinese New Year

Once again, it’s my visit to Salon De Choix at Winsland House 1 for my monthly hair fix. This is how my hair looks like before the makeover.

If you recalled my Christmas Hair blog entry, I had the top part of my hair straightened with curls at the bottom. Also, from another past entry, my hair was dyed in a copper shade. With Chinese New Year round the corner, I was inspired to get red hair. So Elein suggested I did red highlights and a warm brown base.

And as usual, my favourite part of doing my hair at Salon De Choix is the pampering scalp massage I get. Did I also mention that they also have massage chairs at the wash area? I don’t think any other salons have this.

So are you ready for the unveiling of my new hairstyle?

TA-DA!

I’m like totally loving the red, it’s so gorgeous!!! Just check this out… red under layers that peek out of my warm brown base.

Beautiful, fiery & passionate RED! Love it to bits and won’t even mind if I had a whole hair of such a flaming red like Jee Choi of Asia’s Next Top Model.

Meanwhile, do go to Salon De Choix and LIKE their FACEBOOK Page. If you are planning to get your hair done for CNY, then do check out Salon De Choix, it’s located at 3 Killiney Road #01-06 Winsland House 1.

New Hairstyle for Christmas

I’m back from Salon De Choix with a new hair style and just in time for Christmas!

My hair was getting SHAPELESS and MESSY. I just simply could not stand the sight of it especially after seeing how it appeared in photos.

That’s me at an event with shapeless-looking hair. Defintely not party ready for the festive season. So initially I thought of just rebonding my hair straight but that might have been too boring since I used to rebond it all the time. In the end, I settled for a perm at the ends while the top part gets rebonded for a tidier look.

After the chemical solution for rebonding is applied, it is then given some time to settle in. After a wash, out comes the straightening iron!

This is the portion where my curls would begin from.

The rollers are added on for the curling effect.

The hair is then left for awhile to let the chemical solution settle in.

It was lunch time so I had a cup noodle. Salon De Choix has cup noodles for customers that end up staying in the salon for a long duration due to their hair treatments or services.

Once the solution has settled in then it’s time for a wash, I must say I really enjoy the lovely massage Elein gave me. And did I mention that their seats have a built-in massager!?! This is great for those who go for long duration hair treatments such as rebonding where you have to sit for a few hours.

Next, my hair gets pampered with a protein mask!

Elein blow dries my hair with this unique add-on feature to the hair dryer. For you ladies who have curls and have no time in the morning to blow your hair with a brush. Then this would come in very handy! Just dump your hair in like as shown in the photo and let this nifty little apparatus work its magic. This can also be bought at the salon. It gives you lovely curls in just minutes! Amazing, right?

So I get my fringe trimmed into bangs. Why? Because I had to change my parting as it was starting to bald around that area. But my fringe was too stubborn and no matter how I comb my hair, it just won’t budge from the old parting. So I decided to just go for bangs then no need to worry about the parting and balding.

This is how my hair looked like once I was done. If you find this too curly or OTT, no worries. These are really very natural curls. I could just wash my hair and blow dry without curling it for a more natural and relaxed look.

If I tousle the bottom, it breaks out into these more natural-looking, loose curls which are really pretty and kind of Korean inspired. I really, really love my new hair do now. It’s like a new me for a new 2013!

Pampering Hair Session at Salon De Choix

I’m excited to share that I just had my hair done. Situated conveniently in town at Winsland House 1, Salon De Choix offers a range of services which will solve all your hair woes.

Upon reaching the salon, I was warmly greeted and offered a seat. A drink of my choice & some biscuits were provided. My stylist, Elein Chong then started recommending me ideas for my hair. Dip-dyes are kind of passé now, but instead of moving away from it totally. The techniques are softened to give a more subtle look. Elein suggested that I try a graduation of tones from dark to something brighter in a copper shade.

Model rocking the Bridget Bardot inspired look

This is one of the trending shades for Autumn/Winter 2012 from the retro nouveau color collection inspired by the style of Bridget Bardot. Copper being a sensual & fiery shade like the iconic lady herself. Furthermore, this was suitable for work as well. Knowing that I was in good hands, I went along with her suggestion and I couldn’t wait for the end result.

But first, I was given a much needed hair cut because I’ve probably not trimmed my hair in ages. Just look at the pathetic state of my hair before we begin.  After almost a year of neglect (due to my pregnancy), my hair was screaming out for attention. Not only were my roots were showing, it was almost half of my entire hair length. Also, my hair felt tangled and dry, it was pretty much awful.

Check out the amount of hair cut, I have a headful of really thick hair that was weighing it down. So a little thinning would the do the trick. Next, the dye job begins. As my natural hair was raven black and stubborn, it took awhile for the color to show despite using heat.

After this, I had my hair washed and I must rave about the massage chairs they have! Even the hair wash was a pampering session where I could relax in.

Next,my hair was diagnosed and here’s the verdict:

It’s NORMAL, STRONG & THICK, can you believe it? I thought my hair was dry like hay. As you can see, my recommended prescription would be the Kerastase range for color-treated hair. So I was treated to this Kerastase treatment, it consists of the shampoo, fusio dose treatment & mask.

The Fusio-Dose treatment consists of a booster which contains Polyphenols and Ionium that provides anti-oxidative action to protect colored hair. The combination of this booster & the highly concentrated formula treatment would give your hair color an immediate radiance.

And the next step is my favorite because this treatment mist smells so good! Presenting the Kerastase Elixir Ultime!

For color-treated hair, this mist promotes rich texture in your colored locks, so that it reflects light and radiance. Its lovely fragrance is inspired by Coco Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle.

Now, you must be curious about how the end result looks like. Check it out!

Here’s a BEFORE & AFTER photo:

Can you see how smooth & silky my hair is now after the Kerastase treatment?

My hair looks transformed!!! And here’s a lovely photo of the stylist responsible for this wonderful job. Elein & me!
