Brazilian shoe brand Melissa celebrates the joyful wonders of the botanical cosmos for its Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Entitled We Are Flowers, the collection parallels the unique flowers of the world with the uniqueness of women. The collection is now available in store!

Florals with radiant colour combinations, feminine design details, and botanical inspirations were what transpired (along with a topless hunk) at the Melissa We Are Flowers 2014 Presentation at BochinChe a couple of weeks ago. .

Romantic, beautiful, delicate, and full of life, flowers are a miracle of nature and the ultimate symbol of femininity. Flowers also enhance the beauty of their surroundings and bring joy to a person’s life – just as women do. What are your favorite flowers? I love roses ,ranunculus, alstroemeria and eustoma (the list goes on really). I am pretty sure men love flowers too :)

This season, the Melissa garden is made up of four moods:

Hyper Botanic: Romantic and organic designs with retro touches that impart a bucolic and delicate air.

Techno Kitsch: A playfully kitsch vibe with eye-popping prints and bold combinations.

Urban Bloom: Eccentric street wear aesthetics, inspired by the ‘90s, inhabiting a mix of futurism and comfort.

Flower Lab: A modern take on textures and transparencies, fusing technological and botanical influences to create contemporary yet timeless objects of desire.

Some of the key styles of the season include the new Melissa Petal, an organic design inspired by the overlapping layers of flower petals; the Melissa Floret, a pair of wedges with a geometric heel design in contrasting pop colours; and the Melissa Pollen, featuring square cutouts and plastic studs.

In addition to new designs, Melissa’s desirable colour palettes also get updated this season. Echoing the diversity of flowers, the new collection by Melissa appeals to a broad range of tastes, from romantic and feminine to urban and minimalistic. With Melissa’s Spring/Summer 2014 garden of delights, there will surely be a style for everyone.

Even little Melissa fans will find delight in the Spring/Summer 2014 kids collection, which includes new variations on classic favourites. The Mini Melissa Aranha IV is available in a mouth-watering chocolate bar design, while the Mini Melissa Ultragirl gets an adorable update with cow and bow motifs. I am such a fan seriously. Now your little girl can be ultra stylish just like you mamas.

Melissa shoes range in price from SGD$75 to $240 (with the exception of the J Maskrey collection which retails up to SGD$600). Mini Melissa shoes range from SGD$75 to $90, and the MZERO line is priced at SGD$175.

The  Brazilian shoe brand handpicked three local female artists on a collaboration exhibit.

Each of the chosen artists has created a work inspired by the We Are Flowers collection, and these will be on display during the Melissa Spring/Summer 2014 launch event on 1 November 2013 at boCHINche restaurant.

The three local artists picked for this collaboration have each interpreted one mood of the latest Melissa collection in their own unique mediums – Pamm Hong, a projectionist/DJ/art director, will create an artistic video inspired by Techno Kitsch; FleeCircus aka Lee Wai Leng, who has done work for the likes of MTV and Anna Sui, will illustrate her version of Flower Lab; and Linda Hao, a stylist/DJ/model, will create a Hyper Botanic-inspired fashion installation.

The entire Melissa Spring/Summer 2014 collection will be showcased at the launch event, with the designs gradually hitting the MDREAMS shop floor throughout the course of the season.

I am one of those where I’ll feel gravely disturbed had i forgot to apply sunscreen on any given day.
