JEM – Optique of Tomorrow by Nanyang Optical

JEM #03-43
50 Jurong Gateway Road, #03-43
Singapore 608549

Did you know Nanyang Optical started as a lens grinding and edging workshop back in the 1950s? Today Nanyang has grown to be one of Singapore’s largest optical retail chains with much cheer :)

The brand designs, manufactures and retails exclusive brands and has won numerous coveted international eyewear design awards including The Red Dot Product Design, IDSA and German Design Award (Nominee) etc.=

I love how the environment and community is at the heart of their business – and that they are Singapore’s first eco-friendly eyewear store, as well as a corporate partner of Optometry Giving Sight. Nanyang Optical donates eyewear and provides complimentary eye checks for the under-privileged in Singapore.  Kudos to Mr. Bernand Yang for being a great example of a business man that cares.

Nanyang Optical’s concept stores includes the newly launched “The Optique of Tomorrow (T. O. T.)”, Alexis Eyewear Boutique, and Nanyang Optical.

At the launch of T. O. T. at JEM, we got a chance to try hands on, all the sunglasses that suit our whims and fancies. The store is Nanyang Optical’s response to the rising consumer need for eyewear to showcase the wearer’s characteristic identity.

Apart from Retrosuperfuture that never fails to tempt me, there was also Tart optical, and Feb31st which caught my eyes.

Glossi’s fun too – with their flexible NCP Nylon hand stitched frames (seen on the likes of Aerosmith, AKB48, Lee Ji Hoon and more). ( I love the color red, as well as polka dots so this one tops my list!).

CONTEST to take part in their latest contest to win up to $1800 worth of glossi eyewear.

Feb 31st is made of traditional woodcraft by a family with over 3 generations of expertise in wood work -using only FSC-certified raw materials. The wood and color can be customized. Thumbs up for making a difference :) with a eco-friendly stance.

Tart- is of course- often seen on Johnny Depp…it’s what he worn in the movie, Secret Window. Lady Gaga, as well as Paul McCartney wears them too.
