Just Me & My Gaston Luga Clässic Backpack

Backpacks are a must-have for me when it comes to having to carry lots of stuff or when you are going out with your children and you really need to be as hands-free as possible. So I was searching for women’s backpack recommendation and the rest is history. Needless to say, I was thrilled to receive my Gaston Luga Clässic backpack in black, all the way from Stockholm. Please check out my unboxing video on Instagram!

Christmas Shopping

December is one of the months where most of us folks tend to spend a lot and I am no exception. Maybe it is due to the holiday season where everyone is a in festive mood. Not to forget the temptation of all the year end sales with irresistible bargains. And it is difficult not to get tempted when you have been scrimping and saving up the whole year. This seems like the perfect opportunity to pamper yourself a little, only to realise that you can’t stop the moment you begun.

Seoul Day 1-3 (Myeongdong, Express Bus Terminal, Nami Island, Petite France & N Seoul Tower)

The Seoul trip last month was kind of impromptu and I had only bqooked tickets and accommodation a month before so it was pretty pricey but the chance to just escape from all the crap down here was simply too alluring. And there was no regrets at all though travelling with the little one was really quite a headache.

Myeongdong

Our hotel was right smack in Myeongdong, also known as the beauty shopping street because there are so many skincare and cosmetic shops around. Here you can find Etude House, Innisfree, The Face Shop, Nature Republic, Olive Young and the list goes on. Many K-beauty fanatics like to come here to shop for their beauty supplies, which is probably cheaper only if you buy in bulk. However, with the convenience of online shopping, I can noticed that I could easily get the same items from online platforms such as Qoo10 which ships from Korea at around the same price too. So shopping wasn’t exactly a top priority for me this trip.

Supermarket Hauls From Batam

So I went on a short 2 days 1 night getaway to Batam last week. When I plan a trip down there, I would just do the usuals which included eating at A&Ws and getting a massage. If you ask me about the shopping, I would tell you that there is nothing much to get over there. The more popular mall which is at Nagoya Hill is full of stores selling counterfeit products. Then my girlfriend told me to check out the supermarkets instead. And I could not believe myself, as a self-proclaimed bargain hunter who sweeps shelves in supermarkets in Johor Bahru, how could I totally not think of this!?

Unfortunately due to bad planning, we reached Batam in time for our massage and after that it was a race against time to grab dinner and do a little shopping. I had only managed to hit the supermarket the next day before leaving for Singapore. Guess what were my hauls?

Hubby’s Birthday – Alive Museum & Staycation at Wanderlust

It was the hubby’s birthday so we celebrated with an outing to the Alive Museum at Suntec City. Adult tickets were at S$25 each but if you purchase online, there’s a 20% discount. It is my first time there and we reached slightly before noon so there wasn’t many people around. In fact, it felt like a ghost town. However, this place isn’t recommended if you have a toddler tagging along. Initially, I thought that Asher might enjoy exploring and posing for photos but no, he was just fixated with the Little Mermaid display and kept wanting to return to it. We also didn’t know that once you get past certain doors in the museum, that there was no turning back. Or you could hang around and wait for someone to open the door so that you could sneak back in. I guess that the museum did not want people hanging around for too long.

My favorite section was probably the Penguins of Madagascar because I love penguins and these animated ones were cute.

My Short Getaway!

Over the weekend, I took a short getaway to Batam with the hubs. It was quite impromptu & booked late Dec. Anyway, I guess it could be sort of like an advance birthday celebration since it’s just round the corner. I’d booked a hotel at Harris Waterfront for around S$70+ but silly me went to book ferry tickets to Batam Centre terminal instead of the Waterfront terminal. It made no sense to have to travel another 30mins from Batam centre ferry terminal to the Waterfront hotel. So I had to waste an additional S$50+ more to cancel the Waterfront hotel and book the one at Harris Batam Centre instead.

The last time I went to Batam was 8 freaking years ago! But I guess nothing much has changed. Our hotel, the Harris Batam Centre, was located just 200 meters away from the ferry terminal and that made it very convenient. Continue reading

Fashion Trends With The Koreans

The K-wave has hit Singapore, leaving us wanting more of everything Korean. From the K-dramas and pop stars,  to the exquisite Korean cuisine and even fashion. Wanna look like a Korean hottie? Why not get some inspiration from what the folks in Korea are wearing now.

I love everything about that sassy lass above, from her finger tattoos to the gorgeous lace dress she’s wearing. Everything about her just screams chic. Wanna recreate this look? Here’s a guide for you. I’m digging the lacey heels below.

For more, head to Fashion Spotting in Garosugil, Seoul, Korea

Seriously, I think only the Koreans can make anything look fashionable. Bell-bottoms are back? I think I would look like a fashion disaster in those but not these Koreans. They just know what to pair them with to give out that awesome trendy chic vibes.

Complete your bell-bottoms with a pair of platform heels that are all the rage right now. And you are ready to rock the streets!

Can’t get enough of Korean-inspired fashion? There’s more at Fashion Spotting in Myeongdong, Seoul, Korea

Hello from Shanghai II

image

So last night, I went to Xin Tian Di, a tourist spot in Shanghai. Had dinner at Crystal Jade cuz I was told it was nicer then Singapore’s. As usual, I didn’t take any photos of my food because the first thought on my mind the moment my food is served is to eat it. And defintely not to whip out my iPhone to snap.

I also got to take the train for a second time and it was mad crowded. Unfortunately, that was our only choice because during peak hours, it can be so difficult to get a cab here. Does the photo below reminds you of a similar scene in Singapore? It’s probably gonna get worst if we hit 6.9 million in population.

image I didn’t shop much around the XTD area though. Everything’s probably too expensive anyway. So off we headed to explore Cheng Huang Temple.

And as usual, since it’s the summer holidays. The area was bustling with the PRC crowd, probably from other provinces. Though I cannot fathom why people would want to come here when it’s like 40 degrees high. Yes, you read me right.

There’s quite a number of shops here selling souvenirs here. I was disappointed to see the pens which I bought yesterday at Peace Hotel going at ridiculously cheap prices there. For each pen I had gotten at Peace hotel, I could have bought 12 pens. That’s a total of 48 pens I could have gotten with the amount spent yesterday. No wonder the lady boss gave me a free necklace. Urgh… Oh well, lesson learnt.

Hello from Shanghai

I’m in Shanghai for some work and it’s 38deg here. Really freaking hot! And I’m kinda embarrassed to say that this is my first time traveling alone. But so far, it has been ok. I probably should try traveling alone but maybe not. I already miss my little piggy.

Anyway, my hotel room is huge, for someone living alone. I think I got an upgrade. The bedroom has a sliding door that separates the “living room” which has a sofa and the other tv.

I went to the Bund today and it was mad crowded, not with tourists but the mainland folks. Bad idea to come by during the summer.

We stopped by the iconic Peace Hotel & there was this quirky shop inside which sold souvenirs. I bought some stuff… Thought this owl was really cute, I couldn’t resist.

So anyway I can’t wait for Friday to come so that I can see my precious lil baby.
