Birthday Dinner At The Blue Ginger

This is so cute, my google doodle for today shows birthday cakes and candles. Nice one, Google!

I used to look forward to birthdays but as I got older, the anticipation sorta just died off. But anyway a birthday is still a good excuse to pig out, so yesterday we celebrated my birthday with some nice peranakan food from The Blue Ginger down Tanjong Pagar.

It’s my first time eating there and was a recommendation by the sis. We had the usual favorites such as the Ayam Buay Kelauk, which thankfully did not disappoint. In fact, I think I had 2 servings of rice 😡 then again, they gave me such meager portion of rice just because I look like I don’t eat a lot -.-

While Asher enjoyed the Babi Ponteh and he had more rice than usual too. He was smiling and swaying from side to side after each mouthful, I think he is doing some contended happy little dance. So I guess he really likes that dish. However, the otak failed to impress and I found it too “fluffy” like what one of the reviews in HGW mentioned. Nevertheless, it was still a pleasant dining experience.

Looking at that photo above on the top right hand corner has made me realize that it has been such a long time since I wore a fitting dress and high heels (because I am no longer working now). But it was fun dressing up a little and even getting my little man to wear a shirt too. I don’t even wear that to town for shopping, nowadays it’s lots of casual, baggy outfits with flats or flip-flops because comfort takes priority.

Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes on Facebook! Today I shall be spending the birthday running after my active boy and patching up some of his board books too. Yup, that’s the life of a Stay At Home Mother. You don’t get birthday leave privileges… LOL!
