And so it is the time of the year again, where I am another step closer to 40. *shudders* This year’s birthday was a nice, quiet affair which included a lot of feasting. I’m so blessed by all the treats and wonderful presents. On Saturday, we had an awesome lunch at Sumiyah Charcoal Grill Izakaya and dinner at Beaulieu House, thanks to hub’s aunty. Food was great at Sumiyah, fresh sashimi and delicious skewed meats. Loved it! Then on Sunday night, I whipped up a simple dinner and had the sister ovr. She treated me to Pizza Hut the next day for lunch to fulfill my pizza craving. I know Pizza Hut isn’t the best place to go for pizzas but they are having this 1 for 1 promo now and I just had to take advantage of it. Then later on that night, hub’s aunty treated us to Thai Express. I must have gained 10 kg from all the pigging out!
Yes, I’m as guilty as charged. Ever since I accidentally stumbled onto online shopping 12 years back (Oh no, I sound so old now). I’ve been buying practically almost everything online. From household groceries to baby supplies and even dog food, I get it all online. So naturally when it comes to my clothes, shoes and accessories, you bet that they are mostly bought online too.
I love how technology has brought the fashion world closer to us, we no longer need to set foot out of the house to purchase another dress. Just go online, click and check out. It is that simple. In fact, with the Internet, you could just check out the latest trends and what’s Princess Kate is wearing so that you can buy that same dress and hopefully cart out before it is sold out.
Even high fashion brands such as Burberry have jumped on board the online store bandwagon. Fans of the famous plaid prints can now check out their latest offerings on their webstore and cart out if anything catches your fancy. Other brands such as Chanel, have gone all social media savvy too and though you can’t buy a 2.55 online, you could however watch their latest fashion shows there or browse through their online catalogs.
This is not an actual shopping mall but a set display built specially for the Chanel Fall/Winter 2014/15 Ready-to-Wear Show. This is by far, in my personal opinion, Karl Lagerfeld’s best set ever. It beats everything else he has done hands down and that includes the ice bergs, giant jacket and jet sets.
Can you already smell Christmas? It’s just a mere 5 days away… OMG, I’m so excited just soaking up the festive atmosphere. One of the things I love about Christmas are the different makeup collections and themes which these cosmetic brands come up with. Looks like most are going for that princessy look this 2013 which is rather befitting for a magical occasion like Christmas.
When you talk about arm candy, these perfume clutches come to mind. Spotted on Alex Chung at the GQ awards was the absolutely gorgeous Chanel Perfume Clutch from the 2014 Cruise Collection.
The below photo shows a close up of the Chanel perfume clutch. Personally, I think I would go for the black one. It’s more mysterious-looking and yet still very classy.
Chanel CC cream fans would be delighted to learn that there will be a choice of shades now available at the counters. In the past, the CC Cream was only available in 20 Beige but now a new shade called 12 Rose Beige has been launched.
It’s the time of year where your schedule gets flooded with party invites and hot dates. So while you are partying the night away, here are some tips on how to make the most of it while staying beautiful and classy.
A lovely ex-colleague gave this to me and I was pretty eager to try it. And it’s my first luxury make up brand CC cream. If you had been following my CC cream reviews, you would notice that I had managed to try out a variety of Korean brands only. A short extract taken from the Chanel website: With its CHANEL signature, CC Cream combines 5 actions in 1 single step:
SOOTHES. Cornflower water comforts sensitive skin.
MOISTURIZES. Hyaluronic acid helps maintain hydration level all day long by trapping and retaining moisture inside the skin.
PROTECTS. SPF 30 and PA+++ sun filters block aging-accelerating UVA-UVB rays. A mineral filter guarantees higher tolerance on the skin.
PREVENTS. An active ingredient of natural origin, Rejuvencia, provides the best shield against external aggressions.
EVENS OUT IMPERFECTIONS. Redness, dark spots and pores are visibly diminished.
Within moments, skin appears flawless and glows with a natural beauty. The complexion is visibly even-toned, fresh and radiant. CC Cream delivers complete correction and natural-looking, long-wear makeup. An ideal cream for day-long confidence with a lightweight, non-oily, comfortable texture.
If I’m not wrong, its available in one shade only – 20 beige
There is a strong scent, not sure if that’s the smell of cornflower water? Upon application, it turns matt instantly. In fact, it was so quick that I was worried I won’t have time to do my entire face without it drying up on my palms.
In terms of coverage, I would say it’s average. Which is a good thing for those who prefer something light or have pretty great-looking skin to begin with. Those who like me, have these crazy dark eye rings, broken capillaries and blemishes might not find the coverage sufficient. Hence, a concealer is recommended to be used together with the Chanel CC Cream.
Like the other CC creams I have tried, the Chanel CC cream does not disappoint with it comes to achieving that radiant glow.
If you ask me, I still would prefer The Face Shop’s CC Cream due to the coverage it provides. However, this one does not pale out in comparison much, I guess it would have worked better on me if I had a blemish-free complexion (which I unfortunately do not have).
I wonder if a Chanel ice-cream cone tastes better since you know, its branded. Hah!
So you have seen the fashion house’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld’s collaboration with Melissa Shoes. Ice cream heels, yay or nay?
And so anyway, this got me checking out other ice-cream inspired fashion pieces/trends. Little did I know that designer Rhonda Voo already had done a series of ice-cream shoes before Karl. Just check these out…
Perhaps they would go well with these Etude House’s Ice Cream Nails… Don’t they look delectable?
Next, check out these playful-looking necklaces. They are pretty kitschy, eh?
Last but not least, I guess Katy Perry’s Sundae dress is worth featuring in this Ice-cream theme blog post.
Now, would you excuse me while I go grab some Ben & Jerry’s?
