Happy Labour Day! Check out May’s Vanity Trove

It’s the 1st of May! Happy Labour Day, folks. And in conjunction with this lovely Public holiday, I’m excited to share with you what’s inside the May’s edition of Vanity Trove. This is my 2nd box so far and I’m really happy with this month’s loot.

photo (3)What caught my eye the most was this cute little sheet mask.. OMG…

photo (5)

It’s a beauty facial sheet mask that could be left overnight. It’s a first for me I think… I’ve not tried any leave-on sheet masks before. Anyway, there’s this sticker on the back promoting a boutique spa called GO60 which offers 1 transparent flat fee for all services and products*. Isn’t that interesting?

I’m glad I got to learn about this new place through this month’s Vanity Trove box. The spa won’t be opened till June. Oh well, I might go check it out and yes, I’ll be trying out the mask once I’m done blogging tonight.

I’m elated to also spot the Aqua Rine Bath Salts which I absolutely adore. These bath salt scrubs are not only reasonably-priced but also super indulging. Included in this month’s box are the Peach & Rose scented ones. Lovely!

Another interesting product worth a mention would be the SebaMed Feminine Intimate Wash. I really just can’t emphasize how much but personal hygiene down south is sooooo important. And making sure you get the right wash is just as vital, because we don’t want something too harsh to upset the natural pH balance down over  at that sensitive area. But I’m sure SebaMed is a trusted brand name when it comes to dealing with sensitivity.

Last but not least, I’m totally digging the Bach original flower remedies RESCUE pastilles in Blackcurrent (my fav flavor for lozenges). This could not be any more timely because my throat was starting to act up and itch. So seriously, these are a life savers for me. And I’ve never heard or seen this brand around before too.

Which makes me glad to know that I have Vanity Trove to bring me these items and brand names which I would have otherwise missed out on.

Envious? Want to own a Vanity Trove too? Check out www.VanityTrove.com for more details. For S$25 a month, you’ll get to receive the troves hand-delivered to you and enjoy the beautiful surprises within it. :)

[REVIEW] Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Skincare Range

The Sample Store is Love, thanks to them & Eucerin, I got to sample out their latest offering:
Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Skincare Range

This sponsored set consists of the cleanser, scrub & moisturizer.
What’s so special about Eucerin DermoPURIFYER?
Firstly, it contains natural ingredient; Lactic Acid that is more gentle to the skin as compared to Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Oxide. It is able to reach deep into the pores where the acne originates and targets specifically the affected areas without drying out the rest of the skin. So one won’t have to deal with redness, dryness or flaking skin in this case.

[REVIEW] Bebeco Skin Care Range from Korea

A Beauty Affair is proud to share with her readers about another HOT Korean brand, Bebeco, that is currently available in Singapore. Did you know what does the brand name Bebeco stands for?
Well, I certainly didn’t and I thought that this was rather cute.

Bebeco = “BEtter BEauty COsmetic”

Bebeco carries a wide variety of skin care products that are highly popular in Korea and now, even in Singapore. Their range of skincare also incorporates natural ingredients such as Orange Vitamins and Plant Hormone in their skin care range. Sounds interesting, doesn’t it?

Thanks to Bebeco, I was given a number of products to try out. I told them about my skin concerns; blackheads, uneven skin tone and dryness on the cheeks. And I was introduced to this skincare regime which is like a DIY Facial Routine. Something one can try at home and save money at the same time instead of splurging hundreds at facial salons.

The DIY Facial Routine will allow one to achieve an effect that is similar to what one gets at the facial salon.
It consists of the following products:

Step 1: Real Perfect Cleansing Gel
Step 2: Plant Vita Foam Cleanser
Step 3: Perfect Peeling Gel
Step 4: Strawberry Yogurt Mask Pack

Hada-Labo Cleanser – SHA Hydrating Face Wash

Hada-Labo is a skincare range from Japan.
It’s currently now exclusively available at Watsons stores.

Fr3b & Haba-Labo were so kind to send me their products to try out & review.
If you wish to try them out for yourself, do get the FREE SAMPLES by clicking on the picture below:

I’ve just tried their cleanser so this review will be solely on that product only.
This SHA Hydrating Face Wash contains Super Hyaluronic Acid to help restore and preserve skin’s nature moisture.

Firstly, the cleanser has no fragrance.
I could not really smell anything except for a light, faint scent which I can’t seem to describe. The texture was creamy and rich.

And it foams up pretty much so just a tiny bit will do.
After lathering, I found that my face feels clean and soft to touch.
Unlike some cleansers in the market, it did not make my face feel taut and too tight due to it being too drying.
The SHA Hydrating Face Wash is really gentle on the skin and I think those with sensitive skin can try it out.

I’ll continue using it for the rest of the week.

Meanwhile, do drop by Fr3b to get your free samples!

ACNES Mentholatum Cleanser Review

What? ACNES Mentholatum Cleanser
Where to buy? Watsons
How much? SGD $6.90 for 100ml

Firstly, I apologize for the lack of updates.
I’ve been spending most of my time working and resting (aka sleeping).
Anyway, it has been a MONTH since I’ve tried out the ACNES mentholatum cleanser.
Yes, my other cleansers are feeling alittle neglected now. LOL.

Remember I had the allergic breakout back then when I first received the ACNES
cleanser hamper? VIEW HERE
So I went for a facial at BELLA SKIN, I’ll blog about it later.
Anyway, sad to say, it didn’t exactly subside immediately.

But I’ve been using the ACNES mentholatum cleanser daily without fail.
Firstly, I think it smells great; some minty lemon scent.
And secondly, it doesn’t sting your eyes like how some cleansers do.
What’s more, it contains Vitamin C & E??
How cool is that!

So till now, I hardly have a spot but of course, it’s due to a number of factors.
You can’t just rely on a cleanser alone to minimize breakouts.
Remember to have enough sleep, drink sufficient water, watch that diet and apply suitable products for your skin.

ACNES Mentholatum blogger campaign

I collected my ACNES hamper the other day.
It’s a really small hamper LOL.

Anyway, I was thinking to myself, I had no acne so how would it help.
Then lo and behold, I got that bad skin allergy reaction and what’s worst is that
it is not getting any better.
It seems to just erupt on every Sunday. This is the 2nd Sunday so it is like a relapse!

I’ve not started on the ACNES cleanser YET but I will probably soon and I hope
that the spots on my face would disappear soon.
I get so depressed seeing my face turn out like that when it was once near flawless :(

URGH………

Bioderma Sébium H2O Solution Micellaire

Where to buy?: Guardian
How much? RP $33.90 for 250ml

Taken from the bioderma website itself:

“BIODERMA innovation, Sébium H2O gently cleanses the skin without drying it, through the micro-emulsion of impurities and excess sebum.

• Enriched with purifying active ingredients, Sébium H2O cleanses the epidermis in depth and regulates secretion of sebum. The patented sebo-correcting complex, Fluidactiv®, normalises sebum quality.

• Sébium H2O guarantees excellent cutaneous and ocular tolerance.

• Sébium H2O is non-comedogenic.”

I got my sample yesterday and was excited to try it out.
Since it was highly raved in 8days and Mind&Body according to the beauty advisor.
She also mentioned that this range of products were specially targetting
those with sensitive skin.

(I have 2 sachets because I collected on the behalf of a colleague!)

The blue one is for oily/combination skin which I had (Oily on the T-zone & dry at the cheeks *le sigh* )

Verdict:

Interestingly, it is a non-rinse product. You just pour out some onto a cotton ball/pad and then pad lightly all over your face.
It’s said to remove makeup without having to rinse or double cleanse too.

After that, you use a new cotton pad dabbed with the solution and then pad all over again to remove any possible residue before you pad your face dry with clean cotton or towel.

Sounds good and totally hassle-free, perfect for the lazy woman like myself!
I read through the reviews on Makeupalley and there were mixed reviews though majority were still full of praise.
What more, apparently, this product is highly raved by models.
Then again, I was skeptical… would this suit asian skin too?

I decided to give it a go last night.
I had some makeup on:

Face: Maybelline Pure Minerals Foundation
Cheeks: Elf blusher in glow
Eyes: Some japanese brand powder liner
Eyebrow: TheFaceShop blackbean liner

Photobucket

I had to use up to 5 cotton pads to ensure that my makeup was totally cleaned off.
Not very economical.
Considering that the beauty advisor told me that the samples were 10ml each.
So I had 2 which meant that it would last me approximately 10 times.
Thus, it means that 2ml for each use was sufficient.
But I had managed to use up 5ml last night just to remove my makeup solely.

Some MUA reviewers shared the same concern on how costly it would be
if we used this solely as a makeup remover for the entire face.
We would have to use up alot of cotton pads & solution to ensure that our face
is totally free from any dirt or makeup.

So as a makeup remover, I give it: out 5.

But as a toner alone, it has redeemed itself.
I took the risk and did not rinse off last night and somehow I fell asleep
while waiting for my guy’s brother to reach home with the car.
So I slept without any moisturiser on in an air-con room.

However, this morning, I woke up with soft, supple skin.
It worked great and was not drying at all for me.
I am very tempted to purchase it very soon especially since
It’s currently going for $33.90 a bottle of 250ml.
But Guardian is having a promotion now.
1st bottle at 20% off and 2nd bottle at 50% off.
So if I buy two, it would cost me $44.07 $50.85 for just 2 bottles!

That’s still pretty CHEAP!!!
