Truth be told, my eyes widened upon seeing that this week’s assignment is on how to apply makeup properly. And I should be the last person to blog about this because I am seriously no makeup expert. I can’t even blend eyeshadow properly at all (as you can see below)
Luckily, there’s a Beauty Section in My Fat Pocket where you can find all sort of beauty-related articles such as Beauty Reviews and Beauty Tips! While under the How-To column you get Beauty Tutorial Videos. Super informative, yeah?
Before we even begin on makeup, it’s good to ensure that skin is properly moisturized and prepared. Do use a sunscreen if your makeup products (eg: BB cream) does not have sufficient coverage. I personally prefer a minimum of SPF 30 for a regular day indoors.
Next, do pick a suitable shade for your concealer and foundation. It’s recommended that you select a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your foundation. And always ensure that your foundation shade matches your skin tone so that you do not appear like you are wearing a mask.
Always test the shade on your jawline and not your wrist or hand.
Next, let’s perk up the eyes with some color. I’m more of an eyeliner person so I found these Beauty articles in MFP particularly interesting. If you have an issue with smudging eyeliners, then do check out this video: How to make your eyeliner last And if you are still new to lining your eyes, perhaps you would like to check out this article on whether you are doing it right: Have you been applying your eyeliner wrongly?
For the adventurous you, do try adding more colors to your peepers. Read this article on how to select the right eyeshadow shades. I personally love the smokey eye look but have not attained the skills of perfecting it without appearing like Kungfu panda. False eyelashes are a must for me but you can opt for mascara is you are more comfortable with that.
Next, a light dash of blusher to highlight the apples of the cheeks and then add a little lip color and you’re good to go! Last but not least, check out the Beauty Review on the Shu Uemura Cleansing oil to remove your makeup effectively.
