Dear readers, it is the Chinese lunar new year and I would like to wish you all a blessed & prosperous happy new year, filled with lots of love, happiness and joy. Also, good health to one and all, after all, health is wealth.
My previous sheep nails were melting away due to me slaving over the bouquets for Love U Beary Much and knowing that they probably won’t look good on Chinese New Year, I made another appointment with my trusty mobile manicurist, Ferlyn of Hausfernails. I also had a pampering nail mask treatment added to the usual gel manicure. Honestly, I must be living under a rock because I didn’t know that you even had masks for nails!
So here’s what happened. As you can see, my nails looked dry and brittle after the gel nail polish removal. I have this tendency to break my nails when they grow too long too Continue reading →
I know I’m getting older because CNY no longer feels that special anymore. No longer would I be able to look forward to receiving Ang Baos, in fact, this is the 2nd year I have to give them out. Plus, staying at home and looking after an active toddler meant no chance to really shop for CNY clothings. I couldn’t find an outfit to match the impulse buy sneakers so I didn’t leave the house feeling like a million bucks on CNY. I just wanted to get it over and done with.
Nowadays, the passing lion dance troupe is more of an annoyance then a reminder of the festive season. Especially if you just spent the past 2 hours trying to coax your 1 year old to take a nap so that you could take one too.
Neither do I relish huge social gatherings because they just drain the energy out of me. I actually very much would prefer to just spend the CNY quietly at home with my loved ones.
So I’m sorry if I sound like a wet blanket but I hope your CNY was fantastic. Perhaps next year’s CNY might be a better one for me.
I have been doing some online shopping of late, which is something rather rare because I’m usually shopping for Asher all the time. However, CNY is just around the corner, and I’m lacking casual outfits so what the heck. My wardrobe is full of work dresses but when it comes to casual stuff I only have tees, tanks and shorts. So I decided to get some casual dresses online.
It’s barely a month since the Christmas holidays and now it’s almost Chinese New Year already. I’m overwhelmed by the number of festive holidays though I am not complaining all thanks to the long weekend which I am sure most of us are looking forward to.
So what is Chinese New Year for you? For me, it’s getting bombarded with questions like ‘When are you going to have children?’ and what’s not. It’s no surprise why most youngsters (do I still have the privilegde of calling myself one =x) shun this particular festive holiday. Those who ain’t married are asked about marriage. Those who have just graduated are asked about their jobs or the lack of one. It seems like the nosey relatives have nothing much to talk about then to pester us with the neverending questions. So what witty answers have you prepared in anticipation of the irritating queries you will receive this CNY? I’ve yet to come up with my list.
Yes, if you have not heard, the Little Orange Dress is set to be HUGE this 2012. Isn’t this just perfect for the Lunar New Year that’s less than 3 weeks away? Perhaps its time to start shopping for that LOD…
Tangerine Tango has been announced as the defining shade for 2012 by Pantone, a color casting firm. “Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” explained Pantone’s executive director Leatrice Eiseman.
If an outfit in that shade is out of the question for you, how about trying to incorporate some orange in your makeup?
