Today, the local internet scene was abuzz with news about a local blogger, Janice Leong, who allegedly demanded a free haircut from Lacoco Korean Hair Salon. And then threatened to blog about the salon and “damage its reputation” when she did not receive a reply as fast as expected.
The recipient of the email then decided to expose the matter on Facebook and soon this below print-screen went viral as many netizens started sharing and shaming the blogger.
Now, the interesting part is that Janice Leong claimed that her email account had been hacked and someone had impersonated her while sending out that rude email.
Do you buy her story? Well, honestly, I don’t.
But anyway, from the way I see it, this could work for her somehow. From a relatively unknown blogger to someone who is pretty much infamous now. I mean, hey, she’s on the news!
She shouldn’t have taken down her blog but left it up because she is going to get so much traffic now. Everyone is curious. Who is this Janice Leong? Though she should just disable her comments as the number of angry netizens sending abuse would be aplenty.
And if she really did send out that rude email, she should just admit her mistake and move on. In fact, I’m sure there would be a number of folks who would forgive her and actually detract from the haters camp to support her for being courageous.
Anyway, there’s a bit of gossip too which I found from an EDMW thread, allegedly from someone who knows her:
I am posting this on a friend’s account of her.
She is not a very pleasant person. She tries to live off her friends. Every time she goes out with someone, she tries to get that person to sponsor her a meal or a gift.
She constantly brags about writing to get sponsorship from anything under the sun, from SIA for free tickets to taxi companies for sponsored rides and even to sanitary pad makers and condom producers like Durex.
When a company rejects her, she is often less polite in her reply. The tonality used for requesting for sponsorship is often regarded by everyone as rude and self inflating.
Apparently, I heard she used to owe her hairdresser money for her hairdo and stopped visiting the salon after they refuse to pay her for blogging about them. She claimed that since she was making money from her blog, she should be paid for whatever content that is posted on it.
Also she often takes to organizing parties and get-togethers and collect money from the attendees. Her friends suspect her of overcharging and pocketing the balance.
BTW the phone number CSI’ed out is wrong. The 1 should be replaced with a 0
She currently has no job.
What she does for a living is go around attending the events. No one actually knows where her “money” comes from. She even created a Facebook for her hairdresser to help promote the salon but ended up abusing it to promote her so called blog.
If you can dig up, she tries to flirt and take photos with Joshua Tan (ah boys to men actor) and tries to hook herself with him unsuccessfully of course.
Her friends are just being nice and try to accede to her requests but they did not know what a rotten attitude she has till that email surfaced.
Because my friend is actually nice and does not believe in staying away from bad people.
From my friend’s intel, she comes from a not so well to do family. Chinese dad, Filipino mum. However, they are conservative and do not like her raunchy behaviour and dressing. My friend claims she also brags about how she cheats on her boyfriends.
If the above is true…
