Cafe-hoppers rejoice because Dazzling Café, the famous chain of cafes from Taiwan, renowned for its honey toast, will be coming to Singapore in April 2015. The first flagship store will be located at the newly renovated Capitol Piazza, opposite Raffles City, along North Bridge Road.

Established by Taiwanese socialite Janet Yang in 2005, the Dazzling brand started out as a jewelry boutique called Dazzling Fashion. 5 years later, Janet launched the café arm of the business, taking Taiwan by storm and since then, Dazzling Café has been widely recognized for their Shibuya-style Honey Toast.

Another Year Older…

And so it is the time of the year again, where I am another step closer to 40. *shudders* This year’s birthday was a nice, quiet affair which included a lot of feasting. I’m so blessed by all the treats and wonderful presents. On Saturday, we had an awesome lunch at Sumiyah Charcoal Grill Izakaya and dinner at Beaulieu House, thanks to hub’s aunty. Food was great at Sumiyah, fresh sashimi and delicious skewed meats. Loved it! Then on Sunday night, I whipped up a simple dinner and had the sister ovr. She treated me to Pizza Hut the next day for lunch to fulfill my pizza craving. I know Pizza Hut isn’t the best place to go for pizzas but they are having this 1 for 1 promo now and I just had to take advantage of it. Then later on that night, hub’s aunty treated us to Thai Express. I must have gained 10 kg from all the pigging out!

It's my birthday weekend! #birthday #selfportrait #selfie #selfietime #selfienation #love #asian #sgblogger #sgbeautyblogger #sggirl #自拍

Orchard Hotel’s Christmas Light-Up Party

We went invited to the Christmas Light-up Party at Orchard Hotel that’s conveniently located in the heart of the city. It’s starting to feel a lot like Christmas now with all the Christmas decor and light ups at Orchard Road. And it was nice honor to be one of the first to witness the unveiling of their enchanting Snowy Christmas Glass House.

We were treated to a yummy gourmet dinner by La Terrasse, which is located at Level 2 of the hotel. La Terrasse serves international cuisine but the spread today were mostly Christmas-inspired. Just check out my photos, expect lots of hunger-inducing pictures… WARNING! FOOD PORN!  Continue reading

Food Tasting @ Sakae Sushi

When you mention Sakae Sushi, it brings back memories of my schooling days where hanging out at the restaurant for their popular tea-time buffet was a weekly affair. Inspired by flavours around the world, Sakae Sushi has revamped their menu with a local twist, where diners can expect over 120 new tantalising selections.

So I got invited to a food tasting at the Orchard Gateway branch and was pretty surprised by some of the dishes. Let’s start with the appetizers.

What I’ve Been Up To (Toddler Activities & Some Updates)

Firstly, I fell sick then Asher caught the flu bug from me. Since then, we were like sick little bobos for the past 2 weeks. Then just last weekend, we had the car to ourselves, so naturally we have been out almost everyday. So I have been busy busy busy and have not been blogging as often as I wanted to.

Here’s what I managed to do with Asher. I’m glad to finally announce that we have established a bedtime routine! I know, it is one of the fundamentals that should have been set up months ago but parenting is a journey of lifelong learning. So we are into our first week and hopefully, we will not break out of it.

We bring in a couple of books, some of them handpicked by the big boy himself. We indulge in some reading after he finishes his milk. It is a calming activity that helps him to relax and get ready for bed.

I’ve also DIYed a light box for him with materials from IKEA. However, I am still not totally satisfied with it. I think my box is too shallow and small but this would make do for the moment.

IMG_20140720_114318And I got some peekaboo reddish pink highlights done but since they were peekaboos, they are not obvious. I’m not sure if I like it or am regretting it. But I probably would let my hair rest for a month before I do something else to it.

I was also at a launch event for Creme Simon, check out my blog post on it. And I just had a food tasting at Sakae Sushi this week. Yes, I tried all of the yummy stuff above… Now, this is just a teaser, so wait for my blog review, ok?

Guess that pretty much sums up what I’ve been up to of late. Oh and August, please be good to me.

PODI – New Breakfast & Grill Restaurant at Raffles City

So I was lucky enough to catch a break away from the baby on Wed night, went for a restaurant preview at Raffles City with my sis.

Presenting a new breakfast & grills restaurant named PODI – which stands for Pure. Offbeat. Delicious. Infusions. is brought to you by the founders of Cedele, P.L.T Sandwiches and Toss & Turn food concepts. Best of all, it launches TODAY so if you are wondering where you should head down for dinner tonight. You can go check it out, it’s located at B1-45, just right beside the fountain called VITALITY.

The shoestring fries in truffle oil was yummilicious. I also love the lemon vinaigrette dressing in the Prawn & Crab Spinach Salad. You should try these 2 dishes out when you go there.

We got to taste a little bit of everything, so the dishes shown here are of sample size. Check out the Eggs & Waffles selection:

image-6An interesting dish which caught my attention was the Duck Berry Waffle which is made up of waffles topped with duck confit served with egg, blueberry compote and maple syrup vinaigrette. You have to get abit of everything on this plate and then add the maple syrup vinaigrette sauce to fully enjoy it. I thought it was quite a novelty dish but apparently in the US, fried chicken served on waffles is quite common according to my sister.

image-11This is the chicken pot from the Grill selection. The chicken was perfectly marinated, it was flavorful and not overly oily. The seasoned tomatoes tasted so heavenly, I wish I could have a potful of them.

These are the other grills we tried and personally, the Argentina Sirloin Steak stood out from this 3 choices. I was rather full by the time this dish came by but that did not stop me from finishing up my portion. It was that good. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavors. Unfortunately, it was done Medium, which was too tough for my liking. Probably medium rare would have done it more justice.

image-7To complete our enjoyable dining experience, we had these desserts to sample. Sadly I was way too full by then so I only had a mouthful of the ice cream. It was delicious and I wished I haven’t wasted food. Haha…

We were given these lovely goodies in our door gifts. Can’t wait to try out the cookies…

The food is priced affordably at S$15-18 for breakfast meals and S$14-24 for the grills.

Operating hours: Weekdays: 10am – 10pm

Weekends/PH: 9am – 10pm • Retail: 8am – 10pm

[Review] Pezzo Pizza

Nestled conveniently in the heart of Orchard Road at Ion  is this take-away Pizza place called Pezzo Pizza. I first spotted a lady having this thick, chunky slice of pizza in the Ion food court and that aroused my curiousity. Then we happened to chance upon the store at Basement 4, the same level as the food court. Just turn to your left and walk down after exiting the escalator from the MRT station level.

20130903_122701_resizedThey have quite a variety of pizza choices. However, not all were available when I was at the store.

Prices start at S$4.50 for a slice. And you can top up S$1 for a soft drink with choices such as coke, sprite or ice lemon tea if my memory does not fail me.

20130903_124000_resizedWhile I ordered the MEAT MUNCHERS & PEPPERONI PIZZA.

Overall, we are satisfied with our pizzas. For a start, S$4.50 a slice may seem slightly pricey. But given the size and thickness of the pizza, I think the price tag is reasonable. Furthermore, the toppings are generous and the dough is of pretty good quality.

It’s take-away concept works well for the office folks in the area who do not wish to jostle with the tourists during lunch hour. Or if you are craving for a quick bite, this is an excellent option to consider. A great alternative to getting Pizza hut delivery.
