I’ve always been bothered about these skin colored bumps on my face and going for a facial would always be a nightmare because of all the different kinds of diagnosis the helpful therapists would offer. I had been told that I had milia seeds, skin tags and even enlarged sweat glands (syringomas). However, I decided that the best person to consult on what’s invading my face would be an aesthetic doctor, someone with a medical background whom I could entrust my face with.
I made an appointment to see Dr Ivan Tan at Nu.Reflections clinic. Why Dr Tan? Well, he has 14 years of experience and specialized qualifications in dermatology. Dr Tan’s friendly demeanor made me at ease even though I was initially nervous. I could ask all the questions I wanted to without feeling silly. After examining my face, Dr Tan told me that these were warts.
A wart is a skin growth caused by some types of the virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infects the top layer of skin, usually entering the body in an area of broken skin. The virus causes the top layer of skin to grow rapidly, forming a wart. Now, other than looking unsightly, the scary thing about these warts was that they could easily spread by direct contact with a human papillomavirus. You can infect yourself again by touching the wart and then touching another part of your body.
Now after learning about that, I was very certain that I had to have them removed. Dr Tan recommended removal of the warts through Radio Cautery. This is a procedure where radiowaves are used to vaporise the lesions on the skin. It can be used to remove warts, skin tag, moles and other skin growth. Continue reading
