PUTIEN

Was really stoked to be invited to PUTIEN for a tasting, always known it for it’s super good Chinese cuisine! Used to visit quite a bit with my fam and it was so lovely to be back.

PUTIEN serves cuisine from the Fujian Province in China: characteristically light, down-to-earth, and flavourful food with an emphasis on fresh ingredients.

PUTIEN Presents the Season’s Best Seafood Fare: PUTIEN Duo Tou Clams
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE clams!

This April to August, PUTIEN shares its wealth of golden-shelled succulent goodness, specially air-flown from Duo Tou Village in the Fujian province of China through PUTIEN Clams Festival. (Can you believe my excitement?)

These seasonal, fresh clams can grow up to 6cm long and are prized for their sweet, delicate and meaty flesh that matches up to a wide variety of flavours. Their natural sweetness and texture are retained even after cooking.

Duo Tou Clams Festival Dishes include:

Picture

Baked PUTIEN Clam served on Hot Plate:  Brilliantly prepared with sea salt as the hallmark component of a fresh seafood dish. You don’t even need the extra salt because the freshness of the clams allows you to taste the natural saltiness of the sea!
Picture

Stir-fried PUTIEN Clam with Ginger and Spring Onion: Brings out the natural sweetness of the clams. Can’t go wrong with this.
Picture

Steamed PUTIEN Clam with Wine: A chef’s special, steamed upright with Huadiao wine to release a heady aroma. Rmbr to drink up all the leftover broth, all the goodness is in there!
Picture

Steamed PUTIEN Clam with Minced Garlic: A homely favourite, the clams are steamed lightly with minced garlic, spring onions and chillies
Picture

Salted Spicy PUTIEN Clam: Seasoned liberally and recommended to savour cautiously, with an ice cold beer in hand! Fried to perfection.
Picture

PUTIEN Clam Omelette: Healthy and reminiscent of home cooking. A delightful twist on your normal oyster omelette!
Picture

PUTIEN Clam Soup with Toufu Meatballs: Traditionally prepared, clams are boiled with an assortment of cauliflower, snow peas and tofu meatballs to highlight its natural sweetness. The tofu meatballs are made from homemade tofu, never had anything like it.

(Some of the) Top 10 dishes at PUTIEN

We also got to try some of the Top 10 dishes at PUTIEN!
Picture

Deep Fried Pigs Trotters with Salt & Pepper. PUTIEN only uses the two front legs of the pig for their trotters, meaning there’s plenty of collagen, meat and fat instead of bone!
Picture

Stir-Fried Yam. PUTIEN takes the best part of whole yams and cuts them into cubes. Leaving the outside nicely crisp, and the inside pleasantly doughy, milky, and naturally sweet.
Picture

Seaweed with Mini Shrimps, the perfect appetizer. Made from seaweed that is taken from the head of the harvest, this means that only the sweetest and most chewy seaweed is used.
Picture

Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon – MY FAVOURITE MUST ORDER DISH. The beehoon is handmade, dried out in the sun and you simply cannot get this taste anywhere else other than PUTIEN! Every mouthful of beehoon is packed with so much flavor. Quality and freshness in the ingredients really does make a difference!
Picture

Braised Pig Intestine. only the most delicate parts of the intestine are used in the preparation of this dish. Meticulously folded over by hand, it’s a guarantee that there is a springiness to every bite!

Desserts

Purple Sweet Potato with Pumpkin Cream – I don’t even normally eat sweet potato but this was really good.

Putian Loquat in Herbal Jelly – refreshing to end off your meal
