here’s a peek at my underarm IPL process lol . The protective eye wear that STRIP provides is quite stylish actually….hahahah

And they’re amongst the best I’ve been given. Even the protective googles that were given to me by one of the well known dermatologist in Paragon didn’t quite cut it and didn’t do its job in shielding the strong lights from the IPL from my eye. I think quality protective eyewear is really important especially when we’re faced with harsh lights in such an intensity. So Thank You STRIP for taking the lead here. It made me feel really relaxed about the whole session :)

I was pleasantly surprised one day to come home to a bag full of Physiogel products without a hint of who sent it. Afterwhich I discovered it was sent to us by Physiogel from our dear editor Bianca. :)

Being an individual who grew up with eczema… and living in hot and humid Singapore, can’t tell you how delighted I am whenever I receive something that’s said to be suited for sensitive skin or people with eczema problems.

While the brand’s packaging is fuss free and straight to the point. The product within however I can attest for.

Physiogel creams/lotions are able to help relieve eczema in the following ways:

Themicon Technology Hair Removal System by Nono! and Aibi


Last month at the launch of AIbistyle’s NONO! hair removal system. I was happy to learn about the newest tech in portable hair removal systems. If you are a user of many traditional technologies such as IPL, you would know that it isn’t suitable for darker skin tones.
Here’s when techicon technology works its magic.
The Heat Advantage
Thermicon is a heat based technology, and uses no light. Lasers and IPL technologies rely on light and the heat generated by light to achieve their hair removal goals. The light used by these methods is drawn to the melanin in the hair follicle. Light, grey and white hair has no melanin and is very hard to treat with alternative technologies as it may not be affected at all by the applied light. With darker skin types, the contrast between the melanin in the skin and the melanin in the hair follicle may not be enough to safely and effectively remove hair without burning or other side-effects, like changes in the skin colour.

Ok so basically your hair growth goes through a 3 distinct phases
:1. Anagen:
This is the active phase. The root is connected to the follicle and hair growth occurs.
2. Catagen:
In this transitional, the hair shaft begins to pull away from the root as hair growth begins to stop.
3. Telogen:
This is regarded as the resting phase, the hair shaft and root are completely separated and no growth occurs.
Oh the trouble is all three phases are occurring at the same time. And there is no way of knowing which hair is at which stage. For long-term hair removal to work, the only way to damage the root and inhibit hair growth is to catch it in the anagen phase, when the root is connected to the hair shaft. That’s why the longer you use no!no! the more effective it will be!

The ThermiconTM Effect

In our search for a totally safe and painless method for removing unwanted hair we decided to turn the whole concept around and develop something new and completely different – ThermiconTM technology. The development of a proprietary patented thermodynamic wire to transmit gentle heat to the hair, while including safety mechanisms has enabled Radiancy to adapt this professional technology to a home use product.
Thermicon works on the principle of heat transference conducting a gentle pulse of heat down the hair follicle. The hair is then separated close to the skin while the signal continues to travel down into the follicle where hair growth takes place. Woe is me – I even have hair on my fingers -_-
So I tried to zap them with No!No! but due to the contours the regular sized No!no! wasn’t as effective.
Honestly, there are a few cons for some:
It’s time consuming and thus you need patience and you also need to master it. Also, the crystallized hair needs to be buffed off. On first usage of course – I’ve mastered it so I haven’t gotten super smooth results. But like anything, practice makes perfect.
There’s a smaller kit the8800 model which uses a tinier filament which you can use on your bikini line and face etc. facial hair. Perfect isn’t it?

But there’s a very big pro for some – especially those who cannot shave as they have sensitive skin susceptible to razor bumps. And for those who cannot stand the pain from waxing. The No!No! produces no skin irritation like in-grown hairs, red pimples, or rashes. There’s also no pain. (Just a smell of burnt hair at times)

Yes they will need replacement after a certain amount of usage.

Woe is me – I even have hair on my fingers -_-
So I tried to zap them with No!No! but due to the contours the regular sized No!no! wasn’t as effective.
Honestly, there are a few cons for some:
It’s time consuming and thus you need patience and you also need to master it. Also, the crystallized hair needs to be buffed off. On first usage of course – I’ve mastered it so I haven’t gotten super smooth results. But like anything, practice makes perfect.
There’s a smaller kit the8800 model which uses a tinier filament which you can use on your bikini line and face etc. facial hair. Perfect isn’t it?
But there’s a very big pro for some – especially those who cannot shave as they have sensitive skin susceptible to razor bumps. And for those who cannot stand the pain from waxing. The No!No! produces no skin irritation like in-grown hairs, red pimples, or rashes. There’s also no pain. (Just a smell of burnt hair at times)

PARTNERSHIP WITH NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

This year La Mer has expanded its partnership with National Geographic Society by working with renowned resident ocean explorer and “living legend,” Dr. Sylvia Earle, to delve into the history of underwater habitat protection, address actionable changes for future preservation and support National Geographic Society ocean missions globally.

The partnership will culminate in a short film that gives an unprecedented opportunity to see the ocean through the eyes of Dr. Earle. Throughout her career Dr. Earle has led more than 100 marine expeditions and logged more than 7,000 hours underwater to become one of the most influential ocean experts of our time.

Named “Her Deepness” by the New York Times, “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress, and first “Hero for the Planet” by Time Magazine, Dr. Earle led the first team of women aquanauts during the Tektite Project in 1970, received appointments from three U.S. presidents and, most recently in July 2012, set a record for solo diving in 1000 meters depth.

The value of Crème de la Mer reflects the highest quality ingredients, the unique craftsmanship and the transformational benefits enjoyed by its many devotees. The outstanding properties of Crème de la Mer are the result of not only the individual ingredients but also the artisanal way in which they are sourced, specifically combined, meticulously formulated and then hand filled.

They use a form of sea kelp which is sustainably hand harvested helping to maintain its native ecosystem. The kelp is also only harvested at specific times of the year when it is in its most nutrient rich state, once shipped overnight on dry ice to The Max Huber Research Labs, the sea kelp is combined with other key ingredients. These ingredients then go through a lengthy 3-4 month biofermentation process. In addition, a unique extract, The Lime Tea, derived from hand peeled limes and processed for 4 to 6 weeks, is incorporated into each Crème. La Mer’s scientists rigorously evaluate the activity of each batch of Miracle Broth, and if the high standards are not attained, the batch is discarded and they start again. Because of the intricate and artisanal process that goes into making each jar which is still hand filled to this day, only small quantities of Crème de la Mer can be produced at a time… this is why this Crème has such a  cult global following.
