After going for monthly facials at Nu Reflections Face & Body Clinic and making a conscientious effort in looking after my skin, I’m starting to see visible improvement. The Eternal Youth Facials have been most pampering and moisturising for the skin, and helpful in tackling aging concerns. I still get mistaken for being early twenties or mid twenties and I believe I should credit that to part maintenance and part genetics.
This month, I got to try a new facial treatment, called the Aqua Facetherapy facial.
I always look forward to my facials at Nu.Reflections because it is one of the only times I get to relax and have my skin pampered by their attentive therapist. This round, I got to try out the Eternal Youth facial. Long hours in the office causes dry and dehydrated skin while air pollutants also damages the skin. This 2 hour-long rejuvenating facial utilities the apple stem cells to firm, moisturize and repair the skin. For full benefits of this facial, you may refer to the website.
My therapist, Fion, starts out with double cleansing on my face and neck to ensure that no trace of makeup is left. Continue reading →
After skipping regular facials for months or even a whole full year, I am finally back at Nu.Reflections Face and Body clinic to get a facial done. My skin type is more towards dry and sometimes sensitive, it has clogged pores, lots of black and whiteheads due to the months of neglect. Elaine, an experienced therapist took a look at my skin condition and suggested that I did a MagicDrops Facetherapy facial.
PINK BOX July was late but it’s always better late then never. This blog entry, I will introduce the Wonder Pore Series to you. It’s a brand new set launched just recently only. Now, it has a clay pack and whipping foam to complete the line with the existing Wonder Pore Toner.
It’s time to rejoice because Leaders Clinic, a highly popular Korean brand for beauty products is now available in Singapore. And you can get them from Serenity Allure, a new online store in town! They bring in Korean brands such as Leader Clinic & Bidanpo.
The lovely folks at Serenity Allure were nice enough to let me try out some of the products. I got this parcel from them last week:
So what’s in there?
From your left to right, you can see there’s the #1 – IPL Whitelux Ampoule Mask, #2 – Collagen Infusion Essential Mask & #3-Leaders Clinic Sulphur Blackhead Sunction Nose Pack.
Just a brief intro to Leaders Clinic – It’s a clinic range developed by top clinical experts in Korea. And they are the best-selling range of masks in Korea with many hot Korean celebrities as their users. These masks are different from other brands especially due to its ultra thin silk cellulose material; so that it fits on your face like a second skin. Allowing the mask’s essence to be effectively absorbed by your skin during the treatment.
There are 2 ranges in the masks series; The Ampoule & The Essential Masks. The Ampoule Masks contains the equivalent of one ampoule content. So it saves you the hassle of having to buy individual ampoule bottles and messing up if you have a broken glass ampoule bottle. While the Essential Masks contains highly concentrated essence.
They also carry special care products which target specific problems such as blackheads and sun care products as well.
Happened to chance upon these videos while I was surfing Asiaone. Robin Niu (牛尔老师), Taiwanese beauty guru was in town recently to promote KOSE & also host a beauty workshop. I found some of the beauty tips useful and hence, would like to share it on my blog.
For those who don’t understand chinese, I will try my best to summarize each video’s contents. As my chinese is of C6 standard only, do bear with me
Robin Niu spends 3 hours on skincare routine
Robin Niu was mistaken as a 26-28 years old overseas when he was actually 41 years old then. How does he manage to look so young still? He claims to spend 2-3 hours on skincare. Seriously, I can’t do that Most importantly, use cleanser, moisturizer and sun care.
Pat your lines away

He swipes the pad over her face first to remove the makeup before patting for 200 times. Robin Niu says there’s no ugly women, only lazy women!! (Yes, that’s me – Miss Lazy) Anyway, he explains that patting is essential because it will help skincare products which are applied afterwards to be penetrated deep into the skin and moisture will also be retained to keep the skin hydrated.
Patting can lessen the appearance of lines, wrinkles and uplift your face shape too. OMG! I must try this….
Massage your eyebags away

If you use your computer for long hours, the skin below the eyes will become droopy and saggy. As we only have a few muscles around that area, its elasticity will be reduced overtime. Our eyeball presses against the skin as we look down, so eventually eyebags will form. But do not be tempted to do eyebag removal surgery unless the doctor is really qualified to do so, as some patients end up with sunken eyes after that.
The video shows 4 steps on how to massage your eyes. Look up and use your 4th finger to pat gently below the eye area for 200 times. After that, close your lids and pat 50 times. This is called the Piano Finger move.
The next step is called the Scissor Finger movement, as shown in the video. Press down with both fingers seperated and your eye is in the center of the two fingers. Move them towards the side and then press down hard on at the area near your temples and press/massage hard down. There is an acupoint there. Next, push it down to the lymph node around the neck area to flush all water retention over.
The third step is the Acupoint Move, use your middle finger for this. Press your middle finger at the area near the inner corner of the eye and then below the eye, right smack in the middle. Next, move your finger further below the same point, before moving up to the outer corner of the eye. The next acupoint would be the tip of the inner eyebrow, followed by the middle and then the end of your brow.
The last step requires you to rub your palms together 20 times before pressing it against your face. This promotes the stimulation of endorphins. Seriously, I think Japanese ladies look so good because they spend so much time doing all these to their skin as well.

Robin says that dead skin cells will accumulate and form whiteheads/blackheads if not removed every 2 days. When cleansing your face, pat all over before using the other side of the cotton pad to rub gently off. The deep cleansing oil has a special oil ingredient which is fine enough to penetrate into our pores and loosen our whiteheads/blackheads.
He rubs the deep cleansing oil onto one part of the volunteer’s face. This is now really interesting, he uses what looks like small sheets of shrink wrap to cover the top of the areas where he has rubbed the cleansing oil on. Robin Niu says its his secret tip. This should be done daily for 10mins!!
How it works is that our natural temperature will loosen the whiteheads/blackheads. Hence, when we rinse our face, the whiteheads/blackheads will be removed as well! The remaining more stubborn whiteheads/blackheads can be removed with the famous KOSE mask white. Wow, you can actually see the difference on the volunteer’s face.
They say pore packs enlarge your pores. Why? I have no idea. And KAO which produces the Biore pore packs claim that using them will not enlarge pores and your pores will go back to their original size within a day or 2.
So what’s the difference now with these peel-off masks? Well, for one, it does not come in a defined shape or size like the pore pack. Do bear in mind that the pore pack is designed for usage on the nose alone. Unlike the Shills chocolate mask which is in a paste-like form. This gives me control over where I want to apply the paste on and how large of a surface area I need.
I just want to share how the SHILLS Chocolate Peel-off Mask is working wonders for me!
I used the CURE Natural Aqua Gel before this. It scrubs off the dead skin and kind of preps the skin for the peel-off mask to rid it of stubborn blackheads that just won’t come off with the scrubbing.
The whitish dots you see on the mask ARE blackheads! Amazing, isn’t it? However, be warned, only purchase it if you have high pain threshold.
Anyway, if you are thinking of buying the Shills chocolate mask. Do take note of the following:
Application Cleanse and dry your face before use. For dry skin conditions, apply toner to face before use. Apply appropriate amounts to face. The thickness should just be sufficient to cover up the pores. Avoid sensitive areas such as eyes, lips, eye brows. Allow 15-30 minutes to dry and peel mask off from the bottom up slowly. Apply your normal skincare then after.
Storage Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
Notes: 1. Do not apply product to other sensitive parts of the skin. (Around the eyes, scalp or lips.) 2. Should you suffer from any allergies from the use of this product, please stop using immediately and consult your dermatologist. 3. For sensitive skin users, use small amounts on your skin for the first trail. If there are no allergic reactions, continue as per normal. 4. Place product away from direct sunlight.
Where to buy?: Beauty Bistro OR John Little / SASA How much? SGD$21.50
I couldn’t find much info about this particular KoreanTaiwan brand, Shills. However, I know that it’s much raved on NU REN WO ZUI DA and that it can be found in payeasy.com It is also retailing in some local online stores. Try googling for ‘Beauty Bistro’ or ‘Yourlifestore’.
What I got recently:
Super Magic BB Cream, Sexy Legs Spray Foundation Retail Price $21.50 cus I have ugly legs….
Product Description: SHILLS B.B Cream Sexy Leg Spray Foundation gives you the instant effects of sexy glossy legs without stockings or pantyhose. With its creative super light nude-look particle adsorbing technology, it instantly modifies uneven skin complexion.
No oily & uncomfortable feeling in hot climates. Extracted from all natural herbal essence with Korean manufactured EGF technology.
Natural whitening Arbutin essence whitens and moisturizes the skin. Peppermint essence refreshes tired legs and cools down skin in hot weather.
VERDICT: It is just like what the product description suggests. Foundation for your legs. What comes out of the nozzle is icy cold, beige mousse-like substances. Then you spread it evenly over your legs so that you don’t look like you’ve got patchy legs.
I don’t know how long can one tiny spray can like this last me!!! Seriously, if you need to do this for both entire legs, it’s gonna take quite abit of the BB cream. It did work though but needs alot of spreading and proper blending lest you end up looking streakish.
You see, I get red marks after I epilate my legs. And this would help in concealing the marks even if it’s just alil coverage.
And we shall move on to then next product….
Shills Chocolate Peel Off Mask Retail Price $21.50
Product Description: A French chocolate beauty secret. Firms and tighten pores without oiliness and brightens the skin immediately. Removes excess oil and impurities by peeling, purifies the skin surface.
Shills Chocolate Peel off Whitening Mask is creatively made using chocolate essence and natural herbs which help to deep cleanse pores, remove old dead skin and extra oil. It can effectively slim facial features to create 3D V-face. The results are a slim, whiter and soften skin.
Strong chocolate fragrance brightens your mood.
VERDICT: Ouch, painful when you peel it off!
It’s like chocolate fudge oozing out of a tube! You spread it evenly onto the spot you want and wait for it to dry. After that, you can start peeling and oh boy, does it hurts! Cus it’s kinda like waxing.
This product REALLY removes your facial hair. I saw like a zillion of tiny, very faint fine hair on the mask!!!
It was not as effective in removing my blackheads as a pore pack but I still like this mask! Haha! I don’t know why. Maybe cus it’s something so unique and innovative since it’s a CHOCOLATE mask. When on second thoughts, it is really pretty similar to the Dasio Charcoal Mask which costs $2 only.
I think I’ll grab a charcoal mask soon and try it out again to compare the two.
ETA!!! Stick to the Shills mask. I tried the Dasio charcoal mask and it didn’t really work at all.
PLEASE REFER TO MY LATEST POST(Dated Thursday, 7 May 2009) ON THIS! It works great if you use a scrub before using the mask! CLICK HERE FOR IT
